Keep it up and u will be more than ready by 08.

Good news and bad news for me tonight.

Good News is.. I improved my 3 mile time from 24:05 to 23:35 tonight.

Bad news is...... now I somewhat injured my right Achilles tendon....

Im getting frustrated. I think Im gonna just have to run easy for a while and forget the fast stuff.

"If I were you, I'd manage to, avoid this situation,
of aching legs, pushed to the edge, by over-acceleration,
Just use your head and in the end, you'll find your inspiration,
To just go slow, and stretch, and have some good hydration!"

Yeah, I could have easily worked inflammation in there as well, but I'm happy with this.   hihi  Seriously, your mode of attack and ever-improving times was bound to hit this type of wall.  Now you know "Better."  Stay healthy.   peace

My achilles isnt hurting anymore so Im gonna start back tonight nice and slow.

Well, I have good news and bad news about the 5K I just ran yesterday.  First, the bad news.  I did not break 20 minutes.  I finished in 20:19.  The good news?  I got 9th overall out of over 200 runners.  1st in my age division.  After the race I of course donned my new GNR shirt from the May 12 Hammerstein show!  GNR was represented, and I got a nice, "GNR!" yell from another runner when accepting my medal.

next goal...sprint triathlon in October...half-Ironman next June.  Wish me luck.   peace

U might not have broken 20, but u still improved from the last race and 9th overall is amazing!!!!

I dont think Im gonna make my race Sept 23rd.

My recent injuries forced me to take a week off and I ran 3 miles today very slow and felt good. Ill see how I am running and feeling a few days before the entry deadline.

I dont know yet though. Now Im mentally affected cause Im afraid everytime I run now that my calf or achilles will hurt.

I've had 2 pain free days though.

Would u recommend I only run every other day and maybe only one fast day a week?

GNR REPRESENT!! ok

Good Luck with the Sprint Triathlon and the half ironman next year.

I have no doubt u will do well!

Yes I would.  In addition to that, don't keep it a hard and fast rule to alternate days.  If it takes 2 days to feel recovered, give yourself 2 days.  If 3, give it 3.

My goal is to run the Atlanta Marathon when I am 30.

I am 27 years 8 months right now, So I have a little over 2 years to get conditioned enough to do so.

What would be cool Axl4Prez is if somehow we could run a marathon together! Imagine that!

That would be cool.   Cool
I've got a friend in Nashville who runs the Music City Marathon every year.  He's getting married in March and is running it in April? I think that's the date for the marathon.  Anyhow, since it's either a plane flight or 12 hour drive one-way this year, and I'm planning the half-ironman in '07, and the ironman in '08, how's '09 sound?  We'll all bring "real" music to the Music City Marathon with Better cranked up at the starting line!   hihi
All Gunners will be welcome.   peace

30 minutes is great dude. Seriously, and the more u do it the longer and faster u will be able to go.

I got a new PR *personal record* today in my 3 mile.

Old time:23:35

New Record 23:15

Also thanks to my New Balance 587's I am 100 percent pain free afterwards.

I had a mental block cause since my achilles and calf injury I've been leary of running fast cause I had it in my head that everytime I ran fast I was gonna get hurt.

So I am excited that I have no pain at all.

The cool thing about it is....U can always get in shape. So I'm sure by now you have started seeing some results and their is no feeling in the world well maybe other than Sex like workin out hard and seeing results.

If u ever feel like u don't wanna continue just remember, it only takes about an hour a day, hell 30 minutes a day to stay in decent shape.  No one in the world in my opinion has an excuse for not being in some kind of shape.

? No one in the world in my opinion has an excuse for not being in some kind of shape.

...unless you have some sort of medical condition that renders you unable to exercise.  But yeah, for the most part, there's no excuse.  It's not even like you have to be a food nazi either!  When you look around and see the terrible decisions people make about food along with inactivity, it teaches you some quick lessons.  I've got a friend in his mid 30's diagnosed with type-2 diabetes.  There's no excuse for that.  He ate like shit, never exercised, and now he's got a disease that will attack not only his body, but his mind as time moves on.  Such a waste.  Sad   The cigarettes will be sure to help him too.  Roll Eyes

Thats sad Axl4prez...

I can understand how people let them selves get so far gone. cause u feel so bad about yourself it just snowballs cause u dont think there is a way out.

I have lost over 75 pounds and I havent went hungry not one time

Running is awesome cause it allows u to eat shit that normal everyday folks can't eat if they are on a diet.

That is freaking awesome!  Losing 75 pounds is awesome.  It reminds me of my buddy who's about 260 now (he was about 225 getting married 5 years ago), and he's coming down for a sprint triathlon next month.  I think I'm more excited about his 1st one than my 1st one!

And yeah, being able to eat what you want and not have to pay the price with a big gut is great.  The funny part is, now that I've been doing all the running, biking, and swimming, I don't crave the junk as much.  That's not to say I don't over-indulge every now and again, but yeah, it makes life alot easier!  At my heaviest I was 208.  I think it was the stress of college along with just being married (fat and happy.  Smiley )   Little Debbie (that whore) was the other woman in my marriage.  Making a cake box full of lemon cupcakes and smearing them with a whole container of lemon frosting would supply a snack for football Sunday.  Looking back, it's disturbing!?!

7.25 miles tonight.  That's 5 laps around my neighborhood...nice easy pace with the last lap the fastest.   beer  3 or 4 mugs o' sherbet to celebrate.   peace

Im like that also with junk food. Sometimes I dont crave it but then Ill have a little stretch of about 2 or 3 days where I do and usually I'll let myself have some just so I can get over it and move on.? Its worked for me so far so I see no reason in changing? yet.

Fat and Happy....... why does that happen? It does though, when u get happy and content at first its like everyone I know goes to hell shape wise at first...... thats interesting....

I hope your friend does well. I love hearing stories of people setting goals, workin their ass off and accomplishing them. It inspires and motivates me like u wouldn't believe.

I can't wait to build back up to where I do long runs.

I wish I would've listened at the beginning to your advice and took it easy.? I tried to do too much too soon and paid the price.

I basically started over from scratch and Im gonna do like the experts recommend and increase my mileage by 10 percent a week.

So this week i am at 12 miles, next week 13 etc etc and I cant wait to get back to the 20 miles so I can do a super long run on Saturdays again.

I had this fear that if I didnt run as hard as I could everyday that I would get out of shape, get back fat and not be able to run again next time I tried.

I finally realized that I was being a moron.

So now, If I am sore, I relax, I added slow enjoyable runs to my routine so everything isnt a contest.

When u constantly compete against yourself it isnt any fun, it becomes like a job and extremely stressful to run and that is when u quit.

I wish I had listened sooner to u....... hihi

I am serious about that Music City Marathon.

I am hopin we can make that happen! What an amazing accomplishment and feeling to finish that!

Then we could take a pic together and post it on the Gallery. ok
