By the time you get done doing it, it will just be worth the money to spend the $50 on a DVD player that has region free capabilities. Especially since a lot of boots are in PAL-

If it's a burned DVD, it should play on any DVD player without problems. If it still doesn't work, Google your DVD player (brand and model number) and you can find hacks to make it play any region discs (yes, they really work).

region is NOT the same as PAL/NTSC. You can't hack a DVD player to play PAL.

Definitely. I got a Pioneer recently for around $80 which plays PAL and NTSC, as well as DivX and found an easy hack to make it region free too. There is a cheap trick to edit the headers in a PAL disc to make your DVD player think its NTSC but it doesn't always work. If I can find the link I'll post it.
ok, I found it and posted it in a new thread.

I know. Different frames/seconds along with a few other things. Most new DVD players allow PAL and NTSC playback. Region shouldn't be a factor with any bootleg. Hopefully no one is stupid enough to encode their DVDs to a certain region.

http://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks.php?select=Philips+DVP+642
I have this player, a Philips DVP642 and it plays anything I throw in there.
This is also a good site to look up region hacks, just change the search to your DVD player.
