A magnet levitating above a "high-temperature" superconductor (100.37 kelvins) with boiling liquid nitrogen underneath demonstrates the Meissner effect.

One of my best concert experiences was going to the Winnipeg Folk Festival a few years ago.  Winninpeg is far enough north that you can see the Aurora borealis really well.   At night, when the headliners would play, my friends and I would trip on various substances and lay beneath sky, watching the Aurora borealis.  One night a famous blues guitarist was performing (can't recall his name), but the whole sky was filled with it.  Truly an awe-inspiring, beautiful scene to witness.

This talk just reminded me of that.

I saw the aurora once up in Vermont, usually it isn`t that common there. I lived there for 2 years and it only happened once in that time period.  It was awesome.

yes much less nerdy.......back to the first one though.......iirc...... what is being shown is how a superconductor will mimic a magnet and casue a replusion to occur.......... its becasue teh superconductor does not have any resistance it becomes teh magnets so long as its in the magnetic feild....... hence why t floats....... i think thats right.....
