Auh-oh...thanks Limulus but I need some translations to understand this... :P

just read the link under "Tracking at Sector Boundaries"

to make it short:
its just an technical issue, when songs aint properly cut on Sector Boundaries - the CDR burning software just fills in with silence. Listeners will hear a click or pop between tracks because of the music -> sub-second silence -> music transition. This is extremely annoying and easily avoidable.

Is there an easy way to burn this to CD if you don't have Nero?

i had the same problem with this file, i decoded using Traders Little Helper.  but i got it decoded w/ Fair Stars audio converter, file decoded and plays fine.

now, about the sector boundaries errors Limulus is mentioning, you can do this:

1) Download this software ''Trader's Little Helper''
http://tlh.easytree.org/

2) Open it.

3) Check the WAV files for sector boundary errors. Look at the screenshots:

4) If the software finds errors, fix them!

5) Save the ''log file''. The system should create new WAV files for all the original waves containing errors.

6) Convert the new (and flawless) wav files into FLAC. You can do that using this same software.

7) Upload the new FLAC files, and share them here with us!  ;D

oh, and by the way. I havent even started to download this, but looking at its size... is this a mono recording?

oh, by the way, please wait for Limulus to do the SBE's fixing and to share the files. Do not stark making ''editions'' of this recording. How many tracks or how it is splitted this recording is absolutely irrelevant. And also, do not spread false lineages. If we dont know, we just dont know. Dont start ''guessing'' or supposing how the lineage goes.

I will wait for Limulus and start making another upload of his files in another server, so anyone can grab this in the original form. This is the way we should move as a community:

- ONE version per recording
- lots of mirrors in diff. servers so everyone can download.
- one lineage, provided (or not) by the taper.

the only thing missing from the linage is   from the the recorder to pc otherwise the rest is correct i  talked with him last night about it asked him the questions to get that linage we have so far

I hope I didn't come off as "nagging" or anything with my SCoM request. Just to clarify, would you have to do all the fixes before uploading the SCoM .wav?

Again, I don't mean to come off as demanding or nagging, just curious. I greatly appreciate all the work that's going into all of this!

the errors on the first spreading have not been done by intention but by mistake. so lets just wait ~1 day and we all have a complete error-free version circulating worldwide.

its just a cable, dude. Then we were told Sony Soundforge 9 was used. That's it.

reading about that device there are mainly 2 options transferingwise:

- USB 2.0 (zero quality loss transfering from recorder to harddisc) or

- headphones/line out-output (quality loss as it would have to be re-recorded by computer soundcard or so)

and "Sound Forge 9.0" seems to be the audio program included when buying that device!

I had problem only with SCOM.

Thats because you simply haven't seached the files for problems. The files have errors. SCOM may have the biggest issues, but all files have errors that will translate into irregularities in playback.

Hold on some hours geez... it cant be that hard. These files are still enjoyable. Listen to them all you want, but not spread them!!

he got the wav files. all he can know, without asking, is the compression method (which he haven't informed yet)

i asked about the flac level on gold wave he does not understand what it is and all he said was high

I think I was one of the first to download this, I had NO problems with SCOM or any other songs.

as stated in the FLAC-.txt-files  ;)
and they've been converted down (highest quality settings) to 16bit/44.1khz because the majority of people cant handle 24bit playback correctly on computer or hifi system, neither do know about much. so Audio CDR standards unfortunately are still most common.

cool. I just thought you worked on the 16 bit FLAC files raspaxl posted originally with some sbe's.

i think a 24 bit version should be available. If people wants to listen to it in a CD-R, they can downsample it by theirselves (extremely easy thing to do). Once we finally get our hands on a true 24 bit 96 khz audio source, we should leave it as it is I think
