Title: Good Rock Songs turned into Bad Cover Songs Post by: Mr Cowbell ? on December 04, 2004, 06:23:13 AM After hearing "A perfect Circle - Imagine" and "Non-points - In the Air Tonight" I have realized how bad rock bands of today are getting and keep pushing out bad covers. If you have heard either of these songs you will agree. The whole deep bass is gone in "In the air tonight". Anyone else have any bad rock covers to share?

It's been discussed here before but Sheryl Crow butchered that song imo. I love her music but that cover was a huge letdown. Title: Re: Good Rock Songs turned into Bad Cover Songs Post by: Cornell on December 04, 2004, 10:00:40 AM Celine Dion - You Shook Me All Night Long I never heard that and I'm glad that I didn't. :P Title: Re: Good Rock Songs turned into Bad Cover Songs Post by: Eazy E on December 04, 2004, 12:13:17 PM It was on that special "Divas in Las Vegas" or something... her and Anastacia did a duet on it and Celine was even doing Angus' one-legged kick. It's actually pretty terrifying.
Title: Re: Good Rock Songs turned into Bad Cover Songs Post by: Slashly on December 04, 2004, 01:13:40 PM "We Will Rock You" by Five.I dont think WWRY it?s that awsome, but the good things it had, Five made them disapear.Bastards.And they add some raping, wit things like "Five will make you jump" and all that shiT.But the worst thing is that Brian May actually plays on that cover.Money aint all, but it does help!!

I love her music but that cover was a huge letdown. for once I respect someone's denunciation of that cover. I realize that when you cover a song, especially a standard like Sweet Child, it's supposed to appeal to a broader audience. It did that, though, I think. I think it attracted some fans of pop-rock and even pop. whether you dig those genres or not is completely subjective. I also think it blended well with the movie it was intended for. I wonder if she was asked to cover it or if she suggested it herself, because she's an actual huge fan of Gn'r. If you have heard either of these songs you will agree. ::) Arrogance. I've heard APC's cover, and I think they did it well. It hasn't entirely converted me, as I still dislike that song in general, but I think APC's cover of it is far better than the original. Title: Re: Good Rock Songs turned into Bad Cover Songs Post by: Tied-Up on December 04, 2004, 01:55:39 PM I have two to add to this: First is Kid Rock's destruction of Bad Company's Feel Like Making Love. Kid Rock should be shot for that. :'( He took a perfectly awesome classic tune and ruined it. It would be like someone using the US Constitution for a sketch pad. It just shouldn't have happened, it was so wrong.
The second is Mariah Carey's horrific cover of Def Leppard's Bringing on the Heartbreak. I'm not even a big fan of Def Leppard, and this is certainly not my favorite song from them, but Mariah Carey just destroyed it. Ewww Title: Re: Good Rock Songs turned into Bad Cover Songs Post by: Mr. Dick Purple on December 04, 2004, 03:23:14 PM I like APC's Imagine is so APC, :nervous:
Well I'm a big fan of Helloween but they did Sheer Heart Attack of queen oh my god it sucks Like Hell, I don't like it at all , could it be cause Queen is my fave group? Title: Re: Good Rock Songs turned into Bad Cover Songs Post by: Tj on December 04, 2004, 05:30:05 PM It would be like someone using the US Constitution for a sketch pad I'd do that  : ok: Title: Re: Good Rock Songs turned into Bad Cover Songs Post by: MadmanDan on December 05, 2004, 05:37:47 PM I like Metallica, but they should has stayed the fuck away from Thin Lizzy's Wisky in the jar
Title: Re: Good Rock Songs turned into Bad Cover Songs Post by: Tied-Up on December 05, 2004, 09:40:26 PM I like Metallica, but they should has stayed the fuck away from Thin Lizzy's Wisky in the jar I liked that one ok. It wasn't the best cover, but it certainly wasn't the worst I've heard. Title: Re: Good Rock Songs turned into Bad Cover Songs Post by: Hammy on December 05, 2004, 09:45:45 PM Vince Neil - I Wanna Be Sedated, it's a bonus track on Exposed, it shouldn't of even been that....plain awful!!
Title: Re: Good Rock Songs turned into Bad Cover Songs Post by: Izzy on December 06, 2004, 11:08:34 AM I like Metallica, but they should has stayed the fuck away from Thin Lizzy's Wisky in the jar Bah - its way better than the terrible original, Thin Lizzy's version was almost enough to make me hate the electric guitar, sounds like the whole things played out of tune and demonstrates what vastly superior guitaists Hetfield and Hammett are..... Title: Re: Good Rock Songs turned into Bad Cover Songs Post by: Mama Kin on December 09, 2004, 02:59:02 AM Snoop Dogg recently covered "Riders on the Storm" for the Need for Speed Underground 2 video game. Granted, I only heard one minute of it, on the Doors website, but that minute was enough.
Title: Re: Good Rock Songs turned into Bad Cover Songs Post by: MadmanDan on December 09, 2004, 03:10:34 PM Snoop Dogg recently covered "Riders on the Storm" for the Need for Speed Underground 2 video game. Granted, I only heard one minute of it, on the Doors website, but that minute was enough. It's not a cover, that really is Jim Morrison singing. Snoop didn't cover the song,he just fucked it up Title: Re: Good Rock Songs turned into Bad Cover Songs Post by: Mama Kin on December 09, 2004, 04:04:47 PM Ok, he "sampled" it, whatever. It doesn't make it right.
Title: Re: Good Rock Songs turned into Bad Cover Songs Post by: Metallifuck on December 09, 2004, 04:43:14 PM I like Metallica, but they should has stayed the fuck away from Thin Lizzy's Wisky in the jar Bah - its way better than the terrible original, Thin Lizzy's version was almost enough to make me hate the electric guitar, sounds like the whole things played out of tune and demonstrates what vastly superior guitaists Hetfield and Hammett are..... Izzy I think we finally agree on something. Whiskey In The Jar covered by Metallica is pretty good obviously due to the guitar playing but also as with most of Garage, Inc., Hetfield's vocals have a different sound from his usual on there. Title: Re: Good Rock Songs turned into Bad Cover Songs Post by: Dr. Blutarsky on December 10, 2004, 04:35:02 PM The cover of Simple Man. I think its Nickelback, or another band that sounds similar. Its awful. Then again, everything nickelback has done is awful.
