Waiting

« on: January 20, 2007, 01:17:11 PM »

I didn't see this posted on here yet.

Anyone who has been a fan of Nine Inch Nails since at least the Broken/Fixed era is likley to know of a certain little 20 minute movie created as a marketing vehicle for the Broken EP. This movie was never actually released however, due to the graphic and realistic looking nature of the footage shot. Trent once said it was never released due to the contoversy it would create that would overshadow the music he was trying to push forward. The movie, in parts, do look realistic to some degree. The premise is simply a young man is kidnapped by a maniac who tortures him and forces him to watch videos from the Broken EP. The final song itself dedicates it's video to the main kidnap/torture story and gives it an extremely violent end.

Now, the reason for this post.

For years the only versions of this promo available to the general public have been shitty 10th generation copies that have had to do and on December 20th 2006 a version of a bit better quality on DVD.. until now. On December 30th someone released a version of this on DVD through a Bittorrent site. The video quality is now crystal clear and the audio is better than ever. It has been said the reason for this is that it came directly from the master tapes. As far as anyone knows, only one person holds the masters to this and if thats true then the implications involved are of an awesome magnitude (this same person is also said to have released the Closure DVD prototype, so if it's true this is about as official as it gets.)

It's easy enough to find too (it's on newsgroups atm.) On a side note, for years people have said that Robert Patrick (brother of Richard Patrick) acted in this as a cop for a few seconds.. I now belive this as false, because now the clarity of the visuals make it obvious that it wasn't him. Check it out and tell me what you think.

Cheers

Now doesn't that make you feel better?
The pigs have won tonight
Now they can all sleep soundly
And everything is all right
