A trilogy is three parts, why is "Estranged" part IV?

This is the truth and Axl was supposed to star in a short film that would have aired on MTV as a special. Of course that didn't happen! Thus we are left with the fragmented storyline. If you read the book it makes perfect sense. Thanks Boston

Um no, in the making of estranged axl explains why it's called part 4 of the trilogy. It's because they couldnt do the video (estranged) that was suppose to pick up the story where november rain left off because him and steph were no longer a couple and they couldnt do it. So they just came up with a different concept for estranged and named it part 4.

just curious
if  "without you" is not part 3,
it would have to be one hell of a coincidence
that the story that is credited with inspiring the videos
just happens to pick up where part 2 ends
and leave off where part 4 begins ?
