You really need to give more info than that....

What style of playing?
What guitar are you using?
What is your budget?

That'd be a good start.

I use a Les paul copy and an ibanez superstrat style, and i play heavy metal/ hard rock style music. I dont really have a budget, i want to see how much it costs first and then il work from that.

If you really want a good Marshall amp, it's going to cost you, upwards of $600  and no matter what anyone says don't go for the crappy MG series, b'coz they just suck.

Compared to a JCM xxxx the MG's suck donkeys.

Sorry dude ... they just do.  Most Marshall fans don't even class the MG series as Marshall.  In fact, the Marshall MG series is based on the old Park range, which was a company Marshall bought a few years back ...

Sorry man.  It's just the truth.  MG is Marshalls' 'budget' range.  For kids or people who don't have enough cash for a 'real' Marshall.

The 'real' marshall hasn't been the 'real' marshall for a few years... (kinda depends on what you think are the real marshalls?)

There's a lot of opinions about good amplifiers out there, and only few of those have actual facts behind them... Don't believe everything you read, (like this for example), use your judgement, and listen to the amps and then make up your mind.

Yeah, if you have real money to splurge, go for Bogner, Splawn, Aiken or one of those. If money is not an issue, it basically comes down to what kind of tone you want. Listen and buy.

Buy an old used JCM 800 or 900 and get new speakers.... cheaper and better than any new marshall.

Valve/non valve...

try to put LOUD a non-valve half stack (clean channel) and see what happens

then do the same with a valve amp  : ok:

 :peace:

Like I said a few posts before... listen.

Like Aero said... you _really_ can hear the difference. And if you have some money, don't decide after hearing the first two valve amps after comparing them to the state-ones.

Do try as many as you can and make your decision after that...
