I'll be seeing Skid Row open for Poison in a couple weeks.

Is the rest of the current band comprised of original members aside from the singer?

the drummer is changed too... i read a review of a show at their website saying that the new singer blew bach away! and they played 18+life and such...  damn, he must be really good if he pulls of bach's screams!

I saw them open for Kiss a long time ago... I cant believe they haven't put an album out yet.  Anyways, I thought the new singer was good and they might be able to pull it off.... then I heard Thick is the Skin... what a SHITTY song.  [no]

Skid Row sucks and Hair metal sucks. But that is just my opinion.

1. Baz is a better vocalist
2. He's doing a solo record get that
3. The Skid Row song on the site is only ok
4. Baz will never go back to Skid Row he gets on with them like Axl does with Slash

How can they get away with calling this "band" Skid Row - they replaced half the original members... hang on a minute ;)

They do still have 3 out of 5 original memmbers which is not bad but Baz like Axl is the only irreplacble member and they don't have him anymore

He goes under the name Sebastian Bach he has 2 solo albums Bach 2 Basics featuring covers like Ozzy's Crazy Train, AC/DC's TNT, Iron Maiden's Children Of The Damned and others.  His other solo album Bring 'Em Bach Alive features Bach and a new band perform Skid Row classics live and he also has some orignal songs of his own done in a studio he is also currently working on material for a DVD and new solo album Forever Wild, for more info goto his official site these albums can only be bought from their though they can be dowloaded on Kazaa and other programs

Bach also put an album called "Last of the Hardmen" with some pretty awful songs. A cover of Cooper's "School's Out" stands out to me as the worst.

Yeah that song was crap it made it's way onto the Scream Sountrack, although i thought Bach's vocals were fine the problem with the song was the female vocals and the fact that the song dipped between Rock in parts (the bits with Bach) and crappy pop (the female vocals).

Their first album was kinda Hair Metal i'll Admit that but Slave To The Grind is an all out rock album not a sign of hair metal and Subhuman Race well if you think that's hair metal you need your ears testing, Skid Row looked like Hair Metal at first but so did GN'R and they are not Hair Metal

I can accept that Sebastian Bach has a voice you either love or hate, and if u hate it you will hate Skid Row.  Although the new vocalist is very different so to people that hated Skid Row because of Bach maybe they should give the new band a try the sound is really different

I wanna go! Bloody trains!
I think Id still rather see Sebastian Bach live over the new Skid row - the guys voice is amazing! I would put him up there as one of the best singers ever, sure his music might not be Zeppelinish in its greatness or influence - but his voice is outstanding!

Saw Skid Row last night and all i can say is fucking great!!! Suppot band Hurricane Party were class old school rock and all (Lineker10 i sugget you check them out) met the guys after got their autographs and chatted with them really sound dudes.  The other support band 'The Ga Ga's' blew they just did not fit in.  As for Skid Row.........they were class from 18 and Life to New Generation, from I Remember You to I Remember You Two it was great.  Ok Johnny does lack Bach's range but he was still very good and like he said if any fucker tells you, that you didn't just see Skid Row and that this band isn't Skid Row tell them to GET THE FUCK OUT.

On another note outside they were advertising Adler's Appetite who are meant to be playing songs from Appetite For Destruction there in Febuary, my ass is there..........i also got one of Snake's plecs  ;D.......my mate Ric0 gave him a fag and he used his lighter.. i think that lighter is scared to Ric0 now ;D

Taken from www.theloudestrock.com

Skid Row will be heading to Florida in January to shoot a video for the song "Ghost", taken from their latest album, "Thickskin". Bassist Rachel Bolan told BW&BK that the band are ?Looking at a Canadian run (coast to coast) for February. Then a west coast run in the States. Then Japan, Korea, Thailand, Taiwan, back up through Europe, UK. A lot of it will be alone. The Pacific Rim will be our own shows, the UK will be ourselves, but we?ll try to jump on some festivals in Europe. It?s cool going out and playing the big shows, but doing forty minutes is? nah. You?re just getting warmed up. We wanna do an HOUR and forty minutes. We want to do five or six new songs plus all the ones people expect.?

Two UK dates, both down south is shit in my opinion - No Manchester,Newcastle or even Scotland dates mean I wont be able to see them!

and sloinger surely do fucking truly amazingly rock damn much! he has screams from hell that the album dont show... almost those axl b(r)anshee screams....

and when they did I Remeber You (1) snake did it on an acustic guitar... and it the brigde they stopped playing cuz the band was missing.... i dont know if they where sposed to play the whole song, but solinger did bitch about it alittle  :hihi:

and they did Psycko Therapy or something by The Ramones with Rachel on vocals! and rachel did a bass solo during a song.....

i was at the fron line right infront of Snake, so i got a pick from him... i got hit a couple of times by some wanker to the left of me thinking he was the drummer and aired drum. he was so out of beat that even snake laughed at him!   the same guy wanted one of the guards there to go onstage and get him a drumstick while the band was off before the encore's

anyway, great band, best live band i have ever seen! lots of energy!!

and i really though that Snake was they lead player, but scotti hill played most solos. and that guy rocks much! he is PSYCO!! the look in that guys eyes are cruel! evil!!! funny guy.
he even help some poor guy in the front row who got pulled back by an asshole back to the front bu giving him the guitar and scotti pulled him back! that was cool!

Tim DiDuro has been named as the drummer for SKID ROW.  DiDuro from Orlando, FL. will replace Phil Varone who abruptly left the band due to "personal reasons." Tim was signed on to play for the first leg of SKID ROW's 2004 World Tour which starts in Vernal, UT in February and runs into Europe in April. He will also appear in the new SKID ROW video for "Ghost."

i just remembered, in Norway, it was Phil playing drums... atleast thats what Johnny said.. the drummer, Phil! he said...

so i guess he is back in... mr. Varone that is...  :peace:

It looks like Phil Varone could still be in then i was meant to be seeing them at the end of the week but im saving my money now for Download instead so i won't be able to shed anymore light on this matter until they update their site or release a video (what's happened to the 'Ghost' vid they were making).  There are others who like Skid Row Lineker10 and Dizzy come to mind but i guess we are their biggest fans on this board

Finally found a good review of Thickskin, one i agree with from www.allmusic.com ;

