List 5 underrated/overrated bands

I will give my opinion based (sp?) on my circle of friends and what I read on magazines, internet etc.

OVER

Nirvana (Come on, what's so good about them? Shitty band IMO)
Led Zeppelin (all my friends and my brother just agreed that this band is great and flawless, yeah right, can't stand Plant's voice)
Ramones (just boring)
Pink Floyd (boring as hell, my friends would suck Pink Floyd's members cocks)
Rolling Stones (I like them but they are overated, a lot. IMO.)

UNDER

Queen (greatest band from the 70's. Freddie was god. Brian is god.)
U2 - 90's era (no one that I know likes Achtung, Zooropa or Pop, for me these are their masterpieces including the Passengers soundtrack) Their other eras are overated.
NIN (sometimes when I say NIN is one of the greatest bands of all time some people laugh at my face.)
GNR - UYI (the end of Locomotive says it all)
Buckethead (this guy is genius)

Overrated:
5.Nirvana I love Them, I own every album and think Kurt Was a genius but still yet, they are definitely overrated.

And this.

But I disagree with people who say Nirvana wouldn't be famous if he hadn't killed himself. They were famous for 3 years before he did. Why would that change?


I think GNR and KISS are underrated as far as songwriting goes. Stick Motley Crue in there too.
I like Limp Bizkit too and I know most people sort of....hate them passionately.

All That You Can't Leave Behind was a preety good album.. So was How To Dismantle an Atomic Bomb

Nothing compared to the likes of The Joshua Tree or Achtung Baby though

It's hard to be truly overrated, when the vast majority of people aren't aware of your music.  But I do agree about the albums sounding the same, to some degree.  Zakk seems inclined to use the same guitar tone and distortion effects on every album, which is a shame, because he's clearly talented.  "Shot to Hell" really disappointed me.

I didn't like How to Dismantle at first. But now I love it

Miracle Drug, Sometimes You Cant Make it On Your Own and City of Blinding Lights are all classics

Let's add Smashing Pumpkins to the list. Maybe not ten years ago, but the new CD hasn't gotten the props it should--one of the best CDs of 2007 for sure.

i think oasis's be here now, and standing on the shoulders of giants are under-rated.

people seem to say be here now was the "most common second hand sold " album in the world.

and alot of people disliked standing on the shoulders and liked the albums which came after more.

i personally found, the most recent oasis album to be a big, steaming, pile of donkey shit.

standing on the shoulders have a great sound, its a shame people didnt "get it"

Now, I'm not saying that my list of overrated bands suck....just saying that they get way too much credit. My list of underrated bands are just bands that I like that I don't hear about very much with the exception of a few songs.

And its my opinion that Rush is heavily underrated.

and all 80s sleaze is overrated as hellah.

Hellacopters is also an underrated band.
Just like Kansas.
