Title: Urban legends of rock n?roll
Post by: Aava on October 17, 2005, 05:06:10 PM
So everybody, this thread is about urban legends/rumors of rock n?roll.

For example:
- How long is Gene Simmons tongue? Has he stretched it?
- Marilyn Manson had his bottom two ribs removed, so that he can perform oral-sex on himself.

True? Propably not. Entertaining? Not sure eather.. But lets try..

So, tell me the funniest, weirdest and ugliest (or maybe not the ugliest.. but..ach well, the Manson legend was pretty ugly already..) rumors.

I know. This was about urban legends, not true stories.

I read years ago that B.B. King has a fetish where he likes to piss on womens faces and make them drink it.

Ozzy bit the head off a bat and a dove

Moby took his name from Moby Dick--Actually this is true, he is descended from MD author Herman Melville

Kiss mixed some of their own blood with the printers ink for their first marvel comic book

Legend has it Led Zeppelin rode their motorcycles down the hallways, and Axl Rose threw barbecued steaks off the balcony at the Hyatt on Los Angeles' Sunset Strip. The hotel still offers special "band rates" for groups of 10 or more rooms.

those aren't urban legends because both are true.  he also pissed on the alamo, and drank Nikki Sixx's urine.

He drank Nikki's urine? That one I haven't heard, though I heard Ozzy snorted ants once.

I heard that Ozzy used to eat his own crap and I don't know if it was Pantera or Motley Crue that didn't want to tour with him.  :nervous:

Well both have toured with him, so you must be thinking of someone else.

Black Sabbath once stayed in an old house that was rumoured to be haunted, and apparently the fire lit itself in the middle of the night and all the members of the band seen a figure of a woman while in bed.

Black Sabbath all apparently slept with the same groupie (without each other's knowledge) who they later found out (individually) may have had some kind of STD, without telling one another they went to get checked in a clinic, turned out they ended up in the same clinic at the same time.

Richie Blackmore of Deep Purple is interested in witchcraft. (This one I don't believe)

While on stage with AC/DC Brian Johnson has reported a 'presense' he believes to be the spirit of Bon Scott.

Led Zeppelin and a groupie - Author Stephen Davis claimed years ago that a pretty young groupie with red hair was tied to the bed, and the band members then inserted pieces of a shark into her vagina and rectum. It later came out that 'Zep did catch sharks from the window of that hotel, but the object in question was actually a red snapper, while the person doing the stuffin' was road manager Richard Cole.

Sid Vicious' ashes - It is common belief that Sid's mother scattered his ashes over Nancy's grave in Philadelphia however a conflicting legend claims that Ms. Vicious arrived back at Heathrow with Sid's remains and accidentally knocked over the urn in her lounge thus the myth that Sid's spirit still circulates was born.

Wacko Jacko & elephant man - In 1987 it was said in the medio that Jacko had offered $50,000 for the remains of the Victorian patient Joseph Merrick, (the Elephant Man). The offer may have been genuine, but Jackson never collected the bones. Merrick's organs were destroyed in an air raid on the Royal London Hospital during the Second World War.

Robert Johnson's sold his soul to the devil - A common legend about Mr.Johnson is that he sold his soul to the devil in order to "play guitar like a demon". Conflicting evidence points to the  fact that young Robert was a poor guitarist early in his career whose quick improvement was remarkable. Years later he stated the source of his improvement came from being tutored by guitarist Ike Zimmerman and not the devil.

Keith Richard's 'blood transfusion"- Keith supposedly replaced his poisoned old blood with an infusion of healthy blood in a Swiss clinic in September 1973. Truth is that it was probably only haemodialysis, which filters impurities from the bloodstream. Later Keith added "Someone asked me how I cleaned up, so I said I had my blood completely changed".

The beatles got stoned in Buckingham Palace?? - In October 1965 the 4 bandmembers were there to receive their MBEs, and later John claimed they'd shared a toke in the loos. Years later Paul said he only remembers simply having a 'sly ciggie' with the chaps to calm nerves.

and my favorite...

Michael Hutchense's suicide - It is common misconception that Michael hung himself in his hotel room where he was found. Thats not the case at all...you see Mikey had a fondness for self-asphyxiating himself prior to climax during sex. That tragic night would point to us believing Mikey got a little to excited and decided and forgot to let himself breathe..

read the Crue's book, Nikki talks about Ozzy doing both during the time they toured together in 1984.