When Skid Row reunited without Sebastian Bach in 2000 and hired Johnny Solinger as their new lead singer, many longtime fans were understandably skeptical. Some were hostile to the very idea, arguing that a Skid Row reunion without Bach would be like a Led Zeppelin reunion without Robert Plant, or a Nirvana reunion without the late Kurt Cobain ? in other words, they saw Bach as irreplaceable and indispensable. Period. But Thickskin, Skid Row's first studio album with the expressive Solinger, is surprisingly good, although it should be stressed that this 2003 release is hardly a carbon copy of the band's Atlantic output of the late '80s and early- to mid-'90s. Instead, Skid Row updates their sound, offering a more modern approach (by early 2000s standards) that is obviously cognizant of alternative rock tastes. It isn't as dramatic a makeover as Tommy Lee gave himself after leaving M?tley Cr?e and forming Methods of Mayhem, but it certainly isn't a dose of hair band nostalgia, either. Those who expect the Skid Row of 2003 to sound exactly like the old Bach-era Skid Row are bound to be disappointed; those who are open to a more alternative-friendly outlook will find a lot to like about this melodic yet hard-driving effort, which fuses elements of Slave to the Grind and Subhuman Race with an awareness of the sort of post-grunge sound one would expect from the Foo Fighters, Silverchair, Creed, or Default. It's an appealing combination, although some diehard Bach loyalists will inevitably insist that an alterna-rock version of Skid Row isn't really Skid Row. Regardless, this is a decent outing ? one that falls short of essential, but is still a respectable demonstration of the band's ability to revamp their sound and carry on without Bach. ? skid row are pure class just because they lost their lead member bach doesnt mean that the band is crap. I went to see them not long back and they rocked they really did i though that the vocals of the main man wernt as good as bach but come on they are hard to beat but apart from that they really did get into their songs.

I know there has been a topic about this but whatever I don't care.

I have gotten Thickskin and I know it didn't make the charts or sell at all because of the lack of promotion but this album is very very good. It is a great rock n' roll record. Different drummer and singer, the drummer doesn't really matter that much but the singer change is a little weird but he's alright. Nothing like Bach but good.

There are 6 songs on there I adore. Does anyone have the cd? I give it 4 out of 5 stars. I like the song "One Light" alot and "Think is the Skin" "Ghost" is great too.

The best song on the album is probably "One Light" "I Remember You Two" is stupid and it fucks up the song all the way.

GET THIS ALBUM guys... Skid Row rules

I love the band. The new singer may not be Bach but he's good, when Thickskin came out i was praising it in this thread, go back a few pages to see dude : ok:  The weakest songs on the album IMO are 'Thick Is The Skin' & 'New Generation' but the album is utter class.  They cover such a wide range and have old school Skid Row songs and plenty of good new shit i recommend everyone to buy it, ignore the bad reviews : ok:  I saw them live in November supporting it and they put on a fantastic show playing new and old stuff, once again my review of that gig is a few pages back.  I also think they have done a damn good cover of their song 'I Remember You', i really love 'I Remember You Two'

Message:   Me and a friend caught the band at the club John Dee inn Oslo. The show started a bit late cause the band was checking out the TNT show upstairs. (At least thats what we were told).

When the show finally started we were already pretty drunk and ready to rock. I think they started with Slave to The Grind and it rocked!!! Johnny did that tune great and the rest of the show kicked ass.

Anyways....about half way trough the second song i noticed that it was Phil playing drums and i started wonder if i had to much to drink maybe.....not so....it was Phil and that was a nice surprise considered i was a little ****** when i read about him quiting. I havent read anywhere that he is back in the band and wonder if someone has any info on this.

Anyone heard the song "Forever" by the original Skid Row?

It appeared as a bonus track on their greatest hits album Forty Seasons.? If you haven't heard this song, download, buy the damn CD, or something.? "Forever" is far and away the best Skid Row song ever, Sebastian's vocals on it are some of the greatest ever recorded by any singer.? It was recorded in 1988, and for the life of me, I can't figure out why it was left off their first album.? It's better than every song on it.

I have to agree it is amazing, i did not realise it was so old though i assumed they recorded after Subhuman and would of used it on a new album if they had not split up because that song is pure class it makes the greatest hits album worth picking up.  Why the fuck would you leave a track like that off any album??

What`s the point? I`ve heard 1 or 2 new songs by them, not impressive.

The point is they have 3 original members and they want to go on and are still putting out good music Van Halen & Iron Maiden managed it and bands like Guns N' Roses have changed numerous members and most of us here still have faith and support the band.

Bach is a better vocalist but his quality of new tracks on that CD is medicore, Thickskin's tracks are far better, the live stuff on Bring 'em Bach Alive is good though but i have bootlegs of the old band i was hoping for more new tracks and good ones as well.

do you have any of skid rows previous albums.

self titled, slave to the grind and subhuman race?

i got those and b-side ourselves and most other stuff they let out.

i also downloaded a live bootleg named *gutter punks* but its when they first came out with self-titled and i dont like that album because it sounds to 80's to me.

im not a fan of the 80's. Some very good rock bands came out then i will agree. But the fashion was the most annoying especially van halen with hagar and those flourescent pnik and yellow trousers lol.

The 'New' Skid Row released an album back in 2003 called Thickskin [see all 6 pages of this thread], and they are currently 'working' on the follow-up but there's nothing available from that yet.

Edit: As for your question mrlee, i have 40 Seasons: The Best Of, Subhuman Race, Skid Row, B-Sides Ourselves, Slave To The Grind, Thickskin, Subhuman Beings On Tour.  Also on my computer in their entirety i have Skid Row - Live at Club Citt? Kawasaki  24/7/89, & Skid Row - Subhuman Race Tour in Japan July '95 along with their Saturday Night Live performances.

Here's an update from the website itself slightly more detailed but not to different just now it's certain:

Atlanta, GA - Skid Row has begun writing for their new album due out in May of 2005.

It looks like the guys will be working with veteran producer and good friend Michael Wagener who also produced the bands debut and second release, Slave to the Grind. Skid Row will begin rehearsals and preproduction at KODA Studios in Decatur, GA this month and move to Wireworld Studios in Nashville, TN sometime in February for the recording of the new CD.

SKID ROW have lined up the following dates during March:

Mar. 05 - Hidalgo, TX @ Dodge Arena
Mar. 09 - Daytona Beach, FL @ Full Throttle Saloon
Mar. 17 - Long Beach, CA @ The Vault

As previously reported, SKID ROW began rehearsals at Koda Studios in Decatur, GA in January and are expected to move to Wireworld Studios in Nashville, TN sometime this month for the recording of their new CD. Producing the effort will likely be veteran knob-twiddler Michael Wagener, who had previously worked with the band on their first two albums.

SKID ROW's current recording/touring lineup is believed to include drummer Dave Gara (GARGANTUA, ex-BETTY BLOWTORCH, former NASHVILLE PUSSY drum tech), who replaced Phil Varone (ex-SAIGON KICK) in May 2004. Varone had previously left SKID ROW for "personal reasons" and was replaced for a short time in January 2004 by Orlando, Florida native Tim DiDuro.

Yeah, Sebastian Bach is one of the greaest rock singers of all time.  His voice is awe inspiring.  The new guy, Johhny Sollinger...or something like that, isn't in Bach's league.  Thickskin is ok if you don't think of it as Skid Row, but if you compare it to Slave To The Grind its not anywhere close.  I'd love to see them back together.  They could open for GN'R when they get back together!

Sebastian Bach isnt as viewed by my dad nor alot of music fans as "one of the most powerful singers." Theres countless stories I remember reading about the guy getting his drunk ass pounded around the bar scene in Toronto.

