The show was truly amazing. I stand in the front and when the first notes to WTTJ began I thought that the place should explode. It looked like Axl had a great time, he joked with us and laughed.
Frank was absolutely amazing, so much cred to him. He had a really great time, he had a big smile all the time. It was really cool that Dizzy played some Abba in his solo, that was great. When Bumblefoot played Don't Cry the whole crowd singed with him, that was wonderful. Axl's voice was incredible, all I can say is wow!

I mailed Bumblefoot after the show to thank him. He said that the crowd was one of the best so far at the tour and that he had a great time in Sweden.

In a couple of days I will upload some pics and videos at my website, stay tuned. First I'm going to Oslo for my second Guns N' Roses-concert in my life. =) I hope it will be almost so great as it was yesterday.

Finally I found a review that didn't smash the concert! Dagens Nyheter (Daily News) is not a tabloid, it's the biggest morningpaper in Sweden. The article recognize Axl as a great artist and are writing the truth about the new bandmembers, that they played well! ok

well i've read it now.. i maybe do a translation tommorrow it's almost 1.30 in the morning right now.. kinda tired and lazy right now.. but i can say some things about it.. the reporter says that it's hard to find older and die-hard fans that like and respect this new band.. he was dissing axl for changing his clothes so many times.. he says that he hopes that the album will be delayed even longer because he didn't like the new song so he wanted an improvement on them.. too many AFD songs, 8 of the 12 songs from AFD were played.. he says that he thinks that there will be a re-union because the fans wants it and this band does not have o future and that the CD will flop.. (dunno if you say flop in english but anyway)

i may be writing a better translation tommorrow or another swede will maybe do that ok

Okay, I tried... Not a very good try, but I tried. It's now 4.30 in the morning and I desperately need some sleep...

A long time since Guns N? Roses reached its peak.

Because of restrictions from the promoters, unacceptable to DN (Daily News) we wont publish a picture. (<-- Haha, I find that very funny! rofl)

Yes, I would like to say that Guns n?Roses (Guns N? Roses dammit! Angry) belongs to the classic rock bands. Even if I do it with certain hesitation. Mostly because their production is so small, and still so uneven. Most of their hits are on the debut album ?Appetite for Destruction? from 1987, if you take away those you don?t have much left to build an arena concert on. In The Globe they play 8 of the albums 12 songs, and no one can argue that it was at that time the group reached its peak.

It was a long time ago. Today, Axl Rose is alone from those days Guns N? Roses. Only one other member, keyboardist Dizzy Reed, was there when the group released their latest album, the coverbagatelle (kan man saga s?? N?n som har en b?ttre ?vers?ttning?) from 1993 ?The Spaghetti Incident??. And it?s hard to find someone, even among the die-hards, who has accepted today?s eight piece band as a worthy Guns N? Roses.

On top of everything, the last 12 years been spent on recording an album, ?Chinese Democracy?, which release has been post-poned for so long, it has become a laughingstock in the business. It is planned to hit shelves in the fall, the one who lives will tell. Judging by the five songs they played in The Globe, I hope it takes even longer.

The signs of a has-been are in other words many. But the concert in The Globe sold out quickly and the audience is both young and enthusiastic. Singing along, waving cigarette lighters, throwing souvenirs on stage. Treating him like the big rock star he is, other than the intense eccentric he is as well.

Not that the two sides can be parted. If Axl Rose didn?t have his demons and peculiarities, he would not be the same artist, and the bizarre stream of rumours about his personality has not made peoples interest for him smaller. A few people had probably made their way to The Globe to see the sad remains of a beforehand burned out genius.

But it definitely wasn?t a wreck standing on stage in The Globe late on Monday evening. If anything Axl Rose was surprisingly well preserved, even if his hairstyle, draids in a ponytail, was new. The voice was the same insistent, hoarse welding flame (??) as always. Not always with the same intensity, but that?s a good thing. And the band sounded almost flawless.

You can always claim that six solos, where everyone except one person leaves the stage is five too many. That?s probably Axl Rose?s decision, as are many other things. During each solo he takes the time to change clothes, which gives a strange impression, because he only switches a shirt for another. He even has a clothing change in the middle of the encore.

Such affectations are not his old band mates dealing with. Three of them are nowadays in Velvet Revolver, a competent rock band without mentionable charisma. Others are making insignificant solo careers. No one attracts nearly as much attention as Axl Rose and Guns N? Roses. Even today?s Guns N? Roses.

And the explanation is Axl Rose. His one-of-a-kind voice and unique energy. Even if it is seductively easy to make remarks there is also something impressive about him and his way, that makes all his songs as big as possible.

Especially the ballads, that often seems to grow above all limits. But also the rock songs, which he faces head first and sings whole-heartedly.

