they have had a thread before but i cant find it.
anyway they just got back from doing some dates with the alabama 3 and it went so well. on the last night alabaama 3 done a song onstage with the band and then invited the lead singeer of the council to go and sing on stage for there encore.

theese are the only gigss i haave seen thee audience cheering on the support act for an encore.
they are going to record there first ep next week and have a whole uk tour coming up in january coincciding with th release of the ep,plus a few dates in pris just round the corner.

it would be criminaal not to check them out.you wont be disssapointed.
go to
http:www.thecouncilband.com

andd dont be sshy lets get talking whaat do u think.post ur thoughts wetheer u like them or not.deefinately some gnr influencees in there.

There are only 3 British bands i like at the moment The Darkness aside...

DTX
Winnebago Deal
Chris Misfit and The Cunts

Pure un - adulterated Rock and Fucking Roll!

With that being said though...i am more into Metal than i ever have been before, which is mostly down to Pantera and repeated listening.

I think i may marry Phil Anselmo...or BA!  ;)

The Council rocked Islington tonight!

I didn't even know there was a band playing after them at the Hope & Anchor. Who wants to see another band after witnessing that?

Even though there were some technical difficulties, the band delivered.? Great gig! : ok:

"Day-after-the-gig-edit": I might post some pics next week once I get them sorted out. Most of them are blurry because the band refuses to stand still......? :hihi:

I also met the drummer and the rest of the band. Nice guys.

Oh! I also heard some rumours that they might be going to Mexico "soon", don't know how reliable the source is though...?

For people who don't have any idea of what the band sounds like, they have a classic rock thing going but it doesn't sound dated. They're not a nu metal or an emo band....

When I get the EP, I will try to post some kind of review here.

But then I decided to listen to the tracks.

Mr. Politician and Burns Down are fucking great.  It's like Hendrix with Black Sabbath with Marilyn Manson all rolled into one. I already listened 10 times to these songs.

So the moral is, when you've got talent you can get away with doing things like spamming and not showing up to your concerts  ;)

It's pretty cool that they're not all the done in the same exact style. For example Mr Politician has that vocal effect thing.

Also nice with guitar solos that aren't about playing the most notes in a second.  :D

Black Mass gets my vote! Awesome Rock and Roll tune, the thing i like the most is the fact that all 4 tracks have an element of Stonerism! This i love!

The vocals are ace, they do remind me of someone else though, i just cant put my finger on it!

They remind me a bit of Jimi in certain parts here and there..... Which is funny because Jimi played guitar and sang. Just like Derin does.

we have funded the ep ourselves so if all goes according to plan which im thinking it will and we sell a few copies and rainy days does well then we will pay for and release the album ourselves.
there is a few things we could do though.if worse comes to worse we will have to sign a deal.which we would rather not.or if we do we wont without having full control over what we play.

Well, XFM is the radio station that promoted the GN'R shows in the UK back in 2002 and 2001, so I'd say they're pretty big, there should be smaller stations, or stations with less listeners...

if you havn't voted, what the hell is wrong with you? one of our own is on the brink of making into the world of rock stardem and we should be getting behind him in every way possible, if the track gets the most votes it will be played again on friday around luchtime, i'm estimating they're will be about a million listeners at that time so this is pretty major!

haha,not to worry.
i didnt like the track, but i thought they would win cos they have done stuff eg played glastonbury etc.and the dj really loves that band i mean they play them allthe time.so its a bit silly really.
nevermind though xfm will regret it.

Oh well, that's just fucking stupid. I don't get it: the prize was some airplay, if they are already playing their song, what's the point?

i know.thats what i thought its a bit stupid if you ask me cos they are bound to have a bigger fanbase just for that reason, even if the song does suck.

It was a great night at the Dublin Castle yesterday. I took some friends with me, and I'm happy to announce that they have now joined the Council fan base! : ok:

The place was packed, and people were really into it, clapping and cheering. I guess the XFm thing has helped. When I saw them at the Hope & Anchor just over two months ago there wasn't so many people.

The highligt for me has to be Guinevere. I know it sounds stupid, but, because I was at the studio when they were mixing the song, I feel it like a part of me, and I was really looking forward to hear it live. It didn't dissapoint me at all.

Keep it up guys, you are on the right path : ok:

I got The Council EP a few days ago and been listening to it since.

What can I say? I was expecting something great because I've been listening to the demo mp3s from their site for months and saw the band play in London a few months ago. Well, I wasn't let down.

The EP starts with a newly recorded version of the familiar Rainy Days (Revisited) track. Great way to start of. Even people who aren't familiar with the band will like this and I guess that's why XFM played the track.

Track two is something called Guinevere. Now, this is something totally different. Seven minutes plus in length kinda tells you that this band didn't have a record company telling them to write three minute hits suitable for the radio.

Hearing the final version after spending a day listening to the mixing of the track was very nice. Now it all makes sense!

If It Makes A Change is the final track of the EP. An upbeat track with a kind of bluesy feel to it. This was the biggest surprise for me since I haven't heard them play anything like this before. In other words, it's a bit different from the other songs I've heard.

All in all, this EP shows how versatile this band really is. It's their first release so it's like they're just starting. I imagine they're gonna get better and better over time, so I'm expecting more great things from these guys in the future.

I'd recommend this EP to anybody who likes some good rock n' roll played by talented people with the right attitude.

Finally!! A review by The Boss, after days of bugging him!  ;D

I'm not gonna talk about the music now, I wanted to make another point. I've seen a few amateur or non-professional bands playing live, and almost every time I can tell whether they are gonna make it or not just by looking at their stage presence, their attitude, how they conduct themselves on stage. Let's face it: in these times looks are very important, specially for a rock band: it needs to have a recognisable image. Well, The Council looks damm cool! And when they play, obviously I don't know what each of them is feeling inside, but it looks like they've been doing it for a long time: not nervous or scared or anything, just having fun.

I bumped into two of The Council people at Wembley before the last GN'R show on the European tour.....

This drummer guy, who promised ages ago to write a drum solo in my honour, and the manager.

Imagine that!  :hihi:

I think he left them at home!

He was probably afraid Wembley Arena security would confiscate them.  ;)