Seriously? I know he may come across as a bit of a dick, he may actually be one, you may not even 'like' his voice but i don't know how you could deny the power he possess in his vocals...you want to elaborate on any of these stories?...for amusements sake if nothing else.

I dont discredit Sebastian Bach or Skid Row but I just dont percieve him as a "Great" by any means. I just never bought them as anything more then a one hit wonder a' la 18 and Life and a cheesy Canadian rip off of Bon Jovi. I Remember You ironically used to be me an my ex-girlfriends songs though.

They started out as a cheesy Bon Jovi style hair band, but they grew into more of a metal band by the time Slave To The Grind and Subhuman Race came out.

And now without Baz, they seem to have gone back to that cheesy hair-band style they began with.

1 hit wonders don't have albums debut at #1.  Especially considering the hits you mentioned weren't even on the album that went to #1.  Also I'd be interested to see who you consider a great singer if you don't consider Bach one.

"cheesy" now thats just stupid. Bon jovi is weak compared to those legends. Slave to the grind walks all over there ass. Sebastian is great, i dont hear anyone else with a voice that powerful. How are they one hit wonders. They just released there albums at wrong times i think. They released the first album when people had gone off hair metal, then the 2nd album when grundge began to take over then the 3rd, well just to late really when rock was pretty much dead. So no wonder they faded out and never became as famous as they deserve.

Can't see Snake or Scotti leaving no chance, possibilities are A) One of them is ill and he is a stand-in B) They got some new songs which require a 3 guitar line-up C) He's a friend coming along for the ride and guesting on some songs D) He's part of some support act who are touring with them.

Hope everybody is having a great summer season.
Just wanted to drop a quick note regarding upcoming shows I'm playing with Skid Row.
The last few dates have been absolutely killer!!
The guys are great, the tunes are great, I really couldn't ask for more.
I hope to see some of you at the Big Rawk Shows!!!
September 7th in London will also be my B-Day!
Below are the current dates...

Later,

According to Metal Sludge Dave hurt his hand and asked Keri to fill in for him

I found this over at the Adler's Appetite Message Board, so now we know why he's joining the band for a few shows : ok: I wish i could see them on the UK Tour but unfortunately they're not playing Manchester this time....bastards!

Rumours have been circulating that Dave 'Snake' Sabo had become friendly with SEBASTIAN BACH, and that therefore a SKID ROW reunion was imminent. We contacted Rachel Bolan, who issued the following statement: "That is all false. (Singer) Johnny (Solinger) is going nowhere. He has a project on the side (which I am involved in from a songwriting standpoint) but he is "THE" singer for Skid Row. Actually in 2006 Johnny will have been in the band longer than Baz. Which incidentally Snake has not been in contact with. So let this put the rumors to rest. This is the band. We are finishing up the worldwide deal with SPV as you read this and plan to have the new CD on the shelves soon." By Tim Henderson of Brave Words and Bloody Knuckles Magazine-Canada

What a douche Rachel Bolan is.  Does he actually think people would rather have Johhny Solinger as the singer of Skid Row?  Nobody gives a shit about Skid Row now.  I had a chance to see them last spring.  I chose instead to get really drunk and fall asleep.  If Sebastian Bach was in the band I would have killed to see them.  Then he talks about how Solinger has been in the band for almost as long as Baz was.  What a fag, like anyone gives a shit about that.  Bottom line...when Skid Row were putting out their best (by far) material, who was the singer?  I think we all know the answer to that one.

Personally i do give a shit about the new band and i've seen em live and they were damn good, what does bother me is his comment about him having been lead singer for longer because that really isn't relevant he's featured on one album Bach is the dude on Skid Row, Slave To The Grind, B-Sides Ourselves, Subhuman Race, Subhuman Beings On Tour & Forty Seasons - The Best Of.  Musically i am a fan of Bach but he does have a rep as a bit of a prick i am behind the old guys and i am actually looking forward to the new album...

I don't doubt that they're still a good live act.  Snake, Bolan, and Hill are all excellent players.  But Snake trying to downplay the impact Bach had on Skid Row is totally not cool.  IMO, they never would've had the success they had without him.

i didn't read the entire thread, but these are my thoughts on the subject..
personally, i don't think anyone would have given much of a shit about skid row without bas. the music was good, but he elevated the material so fucking much, he is one of the greatest fucking metal singers ever, and his persona, and his whole package, would anyone have cared if it was some other dude? i dunno, man...
and rachel bolan, fuck man, he organized their best of, and heavily biased the included material to the point where he didn't even include some of the best stuff they've ever done solely because it was written by bas. (wasted time)
it's depressing because well, what's skid row doing now? (opening for poison) and what bach doing now? (on gilmore girls..) but i mean supposedly bach put together a new band and hopefully they'll kick all sorts of ass.
i love bas, seriously, i think he's the fucking greatest. and probably the most impressive singer i've ever heard range-wise, and he can just do fucking anything!

Skid Row are not as big as they were but i still like there stuff and they don't JUST open for other bands and opening for Poison is NOT a bad thing.

Sebastian Bach did vocals on the Frameshift release An Absence of Empathy and it rules! The track Blaze is amazing! He is also touring with his new band while recording the album so the way i see it is even though the Baz having left sucks we do get 2 decent bands out of it..... (Every cloud....)

I agree with you on the Greatest Hits, Wasted Time is quite simply amazing and leaving it off was stupid and could only of been done because of bitterness between Bolan and Bach, no responsible person could think that song was not worthy of that album...

Edit: Despite his great vocals abilities the 2 primary songwriters in the band were and still are Rachel Bolan & Snake

ah yeah, i ordered frameshift 2 from ebay a couple days ago! i'm really excited about that! good to hear that it's great stuff!
it's really fucking sad because, okay, i'm only 16, and i've gotten into skid row in the last like two months or so, and the only fucking cds of their even available in a mainstream cd retailer is their debut and at one place, 40 seasons. at another place they didn't have skid anything.
i had to get slave to the grind on ebay. such fucking amazing stuff, and not even sold in a cd store anymore. god damn, man...

and i believe rachel's said that 'wasted time' was the biggest piece of shit they've ever recorded. rachel is either a fucking loon or must be reallllly bitter, because if not the best song they've ever recorded, it's one of them. for me it's tied with a couple of their other songs as their best.

how did they even break up as a band?? for awhile, all the information i could find floating around was that skid row 'dismissed' bach because of his ego, or somethin', but  i read a bach interview in which he said that after rachel and whoever showed him what the material they had so far, he was like, (not word for word obviously) man, this stuff is a pile of shit. so they fired him? is that how it went?

Title: Re: Skid Row thread
Post by: Hammy on October 27, 2005, 04:24:28 PM
From what i know (I'm 19 going on 20...) they split because of differences, mainly with Bach.? So when they reformed in 2000 they got back together without him.? People always have differences, many say Bach has a massive ego, who knows, i'll do a bit of digging around tomorrow see what i can come up with dude.