Behind him, the band gives him well-needed support, but they stay very anonymous. There are three solo guitarists, very talented, but you still find yourself missing Slash, the guy with the big hair who was what Keith Richards is for Mick Jagger. ?Tr?tobrodern och sparringpartnern. Det m?ste ha med karisma att g?ra.? (<- I?m not even gonna try translating that?) How much pyrotechnics are used, is unimportant.

My guess is that a reunion is coming (he had to say that, had he..? Roll Eyes). Just because so many people want it and at the same time Guns N? Roses new direction does not seem to have a bright future. But before that ?Chinese Democracy? must be released and be a minor flop. And Axl Rose must have time to digest it.

That review is actually pretty fucking negative if you ask me.  I hate to admit it, but this European tour, despite a few positive reviews, seems to have been pretty much a critical flop thus far.

I also belive this to be true... i hope its a great album but i think only GnR fans will like it.. it wont be a chart topper tho

this reviews will only be good reviews when the band realese the album
while this doesn't happen we'll always hear things like "this is only Axl" "Guns n Roses needs Slash"
when this fuckers hear studio recording of Better or Madagascar they will shut up.

yes, "as well" is true.  But I spent 2 whole years harping on the negative eccentricities, but now I'm focusing on the music, the tour and Axk's good mood. I just had to move on lol.

I enjoyed the solos on the 15th, but I see what he means.  However, I think Robin has been stepping up to the plate.

Thanks Emilie for the translation Smiley

What a show!

We got there a bit late, cause we were drinkin' and all, but we managed to see the last Avenged Sevenfold song. They played 'Bat Country'. Why do I bring this up you may ask. Well, their singer (M. Shadows I think he's called) finished off the song with the "Chi-hild, chiii-hiii-hiiiiiiiiiild" like you've heard Axl do on Live Era. I thought that sounded really good.

Then we had to wait... Atleast they played a couple of decent songs on the speakers... Then suddenly, the lights got turned off and you could hear synth-violins or whatever. Then you could hear an electric guitar...
Oh my God, the place went nuts ----- and then WTTJ started!

The crowd went now even more nuts. Jumping and screaming and pushing! It was crazy!

After Mr. Brownstone, Axl talked about how great the crowd was. It was the loudest or best so far!
He then nailed the screams on LALD.

First new song of the night was Better. Axl introduced Mr. Robin Finck and said that he was the man behind the song! Better was great live!

After that we got served SCOM. The place went even more nuts! Axl had to wait some time before he could talk after the song, cause everybody was chearing like a mofo!
Now, everybody who claims that Finck can't play SCOM: Shut the fuck up! He was the best part of that song!
KOHD was next and the crowd was singing with so loud that I thought that there wouldn't be a sing-a-long! But there were... Axl was truly amazing on this song! Pure magic!

The Dizzy played a solo. He played S.O.S. by Abba. That was funny.
On Out Ta Get Me Richard Fortus was on fire. I think I looked more at him than on Axl!

Then there was November Rain time. And just when Axl started playing the intro, but he started laughing. So he stopped and told the crowd why he was laughing: "Someone in the crowd was shouting: Axl, you're the king. Then some other guy shouted: And the queen". Hahahaha. Axl was laughing and having fun.

Maddagascar is a monster live.
Nightrain was amazing! Everybody went crazy! Then the lights got turned on and the band left the stage. But only for like 1/2 a minute.

Then the best song of the night! Chinese Democracy! Who would have thought that it was so great live? Not me. I was completely blown away from the start by Finck. He played a different beginning than I've heard before. This was a better beginning IMO. Oh my God! What a song! Even Pitman was rockin' it!

Then Tommy was out talking to Axl. Then Axl said something like: "The band have decided to play another song. I have nothing to say in this". While he was smiling. IRS was better live than demo. Surprise. Then Axl told us about how patiente we had been and started practising his whistleing. Then we saw an acoustic guitar   Patience was next. Also a sing-a-long by the crowd.

Then it was the last song. Paradise City. The song was a great ending to a great show!

Here's my overall impression on each member of the band:

Richard: He was really energetic and played with lots of intensity. A true rocker.
Finck: Amazing live. He nailed CD and made it a killer song.
Stinson: Was having fun. He wasn't that much on my side of the crowd, so I don't get to see him that much but I noticed him smiling.
Thal: G&R is lucky to have him in the band. He playes his parts extremely well and he runs all over the stage. Looks like he is enjoying it.
Reed: I liked his solo the best. He playes with intensity and looks cool doing it.
Pitman: He was rockin' it way in the back. All the new songs sounded great, so he is doing his job well.
Frank Ferrer: Axl said during the show that Frank had said that he was living the dream... A good drummer substitute. Didn't hear one mistake.
Axl: Truely brilliant! His voice was sharp during the whole show. He really impressed me. He was running around having fun and really enjoying himself. He was amazing!

Cause this crowd was all into "new" Guns. Nobody was asking for Slash and everybody was chearing like crazy. The crowd was loud.

That's something that almost every band do. Just trying to make the crowd feel special and have a "connection" with them, which leads to a better concert.
