This is gearing up to be a great season for the Wings, the team is pretty much firing on all cylinders even with several of our d guys out. Looking forward to seeing how things play out!

3 hat tricks in 3 games is unreal, as much as i hate him and his bitching whining and diving when he's not on his game, when he is on his game he is amazing.

Meh it's alot easier to do that stuff in the eastern conference. Put him on a western team and he won't be half as good.

though it's not NHL, it's still hockey and i don't think the british league warrents a thread of it's own.

we had a good old fashioned bench brawl at the weekend, Nottingham Panthers away at Coventry Blaze.

all kicks off around 1:10 in.

Anyone else see how classless the Hawks fans were last night by booing Cheli while he was being honored?

all star weekend.

interesting to see how the league has shaped up, Oilers are sucking in the standings, but have been competative in most games this year unlike last.

deadline should be interesting to see if any big moves are made by anyone.

also nabarkov refusing to turn up after the islanders claimed him

I wouldn't report to the Islanders either! Nabby wanted a shot at the cup and he would have had it if not for that stupid waivers rule.

FORSBERG COMEBACK OFFICIAL; SIGNS CONTRACT WITH AVALANCHE

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- Peter Forsberg is returning to the NHL.

The former league MVP signed a contract with the Colorado Avalanche on Sunday and joined the team on its charter to Phoenix. He had practised with the Avalanche at the team's facility before meeting with general manager Greg Sherman and signing the deal.

"Peter believes he can compete at the NHL level based on how his workouts went," Sherman said. "He will provide additional leadership to our club and he will have an impact with this young team."

The team did not release details of the contract.

Forsberg, who has been out of the league for three years, said he made the decision to return to the NHL before Sunday's practice.

"I was a little back and forth," he said. "I kind of made up my mind before practice if nothing went wrong in practice I would see Greg."

He said he doesn't think he can play Monday night against the Coyotes and isn't sure when he can get into an NHL game again.

"There are a few issues that have to be straightened out first," he said. "I'd like to play, but I'm not sure how it's going to go. I'm here, I came here to try and it's going pretty good. I'd like to start playing and see if I'm good enough."

The Avalanche are happy to have him back.

"When he's available to us it will be a big boost for us emotionally and a big boost in our lineup," coach Joe Sacco said. "He has a strong history in our organization, but we're not doing it just for that reason. We're doing it because we really believe that he can help us here down the stretch in the last 30 games. We all know how tight the conference is and the importance of these games."

The 37-year-old Forsberg has been practising with the team for two weeks in hopes of making a comeback. He wanted to determine if his chronically injured right foot could handle the rigours of the NHL. He said he had to get into game shape before he could make a decision.

Peter Forsberg to announce retirement after 35-minute comeback

Peter Forsberg's(notes) latest, and perhaps last, NHL comeback lasted 35 minutes and 10 seconds over the span of two games. He didn't tally a point, picked up four penalty minutes and was a minus-4. It's an unsatisfactory end to a spectacular 13-season career, but one that'll be a forgotten coda; the last in a series of inconsequential attempts to restart his Hall of fame-caliber career.

The Colorado Avalanche announced late this morning that Forsberg will hold a 2:30 p.m. press conference at Pepsi Center and "will announce his retirement from the game of hockey." There's a finality to that phrasing, and Foppa had previously indicated this journey back from foot surgery would be his "final test." So perhaps this is the end.

i love forsberg and would have liked to see him make it through the rest of the season.

Flyers are having a great year, but TB looks like a very dangerous team right now. if i had to pick a team right now, i'd say they win it all. they are playing smart team hockey and they are just able to score goals in bunches at anytime.

great trade by the flyers this week. they are going for it all this year trying to end their long draught. as a Philly sports fan, it's just great to see a team really go for it and try to win it all. and at the same time, they aren't totally mortgaging their future. Holmgren has done an outstanding job. (i can say the same for the Phillies. I wish the eagles had that same type of desire to win.)

Flyers got a great winger that fits their system perfectly. he improves them this year, and is young and under contract so he could end up being one of their core players for many years to come. and they didn't even have to give up any of their good young players. just an awesome trade.

Down 3-0 doesn't look good for you guys. Though the Hawks will probably be fired up for game 4 after what happened in last nights game.

Yeah, it looks bad for the defending champs. Vancouver looks like a beast of a team this year. The Sadeen twins are playing great. I'm not sure anyone in the west will stop the Canucks.

As much as I hate the Hawks, I hope so. I want that series to go 7 games and for both teams to beat the crap out of each other  ;D

I could see the Hawks making this a series. They are the defending champs so you can't underestimate them.

And the Wings sweep the Yotes all the way back to Winnipeg. I think it's hilarious that if this was the last season in Phoenix, that the Wings were the ones to knock them out of the playoffs just like they did to the Jets in their last season in Winnipeg.

I have to say having been over in Vancouver a few weeks back I'm loving this. I got abuse for being an Oiler fan, we beat them 4-1 that night and it carried on, over to edmonton i went, canucks fans there being big mouthed Oilers won again.

they go 3-0 up in the series and all over HF boards they are getting excited and laughing about sweeping the hawks.

now the last 2 games it's been 12-2 over all to chicago and they're all doom and gloom it's amazing, hopefully the NHL will grow a pair and suspend Edler for his elbow to the head of bolland too.

Nucks fans have been like that since early January. They think because they were first overall in the league that it means that they have the cup locked up. It's really nice to see them come falling back down to earth again. They never had a chance at the cup and never will as long as Lou is in net.

Well the NHL is returning to Winnipeg for next season. The Thrashers are moving out of Atlanta. Its a shame for Atlanta but it will be good to see it back in Winnipeg. I'd like to see Quebec get a team again too.