I know how hard it is to get their CDs Ebay is definately the BEST place, cheaper and has many you won't find in the shops, so have you heard the new album?

What i find with most bands is to ignore the differences people have and let it be about the music.? If you get the chance seeing the new band and/or Bach live it is well worth it.? Not everything will ever comes out it's best just to enjoy the music.? I remember somebody told me how i should not be a M?tley Cr?e fan if i was a Guns N' Roses (because of the VMA incident with Axl/Vince/Izzy...) but i just said i did not give a fuck.? Like i said it's about the music, bands break up just like friends fall out, i'm not one to take sides, just be happy Bach is gearing up to release a kick ass CD (and has just lent his vocals to one which i'm happy to hear you're buying....) and whether he is a dick or not Bolan is still recording decent stuff and touring with Skid Row.

Edit: Here is part of an interview from 2003:

After seven years which have seen Johnny Solinger replace frontman Sebastian Bach and Phil Varone replace Rob Affuso on drums, Skid Row are back in Europe supporting Def Leppard on tour and promoting their new album "Thickskin". I caught up with possibly THE nicest rock star in the world, Snake, backstage at their concert in Berlin.

It?s been 7 years since Skid Row were last on tour in Europe - what?s taken you so long?!

Oh my Lord - have you got an hour?! A number of things; when we got finished doing the Subhuman Race tour, the relationships between the band members, in particular between Sebastian (Bach, former singer) and myself were just so strained. It was a cancerous situation and it sort of took the wind out of everybody. When you?re having infighting over the colours on a T-shirt then it?s gone beyond normal human behaviour. And that was an everyday occurrence - you didn?t know what argument was going to happen but there was definitely going to be one

With Sebastian?

Yeah. I often attributed it to the fact that when one person?s ego becomes larger than the band, it?s really time to rethink why you?re really doing this.

Is that the reason Skid Row split up?

It hit the point where our happiness became null and void - everyday you wake up you just wish you were somewhere else, away from it. Yet we were trying to maintain this thing that we knew and loved. And the reason we loved it so much is because it?s so hard to get to these points in your career. But then success starts going downhill a little bit and you have to start being a realist. It never really affected me to be honest - popularity, lack of popularity - it didn?t really bother me cause I always looked at everything that came our way as a gift and a blessing. I?ve always been humbled by the fact that people want to hear our music and I never felt that success was a birthright, I felt that it was a gift from above. So, with my frame of mind like that and the dissention amongst the band members - Scotti, Rachel and Rob over here, Sebastian over there and myself in the middle trying to keep everyone together, it just got to the point where I couldn?t do it anymore. I didn?t want to do it anymore. So we decided to go our separate ways and in 1996/97 it really became official At Christmas time 1996/97 I made a phone call to Sebastian after getting this wicked, wicked phone message and I was like, I?m done, I?ll never play guitar with you in a band ever again. My happiness is paramount and I?ll take happiness over any amount of money.

Did you ever consider reforming Skid Row with the original line-up?

We were offered tons and tons of money to get the original band back together but I knew, and Scotti and Rachel knew, that we couldn?t do it. It would be disingenuous; it?d be strictly for the money. And that?s all well and good but you have to have some sort of happiness while you?re doing it.

When did you get Skid Row back together?

In late ?99 after the three of us had gone out and done different side projects we sort of rebuilt our friendship with one another and realised that we were really really proud of what we had created - the songs that we had created so we wanted to try and do that again. So we basically decided that we wanted to do this again because we love the company that we have, Rachel, Scotti and myself - we?re best friends. And the writing relationship that Rachel and I always had was really strong

You and Rachel wrote all the songs?

Yeah. And we lost that along the way because of the dissention in the band. It really stifled our creativity. Writing songs became work - it was never work before. And I?m not putting blame on anybody - I?m just saying it was a situation that occurred.

We knew this was going to be like starting over and we knew that we could do it because the guys in the band now (Johnny Solinger - vocals, Phil Varone - drums) are such brilliant individuals.

ah yeah, thank you, that was an interesting read. and i mean, and no matter what, even if he is a loon, (i'm not really one to say) rachel's an extremely good songwriter. and snake too obviously. although if it was really all about the music i think they would have included 'wasted time' on fourty seasons, but whatever.
anyway, well, here's what i'd found on the subject of their disintegration as told by sebastian: http://www.sebastianbach.com/archives/goodtimes2.jpg

Thanks for that, i take insults of each others music with a pinch of salt though, loads of ex-members of bands do like Adler saying Chinese Democracy is shit and the dude ain't even heard it.  In all honesty it's better than what Bach has come up with, although that's not much.  Frameshift is better but he just did vocals not writing so that does not count what i mean is the new songs on his live album Bring 'Em Bach Alive in 1999 in all honesty they were very medicore, good thing he has a new line-up now...

yeah, that is true. i'm really hoping that his new band will be shit-kickin good. his voice is fucking like... mythical it's such an incredible gift. he needs a pretty god damn good band with awesome songs to apply it to. the concept of him wasting his voice on shitty material is just, awful, man...
he said that their new album would be out next summer, which i'm really looking forward to! although they've played a couple shows already haven't they?
...are they any good, do you know?

They have played a fair few shows, due to spending my money on weed when they came to the UK i missed 'em so i can't really comment.  Fact is his voice is outstanding one of the absolute best the range his has is simply amazing and the fact that he still has it is awesome to, the big minus point is his song writing is not that good at all i hope and pray that his new line-up contains talented song writers because he cannot write music that can do justice to his voice...

yeah. i agree. it's funny actually hearing sebastian talking about skid row writing songs.. he was like (paraphrasing) 'they always took so long with everything. i mean, how long does it take to put an e chord and a g chord together?'
didn't he write wasted time? or maybe just cowrote... i dunno.
i wonder what kind of range he has? bigger than axl's, and axl's we estimated was like, what, three octaves, or something? sebastian's is truly amazing. he practices italian opera scales before shows for bloody sake! that's insane. sebastian is truly an amazing package- amazing range, rock n roll to the core, even his looks, he really lucked out in that gene pool man...

It was Bach/Bolan/Snake...

He is a lucky cunt...only thing i think he failed on was song-writing, he may pluck out the odd diamond like this but generally, and i mean on his own (or with less talented guys...) the dudes struggling...

okay, ressurrecting this thread to say- so, skid row is awesome, and i've pretty much bought all their stuff (ebay is a beautiful thing) including, recently, Thickskin, the Bach-less release of not that long ago, and their DVD.
I mean, it's cool and all, I guess, it's alright. I like a few songs. Nothing like the old skid row though, besides Bach, it seems like something's missing just in the songwriting.... anyway, even their singer is a really good singer. And I was fine with it, you know whatever, they write new songs, new singer sings them, great, call themselves Skid Row, whatever, sounds familiar. It was fine until Johnny (their new singer) started singing Piece of Me, and I just couldn't deal with it, in a lot of ways Sebastian made those fucking songs...... it just seemed so.. wrong..
It makes me kind of sad though. Rachel Bolan nowadays, no long hair and nose chain (damn he looked cool) now he kind of looks like a mall punk... and they're trying to churn out modern sounding radio friendly rock n' roll, conforming to modern day aesthestics... it doesn't sound like Skid row, when I hear it, I don't think of Skid Row. It sounds like The Goo Goo Dolls mixed with like Creed or some shit. Something is just not right.
It's not really that bad though. I love all the real skid row CDs. And their sound dramatically evolved with every release, I think they had a good (if short lived) career, a full career. They didn't just churn out the same shit because it sold well. None of their original material CDs sound remotely alike. And each is fantastic.
That said, I really like the song Born a Beggar.

