I received an email from VR's street team with a link to vote for the next single. They ask you to rate each song from 1-10, have you choose which song you would choose as the next single, and then explain why. Set Me Free is included in the list for some reason.

I thought FTP was going to be the next single.

Wow... that is a kick ass idea!!  Getting the fan input and all.

Hmmm, if I were given the choice, I would choose Sucker Train Blues.  A close second would be Big Machine.  And uhhh... Fall to Pieces would be third... and then... well, you all get the point Smiley

Set Me Free is included in the list for some reason.

Because it was never actually released as a single.

I thought FTP was going to be the next single.

It is. I think they mean after FTP.

Yeah I definently believe they are talking about their 3rd single.

I think if FTP catches on big and wins people over they will want to throw in a Fast rocker song next, and if CB produces a 4th single maybe then go to another ballad. I dont think they want to be like Staind, and only play slow songs.

I'm thinking

STB, Headspace, or Spectable will be next

I HOPE its not SET ME FREE. My rock station played that songs a few times and the hardcore VR fans know it and it wasnt to catchy. I think CB has so many newer, fresher, rocker songs they can put out next.

Well they certainly fucked up with FTP as the 2nd single IMO.  Duff- "we're a dangerous band" so lets put out the pussiest, whinny, Stainded like, most cliche song on CB out as the 2nd single...good one.  confused
Spectacle, DIFTK, DLT and especially Superhuman would all make great singles IMO.

I voted "Sucker Train Blues".  Its one of the most immediate, rocking songs on Contraband.  Everything about it is awesome, and I believe it would work well as a single, especially since the powerful rhythm and chaotic vocals could inspire a great video.

a rocker i also like suckertrain blues

superhuman i think the references to cocaine could hurt its radio play

i personally would like to see do it for the kids

but YGNR has to be a single at some point at least 4th! it is the type of song that would make new fans by the shitload

i was playin fall to pieces for one my friends who only likes rap and he loved it so i think its the right choice

but something about YGNR, its just special

really there isnt much seperating STB.DIFTK,SH,BM,Headspace,Illegal I, to me none are really that much better or stand out more than the others, so really for a rocker they couldnt go wrong with any of those

Superhuman or STB are the obvious choices.  The formers ridiculously cool groove and catchy chorus would make for great radio play while the latters sense of urgency and trippy lyrics would be perfect for todays radio environment. yes

I think "Superhuman" has great potential at modern rock radio.  Really, this album is so strong that any one of these songs could be a single, but "Superhuman" has my vote.  "You Got No Right" is going to have to be released to radio at some point, as well.

I Concur with D. Do it for The Kids and then You Got No Right. If they don't release YGNR as a single, VR will lose 500,000 sales!

i requested STB, and it sounds like you guys did too. But i implored them, in the "why" section, to please release LTA or YGNR because they are the best songs on the album.
i REALLY hope they don't release Headspace next. it's one of the weaker songs on the album, i think, and don't get me started on FTP. still pissed that is going to be their next single when they are sitting on a goldmine with YGNR.  rant

But it will be interesting if they do choose Headspace, and you'll have a band with an amazing album that chooses the weakest songs for singles. Can't say the last time i remember that happening.  hihi

except for Slither, which is a good song. But if you look at an album like Contraband with so many awesome songs and they choose 2 that, i think, are sub-par, than you have to wonder.
But i do think that DIFTK, STB, and BM are all better than Slither.
But then again, i never felt that the singles that Guns released for the Illusion albums were the best songs on the album. i would have preferred Locomotive or Breakdown to Garden of Eden or whatever else they released outside of the trilogy.

I agree- actually disagree- they lose MILLIONS of sales if they dont release YGNR- my fave (well one of 'em!!!!!)
IF- they wanna get a great audience (not that we are the best already!  Grin)-
1. They shud release a hard-rockin song from CB, and continue shows, and gigs! MORE in England, more in Europe, they cant just tour in U.S.A. as they have fans all over- BULGARIA (Mr Brownstone!) , Japan! etc.
2. Third single- YGNR!  beer  beer  beer

It'll work my friends! Just think!
More shows on tv too- get attention
more interviews- good interviews too! etc...

And I think DUFF would be the perfect face of the next singles - and ermmmmmmm...... even album!  drool
That'll certainly win crowds/fans over!!!

I voted for You Got No Right as the next single. I hope it receives enough positive reviews from the fans so they consider releasing it as a single sometime in the future.

I also think Superhuman should be the next rocker single so I gave it a 10.

Honestly, I'm a bit disappointed they are going forward with Fall To Pieces. I do really like the song, but after listening to the album for a while I'd have to say I rank YGNR and LTA miles above FTP.

Well what do you think should be the 3rd single...

I was thinking Sucker Train Blues would be a cool video and its one of the best songs on the album.
