I like short tracks like Bristol. The Bristol night race is always interesting. The tracks I hate the most are California(Fontana), Chicago, Dover, Pocono, Michigan, New Hampshire, Kansas, and Homestead. I just cannot watch NASCAR racing at any of these tracks. BORING!

It's a good thing it didn't rain if your right about saying NASCAR would have parked the cars. It's pretty pathetic that NASCAR Cup can't run a road course race in the rain.

I was hoping Tony Stewart had something up his sleeve when they finally waved the green flag again. But Kyle just took off like usual and left everyone else in his dust.  Angry

A 40 minute red flag? It was a pretty bad wreck but I think that's a bit long for the cleanup crew.

Amateur hour at The Glen!

I know what you guys mean.  If the government wanted to test a new type of bomb at the California...Auto Club Speedway, I wouldn't object to it at all.  Kansas should swap dates with The Glen.  I really think a road course would shake things up in the Chase, and we really need that.

Guys, I will tell you why Junior always fades.

He has the worst crew chief on pit road.  It's too bad that he can't work with any other guy on top of the pit box.

Come to think of it, Junior isn't a very smart person either.  I guess they go hand in hand.  I have seen Tony Jr. and Sr. kill Dale's chances at going to victory lane so many times, it's ridiculous!  Why on Axl's green earth would you stay out when everyone else has gone to pit road?  Junior had a better car than Kyle Busch.

Speaking of Kyle, he will take the #1 seed when the Chase begins in Loudon.

NASCAR didn't even bring rain tires for the Cup Series at Watkins Glen.  They said that they would rather race on Monday than to run on rain tires.  Which is very lame.

We need more short track racing.  We only have 6 short track races on 3 short tracks.

I read online where there MIGHT be some racing in the rain in Cup by 2010.  lol  Maybe that would save us the drama of the California race at the start of the year.  Wasn't that the one that had weepers on the track, got rained out/red flagged, and finished the next day while we were all at work?

About Dale's pit crew.  I just get the feeling that Tony Eury, Jr. will always be his crew chief.  Just from what I've read about Dale, he has trouble trusting people/feeling comfortable.  From all accounts, he's pretty shy.  He has that comfort of working with someone he knows and trusts well in his cousin.  Remember though, that Darien Grubb is up there on the box each week, too.  He's like a co crew chief...so looks like the calls would be better.   Sometimes the calls are going to go the right way, sometimes not.  It happens to every crew chief.

I'm not going to talk about Kyle Busch.   rant

We need more races like Richmond and Bristol.  (although Bristol hasn't been as good as it was)  I like the Phoenix track, too.  It isn't a short track but the race seems like it's a short track.

Oh well...hopefully next week will be better!

Yeah, California pulled a Texas.  Remember that huge wreck during the first race at Texas?  Took out almost half the field because of the weepers.

I complain about Eury because more often than not, the calls go against Dale.  His only gutsy pit call was the one that won Junior the race at Michigan.

Speaking of which, I hope Junior wins the race the right way this week to sweep Michigan!

They ruined Bristol with the progressive banking.

They ought to come out to Irwindale for a real good short track race, or to Indianapolis Raceway Park.  If those tracks made improvements, I don't see why they wouldn't come out here.  Ax Fontana and add Irwindale.  You can have a race in the L.A. market.  Hell, it's even closer.

I've only been watching NASCAR for 3 years now, so I don't remember the first Texas race.  Sad

I'm telling you what...this season just gets longer for Dale fans.  I'm so discouraged.  I don't understand why Dale didn't pit when the leaders did.  He's been struggling (all of them have) with a loose car all day.  Yeah, he ran really strong at the beginning as usual.  Even when the car wasn't as good, he was still running top 10 the whole race.  Not anymore, though.  Back to the pit stop call...when you know that Carl Edwards has such a strong car and he pits, why not pit, too?  Maybe if he'd had some fresh rubber he wouldn't have hit the wall.   rant

I hope that David Ragan finishes well.  He seems like a good up and coming driver.  I just don't want Busch to win again.  Why am I even bothering to watch anymore?

Drew, I'll have to talk to you when I'm not so grumpy.

Sukie.....it's okay, you can talk to me anytime.  rofl Whether your grumpy or happy.  Kiss Wink

Well, your boy Kyle Busch didn't when so that should cheer you up a little.  hihi For those of you who don't know, I personally nominated Kyle Busch as Sukie's Boy.  rofl rofl  Kiss

I can't be all that happy for Carl since he drives that Ford.

Concerning Dale Jr. Yes, he's struggling more and more here recently. I hate to say this but I think his string of good races has hit a bump in the road. I'm not sure the rest of the season is going to bring him good finishes. All of the Hendrick drivers had their problems today and finished out of the Top 15. I like David Ragan too but again, he drives a Ford.  Tongue Harvick had a decent 8th place finish.

Well, I started watching after Dale Earnhardt died, but I keep up with my history.  Wink

I will tell you why Junior didn't pit.

Tony Eury Jr. is still on the DEI payroll.  That, or he likes smoking Max Seigel's pole.

I'm only having fun with those topics, I just need an immature way to vent.

Junior should have a good race at Bristol, he always does well there, and Richmond too. I just want him to get some more bonus points so he can start third in the Chase.  But this business of starting off well and fading after the halfway point will not serve him well in the chase.

Where the hell are the other fantasy racing guys?  They don't even bother to say "peep."

Kyle Busch looked so sad after finishing second, I thought he was gonna cry.

JGR found to be cheating in Nationwide

NASCAR finds cheating after Nationwide race

By MIKE HARRIS, AP Auto Racing Writer 11 hours, 28 minutes ago

BROOKLYN, Mich. (AP)?The two Joe Gibbs Racing cars that have dominated the Nationwide Series this season likely will face stiff NASCAR sanctions after team members were caught deliberately trying to mask the horsepower in their powerful engines.

NASCAR inspectors found magnets under the gas pedals of the No. 18 and No. 20 Toyota?s when the cars were sent to the chassis dyno following Saturday?s race at Michigan International Speedway. Tony Stewart finished third in the No. 20 in his final Nationwide race for JGR, and Joey Logano was seventh in the No. 18.

The two cars have combined to win 14 of Toyota?s 15 victories in 25 Nationwide races this season. To temper the domination, NASCAR last month ordered all Toyota teams to cut about 15 horsepower in their motors.

NASCAR vice president of competition Robin Pemberton said the magnets were a quarter-inch thick and their placement was an attempt to hide how much horsepower the Gibbs motors still have even after the rule change.

?The intention was to manipulate the numbers that we get when we get our information and data off the dyno,? Pemberton said.

Joe Gibbs Racing president J.D. Gibbs said he and his father, owner Joe Gibbs, had no prior knowledge of their crew members intent and apologized to NASCAR and Toyota.

?That was a really poor, foolish decision on the part of our key guys,? J.D. Gibbs said. ?A couple guys chose to make a decision there that really impacts all of us.?

Gibbs said he wasn?t sure the crews tried to manipulate the dyno numbers. The JGR teams, behind esteemed engine builder Mark Cronquist, are thought to have some of the strongest motors in the industry.

?I know they were probably frustrated from the standpoint that wanting to show that, ?Hey, we have less horsepower than ever before? and they wanted to make it look like we?re handicapped even more than we actually were,? Gibbs said. ?I understand that, but that?s not an excuse.

?The engine shop, that?s kind of a badge of honor. You win that engine dyno, good for you. That?s kind of how we felt in the past few years, and Mark Cronquist and those guys really feel like they want to win that thing.

?The way I look at it, to come back after you?ve been chopped, to come back and win it again, that?s awesome,? Gibbs noted. ?That?s a great story. That wasn?t able to be told.?

Pemberton said NASCAR will meet this week to decide how JGR will be punished.

?I anticipate that we haven?t seen the end of it yet,? Pemberton said.

But J.D. Gibbs vowed the team will address the incident in-house.

?(We?ll) figure out exactly what happened and those that were responsible,? Gibbs said. ?There?s going to be punishment for that. That?s just part of life. You can?t do that.?

