I bet all these are FLAC files huh? How do i open a FLAC file. What is FLac? Do i have to convert them to mp3 to put them on CD-R? You know, mp3's would be easier for people to use.

Convert to wave and burn to CD-R if u dont want to lose any quality. FLAC is just  the same quality as Waves just its smaller. Get Winnap i think to play it, or download FLAC Frontend and thats a codec to get it to play in Windows Media Player.

By the way, you do not need to convert these files to mp3 to burn them to a CDR. In fact, the uploader of these great stuff was clear: he doesnt want mp3 of this at least for now. Converting FLAC to MP3 will ruin the files.

You can burn them to a CDR using NERO. You just have to install a plugin that you can find here:

Let me say that I use Foobar and the Nero plugin.  Both work like a charm.  Foobar is a very nice player.

I don't care for VLC though as it changed all my desktop icons to that pylon icon and I had a hell of a time changing them back, even when I made Foobar my default player.  :rant:

I also hate fucking VLC, but I was just trying to give that guy some different options.

Foobar2000 and Nero are a great combo.

It's hard to say with a recording from 1987. Older tape players/recorders have frequency issues. It's not as clear cut as it is today, you can almost always tell even the recording device just from spectral.

I think we'd have to ask an expert on it, like Pandora, Llimulus, neo, etc.

Considering all you do here is brag about your printed artwork, I really think you should stay away from dissing people who are going out of their way to share their recordings in their purest form, unlike someone who makes DVD rips of things so he can keep the DVD rare.

There's nothing wrong with Liquid Drum pointing out the spectral, but you then jumping on timebomb makes you look really pathetic man.

From what I've read, it is cuts out around 16 something or another, it's lossy. That looks lossless to me...

I'm late to this party but just d/l'd the stuff yesterday.  First of all thanks timebomb for putting the stuff out there.  Second, the CBGB stuff doesn't sound any better (to me) than the disc I have from ages ago but didn't realize that was something somewhat rare.  The demos sounded strange to me, I thought they had been slowed down or something which would explain the lower frequency range but maybe the upper frequency range did get cut off somehow?  The one thing that hit me while listening to it though was really how much studio production benefitted Appetite.  I think AFD is the best album of all time but listening to those demos it sounds only slightly better than an average band (meaning the songwriting is amazing but the recordings themselves don't show a tight cohesive band displaying the energy that's heard on the AFD album)  Just my thoughts though.

I haven't listened to this yet, but are you sure you have the date correct for this show?  I've got "Halloween on the Horizon" which is a show from Syracuse, NY which I thought was October 31, 1987.  It was called Halloween on the Horizon because the show was at this shitty little club that has since shut down.  My older brother says the place was like being in somebody's basement...a real dive. 

Everything I've found tells me Guns was in Syracuse, NY Halloween of '87.  Just an fyi!  :peace:
