The sad thing is that it looks way better than gnronline.com (which I know was created for promotional purposes only. Still.)

Isn't this site meant for promotional purposes too ?

Anyway, have you checked the credit ?
Axl is still W. Axl Rose, but Slash is Saul Hudson and Izzy is Jeffrey Isobel, and Duff is Michael McKagan. And November Rain and Don't Cry are credited to all of them...
So on one hand it's like they're denying the old members, but on the other hand, they're giving more credit than is due. Oh well, it's probably just carelessness...

I know this might now be the right section to ask this but since we are talking about the GH I'm going to ask anyways. There was romurs going around that the tracks are Remastred. What difference does it make? I mean whats the difference when the sound Remastered oppose to them not being remastered..??

Usually none whatsoever

The Appetite Gold CD did however seem to have a slightly different mix to me

Mastering has nothing to do with mixing, though ; it's the step after mixing, and usually the final one. You work on the finished mix, on the global sound, to give it some crispness, or loudness, and to polish it off, basically.

For CD's of that "era" (the late 80's), Remastering makes a HUGE difference in sound quality.  During that time frame, the masters (which were digital recordings) were converted into analog (since the vast majority of people were buying cassettes) and then BACK to digital format for encoding on the CD.  Remastering means that we would, most likely, get a direct copy of the original digital masters, and the resulting increase in quality would be pretty noticeable.

yeah.. what he said.... and if it is remastered, we would get real bass like the new albums have.... you can hardly feel the bass in AFD :p

I have a release from some radio promo disc done in '99 that apparently includes some remastered AFD & UYI tracks.  they're 192kbps MP3s so I'm sure I'm still losing something in the translation - BUT the AFD tracks do seem to feature more bass & treble than the original recordings.  Could be my mind playing tricks on me, though.

Here's the description from the set:

Guns N' Roses - Remasters Vol. I (1999)

As much as I'm against the release of this cd, in that I'd rather be getting new GN'R music, you can't deny that this compilation is pretty good (although they left off It's So Easy & Estranged!) and a reminder of the great band that once was.
Even seeing those black & white pics of the old band are a reminder of how great they were.

I think I'll be buying this for my collection.

I can see allot of casual GN'R fans buying this too, moreso than Live Era.

Honestly don't know.  That's how the torrent file I downloaded them from was labeled - but I dont know if that radio promo disc ever actually existed.

I liked it too.  The pics were great, and it was a thrilll for me to hear those songs (even though I've already heard them a million times!).

But I'm not planning on buying it.  I'll save my measly income for CD & Contraband.

the marketing guys work 10 times harder to release that greatest hits cd than for the 2002 Us Tour.
that's ironic.
