I don't think "Mainstream" music equals shit music.

Not when it comes to the TRUE ARTISTS.

Kanye West isn't some Record label puppet.

He makes his own music,lyrics etc and he puts emotion and heart into what he does which is why he gets so pissed when he sees what he feels to be less deserving people getting the accolades he thinks he deserves.


Everyone sits and gives a fake ass smile like they arent mad they lost, he is just honest and wears his emotions on his sleeve.

Kanye, hands-down.  The gangster persona is way too one-dimensional for my tastes and - ego aside - Kanye makes some solid hip-hop songs that will outlive most musical trends these days...

rap is "shoved down people's throats" just as much as rock music is.  its not arguable either, mtv and rock radio shoves rock artists like paramore etc down our throats all the time.  if you listen to kanye west's music you'll see amazing, emotional music.  but none of you take my statements seriously, so whatever.

paramore isnt rock, just because a band plays instruments doesnt mean they are rock. paramore is just shitty emo music, emo doesnt deserve to be put anywhere near rock.

rap, hip-hop all the commercial ones and one hit wonders, same cliche fashion and lyrics have been pumped out in the mainstream now since the 90s, its time for it to die for a couple of decades just like the rock of the past.

nu metal died, but i bet it will come back eventually in a number of years.

no one would have thought glam metal would revive, but it is, more n more new bands doing it everyday and pumpin out quality albums.

but every trend needs to die out, then all the false bands go, and then you get the real quality coming through.

I like Paramore. They're most certainly not "emo," a definition most seem to misuse with ease. If you don't like them, that's your thing, but they're a rock band. You can even argue the point that they're a pop rock band, but a rock band nonetheless. Rock isn't an elitist club only "good" bands get to be in. It's got just as much shit in it as hip hop or any other genre.
