Hey all, great site, been visiting for years, was at the 2003 Philly show where Axl never showed (It wasn't a true all out "Riot" trust me). Anyway looking for your help on something. I was watching Fuse or MTV2 late on night & caught this metal band. At first I thought 'Who are these guys' trying to pull off a Metallica sound?? Then I gave them a shot and heard the whole song out. It was decent, a throwback to their Pre-Black album days. My roomate says he's heard of them, Darkness something or other, not sure if it's the ssame band. The best way I can describe them is an early Metallica sound and the singer has very long dreads (white guy, not trying to bring race into it), down his back. Anyone know the name of this band & whether they are good??  Your help is greatly appreciated. Huh

the darkness is so far from metallica one can get it :p
i dont know about sounding like metallica, but ill list a few of the newer bands wich singer got dreads:
MurderDolls - sucks
Wednsday 13 - sucks
Dope - one or two cool songs, cover though
KoRn - sucks (the original suckers, though)

hell, it might even be Rob Zombie...

and only Rob has some decent songs from those i listed...

hope that helped!

Shadows Fall is an excellent metalcore band, if you're into that kind of stuff. Don't expect them to be as good as Slayer or Exodus, though. They're good for a recent band, I guess.

Now, for a really good recent thrash band, check out Destroyer 666!  peace

Could be In Flames.

The again, how could that possibly be when Darkness is in the band name! Duh!  Shocked

I dont know but I saw Izzy Stradlin's pictures where he wears DREAds, they look better in him than in Axl... and he did it first.

Axl is a "Metal" singer now? really? Since when? does he also do the chicken dance?
It is insulting for him.
Anyway, real hairs are always better.

How recent?

They formed in the mid 90's, which is recent by thrash standards. They have 3 albums out so far. If you like them, check out Sauron, too! It's the Sauron that did Thrash Assault, not the tons of other bands named Sauron.

In his defense he said "Darkness something or other" not "The Darkness"!!

But YES, Shadows Fall is it, Thanks You. Glad to hear some of you dig them.
