Title: A band with similarities to GNR
Post by: Dr H Lecter on August 02, 2004, 06:33:26 PM
One?of my all time favorite bands (a very close second to GNR) is Social Distortion. I don't know how many of you know of them but they are generally referred to as a punk band however that description is a bit limited for them. They really are an amalgam of punk, rock, melody and a million other things. What makes them great in my opinion is , as with all great bands, their lead singer Mike Ness. He is intelligent, extremely talented and prone to bouts of aggression and very passionate about music with an extremely distinctive voice. Its been 5 years since their last studio album and Ness says that before recording any material they usually audition it live first, remind you of anyone?. I have already heard some of the new stuff and can safely say I cannot wait for the album.

Thats the interview with him. I suggest checking out some of their music.

Any similarities...

I thought you meant sound and groove-wise. Prone to bouts of aggression, passionate, ok....
I have liked plenty of bands with long hair :-\

But anyways, The Four Horsemen. I've mentioned them before

Social Distortion are great and i love Mike Ness?s voice!

My fave songs are Mommy?s Little Monster and Ball And Chain, two very different songs.

Simililarities with GNR..hmm..nah!