Yeah cracking tune, probably one of my fave tracks along with Ghost.  The shit stuff on the album was stuff like Thick Is The Skin and New Generation, when they go for the melodic stuff they are still pretty damn good, and although you don't like Johnny singing the old songs i don't mind.  He's obviously not as good but live they were still very fuckin' enjoyable and as for the change in appearance of Bolan & Co., that's what happens when you get older, your styles change etc. it would be cool if he looked like he did, way back when, but times change and people did, he's still a great performer live especially when he belts out Psycho Therapy :headbanger:

i'm sort of a fan, so you can make it 3 1/2. So song as Johnny doesn't go over Sebastian's turf. Though I have to say, I really really really like the punk version of I Remember You.

and no wayy, the nosechain was so fucking cool, back in the day, man, rachel was a badass motherfucker. I think he looks like a mall punk type nowadays. Which is still kind of impressive consider he's... 40 (???) Though, I really like his arm electrical tape. And yeah, he's still pretty cool.

I can see how it wouldn't have made any of their records, despite it being a fucking excellent song. I find Skid Row's albums to be crafted in a certain way, with as much regard to its whole than its individual parts. And they never looked back.

Really though, with the old Skid Row band, there isn't a song I don't like. And that's not even something I can say for GN'R. Back in the day, they were so fucking great.
Looking at the liner notes of 40 seasons, their "best of" (really if people want the best of Skid Row, they should just get all their albums, 'cept skip maybe B-Sides. But even B-sides I find highly enjoyable.) ...I found it so depressing. What can you do though. I have a poster of the old Skid Row circa 1989 in my room. That's it I guess.

haha, cool. i wondered if it was maybe some type of i dunno, digital cd space shipping service in Ethiopia or something......

as for the cd, i'll buy it man, whatever. if i have any money. way more excited about the stuff sebastian's working on now though.
in some ways, i agree with rachel and snake's assesment that skid row is their band to do what they want with it, they wrote all the songs. but here's how it's different from the current GNR situation: axl didn't fire the other members, they left him. and sebastian brought those songs to life, and elevated their material, and played a large role in their success. and they just outright dismiss that and think they can replace him.

i found a really interesting article the other day from that dude Phil varone, former nu-skid row drummer. most of it is boring, but he said some interesting skid row related stuff, don't know if it's been posted before here but :

Does anyone know what happened to that video for Ghost they were going to shoot?

I've had a change of heart concerning the Nu Skid Row lately, discovered I had some of the new songs stuck in my head and decided to give the CD a fair shot. The truth to the matter is, they are a very good band. I can't help listening to it though and trying to imagine Sebastian singing on the same tracks though. Nevertheless, a really, good band. As they should be, the main songwriters are still there and still good. Favorite songs from Thickskin: See you Around, Swallow me, Ghost and Thick is the skin. and Down from Underground, as well as my old favorite, Born a Beggar. It can't really compare to the old stuff, but there's still a good band here, and I'm waiting to see waht else they'll release.  : ok:
(and how kickass is the riff for Lamb?)
I just wish they wouldn't.. call themselves Skid Row. That  pretty much makes the CD impossible to market , too, people who want nostalgia won't buy it because Sebastian's no longer there, but you can't sell it to new audiences with the same old band logo from the 80's...

I saw the vid once, a long while back now, i don't remember too much about it, i'm sure i wrote about it in this thread somewhere....

....still i'm not going to look through 10 pages for it :P

Edit.....I looked and found it....

i do know that johnny said something about the video. if i rember correct they are done filming it.... and will soon be released...
Well after all this time the video has definately been released for sure.? I was watching SCUZZ today here in the UK (channel 471) and i thought fuck i recognise this song, and this band and to my amazement it was The New Skid Row w/ the Ghost video.? I was really pumped to see they've got some more publicity.? The video was a good bach :hihi: to basics old school thing not much money spent but fun to watch and Johnny Solinger looked pretty damn cool and Snake looked a bit younger than his has been looking lately anyway for anyone in the UK who wants to see it watch SCUZZ (Channel 471 : ok:)

That's because it was hardly major and their official website sucks.  Like i said i only saw it once and it was nothing special and clearly done on a tight budget....

Cool.  Where'd you find it?  Any chance of a link?

Don't know.

Think so.

Probably (Otherwise we'd of heard some news telling us otherwise.....)

If we hear nothing in 2 months, then start worrying, their site is still active, this was actually put up their a few days ago...

Two of my all time favorite bands.. man..) regardless of the whole Sebastian situation, I would love to go see one of their gigs. It just sucks that it seems like they only really do obscure gigs in the US these days..
Was the Ghost video concert/live performing setting sort of footage or was it like storyline oriented? And here's the link to New Generation: http://www.medicinefilms.com/player.php?clip_id=184066
it's actually a pretty cool clip considering it was done on basically no money, it's hardcore  : ok:

When I saw them play in 2004, they said MuchMusic in Canada was carrying. I've never seen it, but they seem to be under the impression it's on the air.

Title: Re: Skid Row thread

yeah, I've heard that before, and I think it's hilarious. i live in canada and have much music, and watch it between commercial breaks of other TV shows in the futile hope that someday it won't be an MTV ripoff and play decent music. Not only have they never mentioned Skid Row ever, or any old school bands, if they have EVER played Ghost it was like once at 3 in the morning...
it's almost sad... i think, if anything, the reason that Nu skid Row hasn't caught on with the masses (aside from the Sebastian thing) it's because they're trying too hard to be relevant today, it all sounds too modern, almost contrived. Especially Rachel. Now, okay, I love Rachel I think he's a kickass musician and cool as shit, but he changes his image whenever a new fad comes around. During Subhuman race Grunge era he had short cropped hair and a fucking goatee and baggy clothes. I think he's really really cool but it makes him look like a sellout trying to appeal to whatever's cool at the time.
and the thing about Thickskin, despite being a very good record musically, and i do enjoy it, is that there's nothing on it that hasn't been done before, especially by themselves circa Slave to the Grind and Subhuman Race. Everything else on it sounds like above average Creed and goo goo dolls, nickelback etc.
To be honest, I don't know what they're trying to achieve musically other than to appeal to modern audiences. This is why it seems so contrived to me.

SKID ROW have issued a statement rejecting their former singer Sebastian Bach's claims that they have been "us[ing] [his] picture and voice to promote their bait-and-switch 'gigs'."

