Smiley I wonder how many people are going to have Halloween Trees now. I think he started a new trend, haha. Smiley

Well it's simple enough if people want to do it... hihi

Put up your Halloween tree, with all of the decorations until say the end of November. Then keep the tree up, but just change the decorations to suit the festive period. If anything it will just give you more time to prepare things to your taste, and give you alot of room for changes.

Axl has the right idea!!!... Grin

I was happy to see Axl getting out there again. He looked good and happy and in good spirits. I think Kimmel is great, but thought the interview was a little too cheesy and that he was not really prepared with any good questions. I am glad Kimmel stayed away from the old GNR questions, but I would have liked to hear some stories from the road from the last few years. There must be some great stories to tell, maybe talk a little bit more about the Vegas shows, talk about all the jewelry he wears, if he has a girlfriend, ever wants to have kids, etc. I felt Kimmel was stuck on the being late thing and was nervous to ask anything that may annoy Axl. I hope Axl had a good time and does more of these types of interviews, because his fans really want to see more of him. I would love to see him host and play Saturday Night Live one day.
In Kimmel's defense, the guests usually set the tone for the direction of the interview.  They are pre interviewed by the staff to find out what they want to talk about.  So my guess is, Axl said what he wanted to say, for the most part.  That's just the way these late night talk shows operate.  If Axl really wants to open up and let loose, an arena like The Howard Stern Show would be more appropriate.  There he'd have free reign to talk about everything under the sun for an hour plus.  Going on Kimmel was the safe choice to promote the upcoming shows, himself, and the band.  Overall, mission accomplished.  ok

It is not the way it went with Axl. The Kimmel staff never spoke with Axl. They were told by me that they could ask whatever they felt it was appropriated. Axl did not want to choose or avoid any issue. Kimmel asked whatever he wanted to ask. His interview was live, so, no editing or retaping. Axl did have a great time. Thank you for watching.

I'm glad he went on Kimmel, I've never seen him make a guest uncomfortable (which Letterman tends to do) but it's too bad GNR didn't play.

It's actually not a new idea. I saw them in New York about 15/20 years ago in a couple of their dept stores, and in the UK, I have seen them sold in Selfridges, John Lewis and Harvey Nich's over the years. I am sure I have even seen them in one of the bigger Disney stores too.

Nothing groundbreaking, but I thought this was pretty cool.  I went onto www.ctnow.com to check and see if I could find out some information on how the southern part of the state is faring from the Hurricane.  I'm SUPPOSED to go down that way for work tomorrow, so I just wanted to make sure roads weren't closed off, streets flooded, etc.  Anyway, I happened to catch a glance at the Top Stories on the site and the first 5 were all Hurricane related.  The 6th was about Axl's appearance on Kimmel.  Not bad, a week later.  And it was positive too.

Here it is in case anyone cares.

Axl Rose makes rare TV appearance on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live'
By Meredith Blake

Sure, Jay Leno had President Obama on his show Wednesday, but for children of the '90s, it was Jimmy Kimmel who scored the night?s biggest booking: Guns N? Roses star Axl Rose.

In his first live television appearance in 20 years, the famously temperamental singer was in an unusually gregarious mood.  There were no tantrums, no surly answers, and no badmouthing of former bandmates. Instead, Rose came off as a benevolent rock-n?-roll Santa Claus. He told Kimmel about charming the neighborhood kids with a Halloween tree and ended the segment by handing out Tommy?s Burger Truck gift certificates to the studio audience.

?I thought it would be something fun,? he said. ?Fun??! This from the guy who used to incite riots onstage?

It was nice, if strange, to see the once reclusive Rose cheerfully promoting his band?s upcoming residency at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. Somewhat more disappointing, at least for those of us who spent untold hours of our adolescence watching and rewatching homemade VHS recordings of the ?November Rain? video (ahem), was Rose?s get-up.

Gone was the long, strawberry blond hair, the Sgt. Pepper jacket and the red kilt, replaced by a chin-length bob, jeans and ? eek! ? a white button-down.  It wasn?t all bad, though: There was a blue bandanna peeking out from underneath his wide-brimmed black hat, just enough to remind us of the glory days.

Kimmel, who?s not exactly known as a tough interrogator, stuck to soft questions: He didn?t ask Rose about his refusal to attend the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony this spring, where Guns N? Roses was being honored, and he made only glancing references to Rose?s contentious relationship with nearly all his former bandmates. Anyone hoping for a Barbara Walters-style teary confessional will be disappointed.

Kimmel did, however, ask Rose to weigh in on the presidential election. Rose admitted he?s not much of a voter because ?I'm in California, and it usually leans Democratic, and that's usually where I'm leaning anyway," he explained.  Pressed a little harder by Kimmel, Rose said, "I would lean Obama."

Axl, we?ll forgive you for not voting if you promise to come back to TV again soon ? and maybe perform a song next time.

Catching up on The Howard Stern Show from this week and Howard talked to Jimmy Kimmel about going on his show (Tuesday night). Shuli was sitting in and mentioned the Axl interview from last week. Said it was great. Howard said Axl was supposed to call into the show but didn't. Jimmy then said that he talked to Axl about the Stern Show and he said he enjoyed calling in back in the day. He also said that Axl wasn't fond of Slash. Sounded like he asked him some questions off camera.

I have it taped, its only 40 seconds. If I can figure out how to share it I will. Having trouble uploading it to youtube at the moment. But that's basically all that was said.

Edit

Here it is, in case anyone cares.  I explained it pretty well, but in case you want to hear it for yourself.

*sigh* handsome...even more so now. Axl cleans up real nice.<3

Perfect... everything about this interview was spot on, can't stop watching it. Also loved how Ron used his doubleneck on the show, instead of a random guitar that was just handed to him... think about it, that guitar has been all over the world with GN'R this last 2 years.  Cool Cool Cool

Ana Gasteyer is a customer of mine at the video store I have managed for 20 years in Brooklyn. When I heard she would be on Kimmel the same day as Axl she happened to come in the store right before she left for L.A. She knows about my love for G N' R and Axl over the years and when she came in the store she spoke to my mom who also works at the video store and my mom half jokingly told her to tell Axl I, "the guy with the Use Your Illusion tattoo" said hi. I officially met Axl briefly in 2006 - and have been to 19 G N' R shows since 2001, and at the first ever Vegas show I showed him my tattoo during Rocket Queen where he brought Tommy to the front of the stage to take a look at it. I've had many many cool moments at shows with Axl since over the years; peacing back to me in Albany during Paradise City, playing the Asshole Song after I requested it in London, On in 2010...and many others. Ha. Anyway when I met him in 2006 I showed him my tatt again and said he might have remembered me from the first show in Vegas - his face immediately lit up and he said excitedly "oh yeaaaaah!!!!" Very cool moment.
Anyway Ana wound up giving me a shout out on Kimmel and today was the first time I had seen her since her appearance. She brought me a copy of the Kimmel itinerary and on the back was Axl's autograph to the video store! So cool! She told me she spoke to him after her segment and apparently he got a real kick out of her shout out to me and remembers me. Ha. Anyway, thank you Ana and thank you Axl! Really made my night at work!
