Canadian rock band The Tragically Hip (tickets | music) has added US dates to a North American tour supporting its latest album, "World Container."

The Hip got its road party started earlier this month by kicking off a leg of Canadian arena dates that will take the band through Feb. 8. The US trek launches Feb. 26 in Long Beach, CA, and wraps April 29 in Washington, DC. Along the way, the band will play three shows with The Who and perform a two-night stand at New York City's famed Irving Plaza. Details are listed below.

The Tragically Hip's current itinerary isn't the end of the road, according to its website, which says this is just the beginning of the band's 2007 plans.

"World Container," the Hip's 11th studio album in its more than 20-year career, was released in Canada in October and will hit stores in the US and elsewhere March 6. A handful of songs from the record are streaming at the band's MySpace page, as is the video for lead single "In View."

The new release follows 2005's "Hipeponymous," a 37-song, two-CD, two-DVD boxed set that includes a full-length concert DVD and a bonus DVD featuring 23 videos.

The Tragically Hip, which has won a dozen Juno awards since 1990, was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 2005.

Heres the setlist from the Hip concert I attended Monday night with about 30 friends, was Sold-out and was a solid performance from the band...Nothing fancy but my god Gord Downie is crazy on stage lol, Someone brought a massive ballon and blew it up and ppl were hitting it around and at the end of a song he asked for it and he stuck the microhpone in the side of it and jumped on it with his stomack and it burst and he got back up and said "I hate fucking ballons" haha it was hilarious, But during the Hundreath Meridian he did his little thing where he sings super quick it was awsome, he even took a small nap on the side of the stage and they did a tribute to Joni Mitchell singing Big Yellow Taxi, All in All it was a solid performance from the band, My only complaint is no 38 Years Old, Wheat Kings or Fiddlers Green which is possibly my new faviourite song

Hmmm, I doubt that performance will show up on YouTube... too bad I missed it!

Strange to see this thread, I just listened to Henhouse and Phantom Power a couple of days ago out of the blue!

The hip rock.  I saw them live in Thunder Bay a couple of months ago.  Awesome show.  Downie and the boys are Canadian rock at it's finest.

I live like 10 minutes from Millhaven Maximum hihi

I've seen them live twice, once at the ACC, once at the Molson Amphitheatre in Toronto... My favourite song is probably Nautical Disaster.  Fifty Mission Cap is another favourite, but I'm a Leafs fan  Tongue   Oh, and Fireworks ("You said you didn't give a fuck about hockey, well I never saw someone say THAT before!")

Gord's vocals on the track that follows Fireworks give it a slight edge Wink
