Title: Axl picture in Tour Photos thread?
Post by: cotis on January 02, 2010, 12:09:11 PM
Where'd it go?

Did the poster have permission to post somebody's personal picture all over the Internet?

I doubt she did.

Because none of you even knows who the guy in the picture with Axl is! I do...

Correct me if I'm wrong.

How am I supposed to know that wasn't the picture taker, posting the picture?

No one can correct you, we don't have an edit/modify button on your posts ;).

Rather than being snide about it, you could just say "Oh this is XXXXXXX, and it was taken from his personal album, so I removed it."

How's this for snide: Using common sense, you might come up with reasonable explanation for it. Such as it might've been somebody's personal photo that had been shared without permission.

I mean, this wouldn't be the first time that happened. Or maybe it was and I just didn't realize.

I'll await your next thread about the a similar subject.

Honestly, had no idea what to expect. I've seen things deleted for what I thought, were no reason before.

Figured I'd just get an explanation in case anyone noticed it being deleted as well.

Thanks for the heads up!

You're not important or funny enough, sorry.

I was either important/funny enough to bring you out of your cave to delete my post in the G2R thread though?

People have different tastes.

Obviously your British humor is just too grand to take on my humor that my 'cronies' and myself engage in.

If I'm not important, then why can't you ignore my posts? Doesn't hurt anyone does it?

Are my posts that detrimental to the board?

Obviously you take things very personally.

...you didn't answer my question(s), but I wouldn't want to bother you anymore than I alreadyyy have.

Didn't know that having fun caused everyone's panties to get all bunched up.

Do you have the person's permission to A: edit his photo B: post it?

I just don't get it.

If the person doesn't want the photo to be on internet, so don't put that on internet. Simple

It's bit awkward take a pic with someone famous, put on internet and then requesting to the photo be shut down.

just to clarify: i've posted the photos 3 times cause i didn't notice this topic, but now i won't post it anymore.  : ok:

Do we have permission to post every other image that gets posted on the board? Might as well remove every image and just keep the HTGTH branded images posted in the forum.

You wanna be an asshole about it? you don't think you and your buddies are in enough shit already?

You wanna stand out even more? Yeah, that's gonna look good.  : ok:

I happen to know the person in the picture, and I'm not convinced that he wants his picture posted (without permission) all over the Internet.

Send me a picture of yourself and I'll spread it online.

Surely that would be no issue for you...

You didn't answer my question. As usual.

You think taking somebody else's personal picture (that they didn't post here) is the same as posting pictures that were meant to be published.

Was your picture posted by somebody else without your approval?

If it was posted by you for all to see, it's not exactly the same thing now is it?

Some of you need to go out and buy a clue. Fast.

You're in for a rude awakening if you're gonna keep being this arrogant/ignorant.

Not everything is about you and your "need" to see pictures.

Not trying to be a dick but my questions weren't answered either. What's fair is fair.

Also, my opinion is that a "personal/private" picture is one that is NOT your main picture people see if they see your profile....as it is on his Facebook account.

That's just my opinion, means nothing -- I know -- but just want to get that out there.

Are you friends with him? Did you ask for permission to post it? Is the person aware that his picture is being posted by strangers on various web sites on the Internet?

Just because you want to share a picture with YOUR FRIENDS on Facebook, doesn't mean you intend for it to be shared with everybody in the whole world.

Just because you know/assume that everything you put on Facebook is public domain doesn't mean everybody else does.

Some of you seem to have a hard time understanding that not everybody on this planet is aware of the amount of time GN'R fans can spend on looking for pictures of certain band members. So what might seem like a  picture only intended for close friends, is soon found by a GN'R fan and posted as his/her own creation on all the message boards.

Not everybody is aware of that.

So just because you guys think like that, you seem to think decency and common sense can be disregarded. You thought it was public so you don't need permission! Even if it's the decent thing to do.

As I said, it was my opinion and I still stand by that.

There are other measures that can be taken in the PRIVACY section to block such things if he was that afraid of the picture getting out, just saying.

