Richard Fortus, the phenomenon

« on: January 02, 2005, 07:47:20 PM »

...I LOVE IT.
ok, I don't live in Texas, I knew absolutely nothing to Country music a couple of days ago, but I listened to some country music (especially a song called "summertime blues", the intro is GREAT) and I love it! surprising for a french guy don't you think? Tongue in fact I love their guitar sound, it's sounds Folk, they use piano on rythmic sometimes, and accoustic guitars with a general cool drums tempo (mid tempo). It sounds a little bit like "dead flower" (Izzy/Axl version). it sounds like old fashion retro music but with a modern sound quality.
Axl should use folk guitars it kicks ass Cheesy I love that sound. Anyone love country music? I read it's the most popular music in the US, country artists sell tons of albums in the US, do you know a good country album and/or artist?
It makes me want to drive on Road 66 with country music in my car  hihi

I'm not big into country but if I had to pick one artist, Chris Ledoux is the best.

My top 3:

Johnny Cash
Dwight Yoakum
Willie Nelson

I don`t like a lot of country music though, much of it out now  reminds me of pop/rock songs that diddn`t make it, so they add a little twang to it and pawn it off as country.

I can't stand country music.  I don't know what it is, but it irritates the hell out of me.  I can listen to just about anything, but country.  I do have to say that since some of the new ones are more rock sounding, I can tolerate hearing them...

The best Country music comes from the following:

Johnny Cash
Waylon Jennings
David Allan Coe

These guys are the epitome of "Outlaw" country music.  If you are getting into country check these three out!!!

I really don't like Country music, but that may be because I heard it too much here in the "Deep South". Grin

That is very hard to play, lets see any current pop country artist try to pull that off.

Alabama is a great country band. Little Texas is also great.

Check out "Squeeze Box" by The Who. It has a country sound to it. It's awesome.

Dolly Parton is also worth checking out. She's a great singer and songwriter.

Here's a few of my favorite country songs:

"Walk Away Joe" - Trisha Yearwood
"Two Sparrows In A Hurricane" - Tanya Tucker
"Friends In Low Places" - Garth Brooks
"Strawberry Wine" - Deana Carter
"What Might Have Been" - Little Texas
"Where Corn Don't Grow" - Travis Tritt

I like more of the late 80's early 90's country music. Like the albums:

Clint Black - "Killin' Time"
Tracy Lawrence - "Alibis"
George Strait - "Strait Out of the Box" [BOX SET]
Garth Brooks - "Ropin' The Wind"