In a May 28, 2006 posting on his web site, Bach wrote, "I am getting tired of making this announcement but everytime two-fifths of my old band does some, shows they use my picture and voice to promote their bait-and-switch 'gigs', so I will say it again:

I AM NOT IN THE BAND SKID ROW.
I HAVE BEEN SOLO SINCE 1996.
I AM NOT PLAYING ANY CONCERTS WITH SKID ROW.
I AM NOT PLAYING THE STARLAND BALLROOM WITH SKID ROW.
I AM NOT PLAYING THAT CLUB IN INDIANA WITH SKID ROW THAT HAS AN AD IN THE NEWSPAPER NEXT TO MY PICTURE THAT SAYS 'PAY $50 FOR A VIP TICKET TO MEET THE BAND!!!'

"Not only that but ...

SNAKE SABO IS NOT IN SKID ROW.
ROB AFFUSO IS NOT IN SKID ROW.

"If you go to see 'SKID ROW' in 2006, you are in fact going to see only two out of the original five members of the band."

Responding to Sebastian's claims, SKID ROW have issued the following statement via their official web site:

"Though we usually ignore our former singer's rants and accusations, we felt we had to respond to his recent boldfaced lies. We do NOT use his image to promote our shows. In fact, there is a clause in our show agreement that states 'Venue to use ONLY current, band-approved photo for advertising and promotion.' No bait, no switch. But to be sure an old photo hadn't fallen through the cracks, we had our booking agent double-check. Here is the correspondence between the buyers of the shows and our agent:

"From the buyer of the two Indiana dates.

"Hi Mark, I have spoken directly with Vic at Club Fever and Mike at Jamz, neither has done that. Vic laughed and said, 'I'm in the clear! I know better than that, I know he isn't in the band any more!' And Mike hasn't used any photos at all in the paper, and has a black & white photo from the media page that I sent to him. Mike did, however, bring up something interesting; Sebastian just appeared at the horse track in Anderson, IN...did they use a 'SKID ROW' photo in the paper to promote him...
Let me know.
Thanks, Kim

"From the buyer of the NJ show.

"Hi Tony: Although I know better, I have been asked to confirm with you that, in the course of advertising the SKID ROW show, you have not used any artwork that includes Sebastian Bach. Please confirm, by return email, that this is the case.
Thanks, Mark

"Obviously, we haven't used any artwork that includes Baz?.the band does need a new pic so we can put one on our website?.what's up????"

"[Band message continues] As most of you know, [Sebastian] was let go almost a decade ago so we obviously have nothing to gain by connecting the SKID ROW name to his. No bait, no switch.

"Secondly. Now if the claim that Snake is not in the band is true, then someone has perfected human cloning being that it was Snake playing guitar in Burnsville, MN on 5/5/06, Menomonee, WI on 5/6/06 and Las Vegas, NV 5/13/06. And it was Snake with us in Atlanta, GA taping a segment for CNN (to be aired in September). And it was in fact he who was there while we were doing our most recent photo shoot for our new CD (coming in October).

"Snake has carpal tunnel in his left arm. This has put him temporarily in the position of performing limited shows. He is trying to rehab his arm with physical therapy instead of surgery. It was his decision for us to continue doing shows with a temporary replacement player. Snake WILL be playing June 22, 23, 24 which includes the Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, NJ. And if his arm is okay he will continue to perform more shows. All that being said, he is in the band.

"Finally. The claim that WE would charge a fan to meet us is preposterous!

"Hopefully this clears everything up. See you at the shows."

Does Rachel just never age? And I think I remember those boots circa 1989- right on dude.
I'm happy they're finally releasing another album soon. Despite everything, I'm quite eager to hear how it sounds.

I didn't know this, but on Supergroup, the radio guy said Skid Row is touring without Bach.  I had no idea they were still around, outside of GNR my music knowledge doesn't have alot of depth.  What is Skid Row all about now? is it the same group but with Bach? and what happened that Bach is no longer with the band?

not the case...
Rachel Bolan, Scotti Hill and Snake are the new Skids... they are all original, so its just the singer and drummer that aint...

I thought it was funny that Baz was bad-mouthing Skid Row for still using the name when it's not the original line-up, yet he has no problem with Axl calling his band GN'R with even less original members.

Maximum Metal Review

Skid Row - Revolutions Per Minute - 2006 - SPV

Sure it isn't "Slave To The Grind", but it sure is damn good. Rock and rollers Skid Row are hitting high numbers with "Revolutions Per Minute", a rowdy good time that plays like white trash while spewing golden glory Hollywood hair metal. It seems like this is the revolution, happening right before our eyes while we watch 80s and 90s high class acts like Warrant, Winger, Bang Tango, and Quiet Riot check in with new releases in 2006. Ex-Bachless once again, Skid Row follows up "Thickskin" with another fantastic outing. This one probably leans more towards the fine, punk themed ventures of Brides Of Destruction than the silly, alternative colored "Thickskin". Vocalist Johnny Solinger lights up the mic here, really bangin' out some serious sing-alongs with cuts like "Another Dick In The System" and the fun filled "White Trash". While some songs continue the radio friendly ploy (see "Disease" and "Strength"), other songs like "When God Can't Wait" burn with a punk spark. "You Lie" checks in (twice actually) with some humor filler. Not necessary, but it is hard rock...we need the vibe. Obvious highlights are "Let It Ride" and the groovy "Love Is Dead".

Bottom Line - Another steady hard rock venture from one of the genre's finest. Dirty, loud, and nasty...with a touch of good radio friendly songs.

Skid Row - Revolutions Per Minute
Chad Bowar - http://heavymetal.about.com/od/cdreviews/fr/skidrow.htm

It's been more than a decade since Sebastian Bach recorded with Skid Row, but his shadow still looms large over the band. Original members Dave "Snake" Sabo, Rachel Bolan and Scotti Hill still remain, and they've added drummer Dave Gara. This is the second CD recorded with vocalist Johnny Solinger, and the 2006 version of Skid Row sounds much different than the 1989 version.
Revolutions Per Minute is a really diverse album. You'll hear melodic metal/hard rock in the vein of their biggest hits, but Skid Row also shows many other sides. "You Lie" is a twangy country song that morphs into metal, "When God Can't Wait" sounds like the Pogues, there are a lot of punk influences, and they even do a cover of the Alarm song "Strength."

The band made an excellent choice when selecting Solinger as their vocalist. He is not a Bach clone and his style is much grittier and his voice lower pitched. This CD has a lot of really catchy songs, good musicianship and showcases many different facets of Skid Row.

Review of SKID ROW ? Revolutions Per Minute

It?s the second coming of Skid Row. Although the last record, Thickskin, signaled a new beginning with recently-recruited vocalist Johnny Solinger, it took this record to have everything gel properly.

Sounding fresher than ever, the band has produced a terrific record that will last a long time in your stereos. Always strong songwriters, the band has written 11 songs that all stand up, each with their own identity?and a couple of interesting ones at that, but more on that later. Led mainly by the songwriting of bassist Rachel Bolan, guitarists Scotti Hill and Snake Sabo also contribute as Solinger puts his signature on top.

