well what do you think? if they're planning a headlining uk tour right now, they might aswell be planning a tour for whole europe, don't u think?

Aren't they doing a full European tour in May/ June/ July? I don't think they will do a tour for festivals + a few arenas (Spain, France, Hungary, etc.) and then a month later a headlining tour just for arenas in Europe again. I heard somewhere that Donington would be the only UK date in 2006.

GnR are very well respected in the UK, the greatest hits went straight to #1 on the album charts.

I hope this turns out to be true  beer

Really hope this is true. Manchester or Newcastle would be great, I can't make Donnington so this would be awesome if it's true   ok

At this stage, it can't be that far in the works, no licence has been applied for by any London venue for a band caled Guns N'Roses. ok

sheffield arena would be a cool venue but im not sure of the capacity.its where they used to film GLADIATORS for ITV

Interesting peice of information from the Down website (Phil and Rex from Pantera)

Quote
Download

NOT HAPPENING. Apparently Clear Channel place a "Play Download, cant headline your own UK Tour" policy on ALL bands who play the festival so Down chose to tour instead. Does this mean a FULL UK TOUR. I dont know, I was only concerned with the London date [sorry non-Londoners] and was a lil drunk to push the issue, but I'm guessing they will play a couple of UK dates as turning down Download is a pretty big thing and they couldve still headlined a London show and played Download... so a tour is happening.

BUT... who knows if they will be the "Secret" band this year. Metallica and Funeral For A Friend were the past "secret" bands, and I think because of other touring commitments they had to be un-announced [Metallica headlined Reading that year and FFAF... i dont know, they are shit and I dont care] but like I said, Kirk flat out said NO to me asking if they were playing Download and I'm only passing on what I was told.

I wouldnt pin my hopes on this though. Kirk seemed pretty annoyed that the band had to choose tour the UK or play Download.

http://www.downboard.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=10547

i found it interesting because, of this rumor of a UK tour, according to this it's not gonna happen

I repeat this news is from a different bands website...just thought it had relevance to GnR's UK situation peace

It sure sounds like it.

Cant wait to see what the thousand insiders with a thousand contacts have to say about this.

They have been talking about a UK tour for a week or longer with contacts backing it up.

Supposedly we have been waiting for an announcement because a bunch more dates have to be added. We are probably waiting while they negotiate to see if a tour even really happens.

Maybe he will have to cancel download to pull off a full blown Euro tour.

Are you serious?

Just because the Download Festival wants to have the exclusive UK gig by the artists appearing there, doesn't mean they have any power over the rest of Europe.

Well, another check today, and still no London venue has applied for a licence for the band. ok

Did you read the whole thing? CC has a policy of 'Play Download, no headline UK tour'. Definition: Choose. Are you playing download, or are you gonna tour other venues. I dont understand why you think my comment wasn't serious.

Since Download has supposedly been confirmed, and if GNR doesn't cancel it, then a UK tour isn't gonna happen.

"Apparently Clear Channel place a "Play Download, cant headline your own UK Tour" policy on ALL bands who play the festival"

"Kirk seemed pretty annoyed that the band had to choose tour the UK or play Download."

I dont understand how these quotes here can be misinterpreted.