Joe Gibbs echoed his son?s thoughts in a sharply worded statement.

?If this alleged incident proves true, it goes against everything we stand for as an organization,? the former Washington Redskins coach said. ?We will take full responsibility and accept any penalties NASCAR levies against us.?

Lee White, president of Toyota Racing Development, said the company is grateful that the team stepped up and took responsibility and made it clear Toyota was not involved.

?I was surprised to see what was happening, and astonished and frankly incredulous,? White said. ?I couldn?t believe it was happening because it?s clearly defined in the entry forms that you don?t do this sort of thing. But I?m sure Joe and J.D. will take care of that internally and, whatever fans think, they?re going to think. We?re just going to keep working on our stuff.?

Pat Suhy, GM Racing group manager for NASCAR, said the actions by the Gibbs team raise more questions that stretch all the way to Toyota. The Japanese automaker is in its second season in NASCAR?s top two series.

?It?s not something that you like to hear about and you have to just question every chassis dyno that?s ever been run on every Toyota,? Suhy said. ?I don?t know is if it?s a Toyota problem, if it?s a Joe Gibbs thing, how widespread is it and how long has it been going on.

?It?s disappointing to hear that anybody, whether it?s a manufacturer or a team or an individual on a team would go to any length to do that. It?s bad for the entire garage, I think.?

Jack Roush, co-owner of Roush-Fenway Racing, which fields Fords in the Nationwide Series, called the Gibbs team?s actions ?extremely detrimental? to the sport and was confident NASCAR will address it.

?NASCAR will figure out what they should,? Roush said. ?If they?re going to make decisions based on parity, after they?ve given (Toyota) what they?ve given them with regard to parameters on their engine, based on flawed data that a team or the manufacturer, one of the other, had kited or shaved, that certainly is detrimental to my interests.?

This would be pretty cool. Any thoughts or opinions on this Sukie or Frank Costanza's Festivus Pole? I think it would be great to have an Atlanta night race instead of a California race on Labor Day weekend.

Racing source says night race planned for Atlanta

By CHARLES ODUM, AP Sports Writer 27 minutes ago

ATLANTA (AP)?NASCAR will run under the lights at Atlanta Motor Speedway in 2009, The Associated Press has learned.

There?s more: The new night race is expected to be run on Labor Day weekend.

Atlanta Motor Speedway and NASCAR officials are planning to announce a schedule change Tuesday that will include the night race announcement, said a racing official who spoke on condition of anonymity because details of the change had not been made public.

Atlanta?s place on the racing calendar also could move. There has been speculation Atlanta Motor Speedway will be part of a three-way trade of race dates for next year?s Sprint Cup schedule that also involves the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, Calif., and Talladega Superspeedway.

Atlanta would receive the 2009 Labor Day weekend race that?s happening this season in California. Fontana would receive Talladega?s fall race, while Talladega would receive Atlanta?s fall race, set for late October this year.

Fontana has struggled with overwhelming heat at its race on Labor Day weekend. The change would give the California track a spot in the 10-race Chase for the Sprint Cup championship.

Meanwhile, there also is speculation the Iowa Speedway will gain a spot in the Nationwide Series schedule and the Chicagoland Speedway will add a Craftsman Truck Series date.

I'm all for it!  Having a Cup race back in the South on Labor Day weekend is what it's all about.

Oh yeah, Darlington is located just north of Georgia *hint hint, nudge nudge*!  Just one step closer to having the Southern 500 back.

Too bad they are trading in one cookie cutter for another in the Chase.  California is like a glorified Kansas.

Did you hear that they want to add another Kansas race?!?!  *pulling hair out*

Indeed.  These posts will probably get deleted when the phantom mod comes online.  I still haven't gotten an explanation.  2 posts have vanished.

Anyway, I was explaining the Kansas situation.  (I think.)

Lisa France Kennedy (the most powerful woman over at ISC, a NASCAR company) said she would award Kansas a second date if they added a casino and a Hard Rock Hotel.

This will come at the expense of Martinsville losing a race.

I'm not telling anyone how to do their job, but at least you could edit any questionable comment(s) instead of deleting entire posts relevant to the topic.