The disc opens with a really commanding cut, ?Disease? that sets the bar high right off the bat. Solinger sounds excellent, able to soar over the verses effortlessly but adding just enough grit to give it some muscle. Getting even more intense is the sardonic ?Another Dick in the System? which picks up the pace over the already rapid beginning.

The first great cut is ?Pulling My Heart Out From Under Me? which has a nice riff and sing-along chorus. A big surprise comes in the form of the next cut ?When God Can?t Wait? which sounds like a Flogging Molly song that should be played in front of some soccer crowd, yet still retains the Skid Row attitude. Nice to hear the boys having some fun and switching things up a bit. ?Strength? is another terrific cut that is made so by the terrific vocals of Solinger. Another surprise greets the ears when ?You Lie? gets cued up. It?s a country-tinged song that sounds like the Rebel Meets Rebel record before throwing the hammer down at the end. As with the punk-ish song, the variety of material here is refreshing.

Skid Row is back in a big way with a strong record that is bristling with all the snotty attitude of their 1989 debut.[/i]

There, some positivity for ya!  I've only had a chance to give it a quick listen, thought it was fairly good though...... : ok:

personally this album didn't do anything for me and was rather painful to listen to. partly because it sucked, partly because it's skid row and it sucked. and this is the first time skid row has ever sucked for me.
captain pal, you're damn right rachel rules. rachel is a fucking rad motherfucker.
personally,  i think he should go back to prunella scales. now that was something fresh, innovative, fuckin awesome out of your brains coolness.
for those who don't know, prunella scales is this experimental rock n' roll punk band that was one of rachel's side projects when skid row initially disbanded. they only made one cd in 1997 called Dressing up the IDiot, but it is one of the best cds i own. and rachel is a fantastic singer.
i'd reccommend getting that over getting revolutions per minute.

Title: Re: Skid Row thread
Post by: spacebrain5000 on November 02, 2006, 09:07:43 PM
i would disagree to the sentiment that sebastian bach is skid row- the main songwriters were always rachel and snake.
i read a review that once described skid row (especially slave to the grind) as glam thrash. and i absolutely agree with that. i always saw it like, rachel was the thrash, snake was the glam, poppy sound. and together it created a sonic fusion of awesomeness. they really are(were) a unique band, especially slave and subhuman race.

and then sebastian wrapped it all up and definitely embodied everything that skid row was.
but the soul of skid row to me is rachel and snake.

for example... i've heard a few live bootlegs of some of sebastian's new songs off his new cd with his new band.. and while musically it's okay, and bach is in as always, beautiful form vocally, the thing that is fundamentally missing is lyrically. skid row always had really beautiful unique, kick you in the face but in an almost thoughtful provocative way lyrics heavy with lots of imagery and symbolism and it just sounds so god damn good. eloquent and rip your balls off. that also, was skid row to me. because when you have sebastian bach as your singer, you better make sure what he's singing (and screaming) sounds fucking good.

and while skid row's new singer vocally is (somewhat) talented, he's no a rock star, he's almost nondescript to me. bach was just the perfect fucking fit. and it's just never gonna be the same.
i think, personally the skid row ship has basically sailed for now. i think they mostly just want to hold on to the name, former glory. like i said, i think they should disband, rachel should go back to prunella scales which is(was) a fucking brilliant band.
wow long post.
............basically, i fucking love skid row. (old school man)
skid row and gnr are my all time favorite, favorite god damn bands.

When you mention Skid Row, Bach comes to mind. He's got one hell of a voice. But you do make a good point. I got to see Bach in action tues nite. His new songs sounded good, but the lyrics were not up to Skid Row standards, Ill give ya that.

do u think the original members and bach will ever kiss and make up or is that as laughable as Slash re-joining Guns N' Roses???

its just kills me, cuz as SpaceBrain said, Bach was just the fucking perfect fit for Skid Row.

i mean part of the reason they fired him was due to the poor album sales but i doubt their past two albums did very well so whats the difference.

i know bach can be a dick, i watched alot of supergroup and was pretty shocked, but i mean they got along with him for the first three albums so.....

well, wheni said skid row i mean on the band, not seb

one great badass band in the late 80'es era

first album is an excellent album, seconfd very good (but on that album we could see that the band goin' to heavy)

after that they were realising subhuman race, but that was the era of stupid grunge rock and that was stupid album in that style

baz is one of the greatset frontman for me,and they had excellent guitar player, for me much much better than slash (my dream combination axl -snake)

his 1992 donington performance of"youth gonna wild" for me is one of the best live performances

its debated whether he left or they fired him...

baz side of the story was that they didnt want to do anything and were just sitting around.. and wouldnt let baz work on songs.. and it was the last straw when Rachel turned down opening for the Kiss reunion tour in 1996

according to the other side his ego got too big they said and he was gone...

you mean thrash.

I dont think it sounds like trash.

i think they just made heavier style of rock music, and really put more effort into their playing.

At the time when it came out I only liked a couple of songs on there, but listening to it in recent years I think Subhuman Race is awesome. I don't hear Bach's voice worn out at all either. I think that album is pretty underrated in general.

Its easier to hear it if you view moscow live show, then budokai 95.

his voice sounds different on subhuman era than the pervious two, bit rougher from use i think.

also i liked them more more than any other hair band (bon jovi, poison, motley crue, def lepar),these guys had a very strong attitude, and sab was "crazy" man

after axl,he is my favor frontman

on subhuman race i didn't recognize his voice,he had a very trong voice there

i don't know why they changed style and went to heavy (they had one song on subhuman race in rage against the machine which name is "beat yourself blind")

it's very sad because our society listen crap music, and bands like skid row don't on the top

well yes, they had 1995 their headline world tour, but it was tour in clubs with 2-3000 people

but 1991 they played on stadiums with gnr,for example in wembley 1991 when they opened for gunsnroses 25% were skid row fans

yes, they played with pantera co headline tour

Skid Row bassist/songwriter RACHEL BOLAN has started pre-production with Atlanta based punk-pop hardcore band THE LUCHAGORS, who feature former WWE superstar Amy "Lita" Dumas on vocals. The band will be heading into the studio with Bolan at the production helm late January. The Luchagors lineup includes Atlanta horror king Shane Morton on guitar along with Troy King and Jay Leslie Hedberg on drums and bass. "They are real. Its honest, aggressive punk that sticks in your head. They're great players with great songs" Bolan said. When asked about the transition from wrestling ring to the concert stage Dumas replied, "Music has always been such a big part of my life. I am excited about immersing myself into The Luchagors full time now. I can't wait for my fans that have stuck with me for so long to see me take on something totally different." The Luchagors' yet-untitled debut will be out before summer.

I didnt think too much of Subhuman Race... but what kicked ass on that abum kicked fucking ass!
but the same with new Skid Row too...  Not all are awesome songs, but the songs that are cool kick you ass from here to hell! (if you ask me...)

but the newest album was weird... i mean, there are loads of cool shit, but its not were they should be..

