Name your favorite top three Sci Fi movies - and be 100% truthful to yourself. Here's mine

1. Dark City - I watch this at least once a month. Everything about this movie is amazing.
2. Blade Runner - A great Noir future story that leaves you guessing.
3. 2001 : A space Odyessy - A master work of pure genius.

Star Trek 2

Oh shut up you say - Star Trek sucks

Very true, you'll find no love for the Trek here

But Star Trek 2 ISN'T Star Trek at all - its a superb naval film, Moby Dick with lasers

The CGI is STILL stunning, the film is 25 years old! Its nothing short of remarkable what they acgieved with a tiny budget with prehistoric equipment

From wonderful direction, acting and script this is one of the finest sci fi films ever made - condemned for being part of a less than stellar tv program

'Khhhhhhhhaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnn!'

Hilarious youtube vid - anyone that has seen the film will wet themselves

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OFRRAcR2N2M&feature=related

another - even better!

Not really a big Sci-Fi fan, but I guess my three faves would be . . .

1. The Matrix

2. Aliens

3. Predator (or is that even considered a Sci-Fi film?)

Star Wars is pretty much my favorite movie, but I consider it fantasy, not Sci-Fi.

I just bought Blade Runner, haven't watched it yet. Also purchased 2001: A Space Odyssey awhile ago, still haven't watched it. I might have to add to the list after watching them...

Now...

Is Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind sci fi?

Yes?

I'm going to include it

I loved this film so much I was all but in tears at the end

I loved it so much I can never watch it again - because a repeat viewing will never capture the magic of the first time:'(

No!, no! Don't stop there!,

Eternal Sunshine is a film that demands repeated viewing!

Heck, I don't care for its genre, it deserves to be on any damn list!

Hmm, I was waiting to post because I wanted to see some movie titles I may have forgotten.

For me, in order of greatness:

1:  Star Wars:  Episode 5
2:  Star Wars:  Episode 4
3:  Star Wars:  Episode 3
4:  Star Wars:  Episode 6
5:  Terminator 2
6:  Back to the Future

How did I rate these movies?  I asked myself what sci-fi movies would I pay money to see again in the theater.

One of my FAVORITE campy movies.  I might throw it under "horror"...but I suppose sine they ARE from outer space, Sci Fi would work, too.

that film scared the krap out me

Terrifying

I'm not sure if its the 'oh dear god what the hell am i watching?' vibe that makes it so terrifying or that clowns are just flat out evil whether from space or otherwise....

hell, a documentry on clowns doing work for charitable causes would scare me....