It's actually true! He also chased him down sunset strip past the cat house lol

4. Name the 3 best and the 3 worst Cathouse memories?
The very best was when I opened CATHOUSE Arizona. 1500 people started waiting inline at 3:00 in the afternoon. Having Alice Cooper play on Halloween was great and Ill never forget Axl chasing David Bowie down the street. The worse memory was realizing in 93 it was over. I remember having to go on stage and tell the crowd Alice in Chains wouldnt go on cuz the drummer was dope sick.

He was hitting on Erin or something so Axl got pissed. That's gotta be one of the greatest Axl moments ever. I would kill to have been there to see that go down.

That is sort of funny. I just find it hard to believe that anyone would want to punch David Bowie and chase him down the street. Bowie's an icon, rock legend. If he had stolen Erin's purse, that would be different. But telling her she looks nice...what's wrong with that? It's not like she was gonna run away with him and get married. Guys are stupid sometimes. :hihi:

K : I heard that David Bowie apologised to you after the incident at your video-shoot. (the story goes that Axl got pissed off with the ageing superstar after he appeared to be getting a little too well acquainted with Axl?s girlfriend, Erin, during a visit last year to the set where the Gunners were making a -yet to see the light of day- video for ?It?s so easy?. The upshot, apparently, was that Axl ended up aiming a few punches Bowie?s way before having him thrown off the set.)

A : Bowie and I had our differences. And then we talked and went out to dinner and then went down the China club and stuff. And when we left, I was like, ? I wanna thank you for being the first person that?s ever come up to me in person and said how sorry they were about the situation and stuff. ? It was cool, you know? And then I open up Rolling Stone the next day and there?s a story in there saying I?ve got no respect for the Godfather of Glam even though I wear make-up and all this bullshit... It?s laughable. I was out doing a soundcheck one day when we were opening for the Rolling Stones and Mick Jagger and Eric Clapton cornered me. I?m sittin? on this amp and all of a sudden they?re both right there in front of me. And Jagger doesn?t really talk a lot, right? He?s just real serious about everything, and all of a sudden he?s like (adopts exaggerated Dick Van Dyke-style Cockney) : ? So you got in a fight with Bowie, didja? ?. So I told him the story real quick and him and Clapton are going off about Bowie in their own little world, talking about things from years ago. They were saying things like when Bowie gets drunk he turns into the Devil from Bromley.... I mean, I?m not even in this conversation. I?m just sittin? there. Listening to ?em bitch like crazy about Bowie. It was funny.

K : But you and the Thin White Duke are now best of buddies, is that right?

A : Well, I don?t know about ?best of buddies?. But I like him a lot, yeah. We had a long talk about the business and stuff and I never anybody so cool and so into it and so whacked out and so sick in my life...I remember lookin? over at Slash and going : ? Man, we?re in fucking deep trouble ? and he goes ? Why? ? and I go ? Because I got a lot in common with this guy. I mean, I?m pretty sick but this guy?s just fuckin? ill ! ?. And Bowie sitting there laughing and talking about ? One side of me is experimental and the other side of me wants to make something that people can get into, and I DON?T KNOW FUCKING WHY! WHY AM I LIKE THIS ? ? And I?m sitting there thinking, I?ve got 20 more years of...that to look forward to? I?m already like that...20 more years? What am I gonna do? (laughs)

The story that the roadie keeps telling during Wayne's World 2, about having to fill a brandy glass with brown M&Ms for Ozzy Osbourne, is based on a true story that has become a bit of an urban legend. Van Halen actually had a rider (a contractual list of items that a band demands from the concert venue - towels, catering, stage equipment requirements, etc.) that said there must be a bowl of M&Ms backstage, but with all the brown ones removed. The reason for the absurd rule was to make sure that the entire rider (which included safety measurements for the band's exceptionally large and heavy stage set) had been read and obeyed in full. Sure enough at Pueblo, Colorado show, the rider wasn't read and the staging crashed through the floor. This lead to the urban myth that the band flipped out and intentionally caused the $80,000 worth of damage themselves all because they found brown M&Ms.

Recently this story took another shape. The blood didn't make it to the Kiss comic books. It's an unknown fact if it was used in another comic title or even if it was used at all.

Heard about the reason why Hendrix used to always wear his headband was to hide all the neelemarks from shooting drugs directly into his baran?

Its bullshit but I remember that one floating around in the 80's.
