Arranged marriages between royal houses were specifically designed to empower both 'houses'. 

Well, my french grandparents had an arranged marriage it was the 20th century as it were.

Maybe some think that love and money don't mix, people in love do foolish things.

I guess arranged marriages led to pre- nups, didn't they ?

Marriage these days is a coin flip anyway. Not too much of a practical difference.

Arrange me as long as they have money. Otherwise take a leap off the pier. My actions would probably send my arranged partner into overload thus suffering a heart attack.

My family are related to an Apostolic-Orthodox Church. Reason why it is 'mixed' is because it is a church specific to one particular heritage, which in my case is Armenian, from which the majority of attendees are either Apostolic or Orthodox. There aren't arranged marriages which are "forced", but as I said before, there are families who would arrange a meeting, particularly for the first time, between two, with all family members present. Otherwise if it isn't "arranged" in the latter sense, there is usually a very strong emphasis on family members meeting the 'partner' and their approval is very important, otherwise it is seen as an insult and may bring a rift between some members of the family.
It is not uncommon in some middle eastern/Eurasian orientated families for blood relatives to hold serious grudges based on "insults" such as this that can last years, or sometimes not even repaired in that person's lifetime.

Personally I disagree with the tradition though. People should be free to live their own life and be happy, and that should be what matters the most irrespective of "ancient" traditions passed down.

Obviously one may have a preference to it if there is a strong motive like money.

But how many marriages really work out these days anyway.. Would just cause more problems than benefits.

Isn't  marriage an institution created by men, just so they could "officially" sleep with a woman?

No matter how kinky.......it makes it all ok in a God's eye.

On the other hand, some men do realize the importance/blessing of the sacrament.
