There probably another thread like this, so since I didn't find one, I thought why not post one.

So anyone want to recommend any classic or not well known about RPG's for any format.

I would say Neverwinter Nights is a classic that any PC gamer should own.

Neverwinter nights was a bit lame, i thought.  Planscape: Torment, Baulder's Gate (all of them) and morrowind/oblivion are pretty good.  Fallout as well, bit dated tho.

Zelda ocarina of time is not strictly a RPG it's a fantasty/action adventurer.

A RPG and the greatest one is Final Fantasy

I remember an RPG called Landstalker on the sega genesis years ago. It was way ahead of its time, I love the splinter cell games on xbox (if you class them as RPGs)

Chrono Trigger is the best all time, I loved it, Kept playing it over and over and still do. Though Chrono Cross (its Sequel) was not nearly as good.

I Also Love: The Phantasy Star Series(Sega Master System and Genesis), Shining Force Series (Both Genisis and Saturn), Y's The Vansihed Omens (original for Sega Master System, Though maybe more of a action/adventure like Zelda), Y's III (Genisis) Oblivion(Xbox 360), DaggerFall (PC), Beyond Oasis (Genisis), Legend Of Oasis (Saturn), Grandia (Saturn Version), Grandia II (Dreamcast Version), Skies Of Arcadia (Dreamcast), Shenmue and Shenmue II (Dreamcast and Xbox, Though I call them RPG, some call them more action/adventure), Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic(Xbox), All of The Zelda Series except Majora's Mask, Super Mario RPG (SNES, I dont know why but I really liked this simple, easy game), Miracle Warriors(Sega Master System).

Thats all I can think of Off the top of my Head and I love all of them for a variety of reasons. Final Fantasy Didnt make my list, cuz I am one of few that thinks the series sucks. I dont know why but I just never got into it. Same with the D&D games.  smoking

Final Fantasy 7!

Oh god....to quote X-play "FF7 was emo before emo was even emo".

Sorry, for me FF7 is the single most overrated RPG in history.? It was OK to good, with slick presentation and a moderately interesting plot line.? It was also so linear and, at times, mind numbingly boring, that I can't believe I sunk 70+ hours into it.? ?The best thing, IMHO, about the game happens about 1/2 way through it.....and then...eh...Chronotrigger was SOOOO much better....Hell, so was Earthbound.

IMHO, FFX was much better too, though even that game isnt perfect, either.? I'll take Tidus over Cloud any day of the week.? Oblivion (and I know I'm going to be called sacrelidgeous by the JRPG faithful) was a better RPG (not necessarily a better GAME, just a better RPG) than just about every FF game ever released.? The Dragon Quest games kick sand in the face of most of the FF games...

At the time though, for me anyway it was cutting edge stuff.

You can't beat a Chocobo Race, and Materia.

I hate nothing more than people who play Oblivion, love it, and don't know that Morrowind exists.

Hmm, though the same could be said about people who don't acknowledge that Morrowind was the third Elder Scrolls game...

I wanted to play Morrowind again at some point, but after playing Oblivion I think that would just be too difficult to get into. The solo quests on Morrowind were appaling for their part, and having to walk back and forth from the camp with that wise ol' woman was one of the most tedious things in history.

Oblivion is far and away the best game, period, that I have ever played.

But I'm not really a game player.