Found a part of their "TOS" that even states that it isn't private once it is posted, and Facebook itself can use the photos to do whatever they want with it.

Just saying...I know this is like splitting hairs, but if he was that worried about it being out there, he simply shouldn't have it as his main profile picture that ALL the world can see, not just his friends, anyone that manages to stumble upon his Facebook account.

If it was posted saying "All credits, rights go to XXXXX" -- would it have been okay?  Cause even a non-diehard GNR can could find that I'm sure if you do a few searches online and what not.

Yeah, because you don't even want to try to understand...

What part of "not everybody is like you" didn't you understand?

The Facebook privacy settings are something you have to know about in order to be able to set up properly.

So you guarantee that everybody on Facebook is aware of the earlier mentioned mentality of certain GN'R fans and therefore know how to "protect" their private photos?

I guess I'm stupid because I don't think that. I think that there are people out the on Facebook who aren't aware of all the "w.axl.rose"s and "cotis"'s of the world prowling for Axl photos on Facebook.

Found a part of their "TOS" that even states that it isn't private once it is posted, and Facebook itself can use the photos to do whatever they want with it.

And this relates to being a decent person how?

Just saying...I know this is like splitting hairs, but if he was that worried about it being out there, he simply shouldn't have it as his main profile picture that ALL the world can see, not just his friends, anyone that manages to stumble upon his Facebook account.

Once again, disregard what I say and keep repeating your opinion over and over again.  ::)

How would you feel if your picture was plastered all over the Internet without your approval?

Oh yeah, you don't let pictures to be spread because you read the Facebook TOS! Which means everybody else is just like you and nobody can be different...

Why not go find some public Axl photo to drool over instead of somebody's personal photo? There's many to choose from.

Problem solved.

Drool over that photo? I'd much rather find one with some busty blonde to drool over than that one ;)

If I put it up on my Facebook as my profile picture, one that I personally have chosen for people to see, then I'm fine with it. Obviously, if I didn't want it to be seen I wouldn't put it up there. Simple as that.

I'm a decent person, questioning me as a person for wanting to see a photo of Axl is quite childish.

Also, how did I "prowl Facebook" for it? If I'm not mistaken, another person posted it before myself. I just merely was looking for a reason for it being deleted, and I just didn't think that "because I know him and you don't" was a good answer.

I was given a link by another person shortly after I posted this thread, which linked me to the picture. I'm sure if I had the desire to, I could search through Facebook and find more Axl picture's -- but I have neither the time nor desire to do so. I can just look at the tour thread and see what pops up there, before it's deleted of course.

And I don't know the guy, nor will I ever likely. But I still stand by the statement that when you post a picture to be your PUBLIC PICTURE, it's free game.

Why do you refuse to acknowledge the fact that maybe not everybody thinks like that?

I don't get it.

Why is that idea so weird to you that you choose to disregard it?

How many times do I need to repeat it until you acknowledge it? Ignoring it won't make you convince me that you're right. Quite the opposite actually.

I'm a decent person, questioning me as a person for wanting to see a photo of Axl is quite childish.

You're giving me lectures on what's childish. That's quite priceless.

Wouldn't you say a child less likely to take into account what he/she is told and then make up their mind instead of disregarding it altogether and repeating "this is what I think!"?

 :hihi:

Also, how did I "prowl Facebook" for it? If I'm not mistaken, another person posted it before myself. I just merely was looking for a reason for it being deleted, and I just didn't think that "because I know him and you don't" was a good answer.

I used the two biggest "supporters" of posting other peoples' photos as examples.

That would be you and your buddy.  :)

And I don't know the guy, nor will I ever likely. But I still stand by the statement that when you post a picture to be your PUBLIC PICTURE, it's free game.

And like a child, you keep saying that over and over again while refusing to answer: Do you think everybody thinks like that?

But yeah, I'm the childish one!  : ok:

Edited to add: I told the guy about how his photo ended up being publicly posted on GN'R message boards and he said he would rather not see it posted. So there you go!