Solinger sure did influence the guys with his country crap :p

That was a huge mistake to kick him out. At least with Bach they could get on one of those has-been tours with RATT and POISON. Without Bach who gives a shit about Skid Row? How many people bought their last two sucky albums?

Bach did very little songwriting just look at the credits on the old albums.

The Greatest Hits was a joke they left off several classic tunes just as a way of say "Fuck you Baz".

Going off how he was on that VH1 Show i'm not suprised they fell out with him, i have been a big fan for a long time but everything people had ever said about him on that show which many fans had chosen not to believe (like myself) seemed to be confirmed on that show he seemed like a total dumbass, jackass and a big kid.

Bach since leaving the band has done a limited amount of material the best being the stuff he did not write i.e. Frameshift's album & his live album, the old Skid Row numbers were way superior to his medicore studio songs.

New Skid Row kick ass live and i liked their albums, unfortunately their doesn't seem to be much playback in them, intitally enjoyable now i get bored real quick and rarely listen to them whereas Slave To The Grind is always going to get banged back in my CD Player....

If you were of age around 1990, you'd have to live in a cave to not have heard of NKOTB. They sold like, a billion albums. Think of Justin Tinkertoy x 1000 in terms of hysteria and screaming 10 year old girls (even if he sells more CDs).

was it nostalgia? sure. but they are talking about doing a new record next time they go out in 08 or 09

Did Red White and Crue ship platinum or scan platinum? Also, remember that double albums scan 2x so their numbers are inflated.

"If I Die Tomorrow" got a few spins and faded, as did "Hell on High Heels," "Afraid," and "Hooligans Holiday," but the Crue haven't actually had a solid hit for years.

Listened to this entire album today and WOW, this is truly one of the greatest albums of the 90's. Every song is amazing.

This album doesn't get the credit it deserves that is for sure/.

Someone one day said they liked this better than AFD and I blased them but u know what, I don't think its as good as Appetite but DAMN this CD is better than most Cd's of that era and one of the best albums I've ever heard in this genre.

I got this album not that long ago and like I said in the Best 2008 Albums thread, I don't often go back and immediately listen to an lbum again. Though thefirst time, I remember Get The Fuck Out, Livin' On A Chain Gang and Wasted Time standing out for me.

And I guess this could apply for a lot of albums, but a lot of the lyrics I didn't.... "get". I was thinking, what does that mean exactly?

But I'll definitely go back and listen to it - or parts of it :P - again.

When I was a kid, I didn't understand the album. I didnt understand "quicksand Jesus" but FUCK this song is Powerful. one of the best songs also of that era. I can't believe I didn't dig it sooner.

Riot Act, Psycho Love, Creepshow, Monkey Business, Slave to The Grind, Wasted Time of course.

Bach truly is one of the greatest vocalist ever. His voice is so fucking powerful and has so much diversity and range. He definitely just going on pure singing talent, could be one of the 5 best ever rock vocalist.

i also think its production is fantastic, this is a prime example of how to mix a rock album. the guitars really rip.

Sebastian Bach dishes on April Fools Facebook reunion post

Former Skid Row frontman Sebastian Bach posted to his social media sites this past weekend that he was ?getting the band back together.? While he later allowed that it was simply an April Fools? joke, and that he "never mentioned Skid Row", the post gained serious legs and the internet buzzed with the possibilities.

Fox News ran with the piece which then took on a life of its own.

In an exclusive interview with the Boise Music Examiner today, Bach talked about the incident.

?It?s hilarious,? laughed the singer. ?Fox News picked it up, but it was April Fools.?

On Monday, Bach followed up with another post which read in part, ?Where there is smoke, there is fire. Kinda sorta.?

In prodding the vocalist about that tease of a comment, he offered his take on the situation.

?Where there?s smoke there?s fire. What I meant by that was that we got offered a couple of reunion shows. A lot of the time people say ?why how come you aren?t together??, and I?ve never been offered any reunion with those guys until this year. There was a couple of offers for this Knebworth gig in England. Sonisphere? And they actually printed up a poster, ?Kiss with special guests Skid Row?, and that was actually a real thing, but those guys did not want to do it.?

Yeah not sure what the guys in Skid Row are thinking.  It's not like they are playing comparable venues without Bach.  They are literally playing bars and bowling alleys.  With Bach they could easily play the 1,000-3,000 seat venues and be packaged with some bigger rock tours.  They literally are running the name into the ground.

Cheers to that!

Skid Row return alone wouldnt have much impact in my opinion...but if they managed to return and tour with GNR that would be a different story.  When they broke up in 96 they were already playing small theaters 5k -10k people capacity. 20 year of a commercial hiatus in a world that rock is not on top anymore surely will have its toll on the band if they return.

Exactly. That hate is greater than the hate Axl had for Slash. Skid Row wouldn't get a tenth of what GNR guys are getting if they were to reunite, yet they still won't do it.

From a vocal standpoint I always thought Bach was top 10 vocalists of all time.

He has a great rock n roll voice. He doesn't bring anything as far as songwriting goes though.

I concur.

Bach himself is a bigger draw than Skid Row.

I enjoyed when he opened the shows on the 2006 tours.

Too bad they can't put their differences aside and tour together again.   Would make a nice opening act for GnR.

There's still time to just hash it out. All they gotta do is just get in a room and just talk it out for hours.

I don't understand. I know Sabo come out and said that no one is comfortable with them doing anything with Bach... why?

Cause he booked a KISS show in 1996? GTFO

I know it is more than that, but that was the clincher it sounds like. lol Skid Row would be a fantastic opener for them, and Bach would help Axl through the tour if any problems arised with Gn'R...

That's if Skid Row were actually cool.

Skid Row is basically playing bars these days.  That's how much they don't want to get back with him.

Yeah it's not like the GNR situation, where the band was still playing big venues without Slash and Duff.  Skid Row is literally playing the same bars my friends cover bands play in my town.  Bach is playing bigger venues without the Skid Row name.  You have to figure if Skid Row got back with Bach they would play 2,000- 3,000 seat venues on a regular basis.  Also their music without Bach has been terrible, I honestly don't understand their thinking with this.  He is more than willing and able to do it.  He must be the biggest pain in the ass in the world.

Title: Re: Skid Row thread

Yeah with Bach, he's in my opinion a top 10 rock vocalist of all time. Just an incredible vocalist. I just don't get it though. Pain in the ass or not.

Yeah they are playing like 100-200 people bars. In the early 2000s they were doing small clubs, but now it's just a cheesey nostagia thing basically. I was thinking Skid Row would ride the coatails of Gn'R and be the opening band for them. That would be really cool, but it just seems like he indeed is a major pain in the ass.

He does come off a little high maintainence. I don't know though man, they'd make some good money with him back in the band. Bolan/Sabo is still there. bach didn't bring anything writing wise to the table really but his singing made Skid Row.
