Vedder is so freaking overrated. Mind you, there is still that squeeling chipmunk from RATM left but his time will come. I agree that Cobain shouldn't have been voted off before some of these guys but I doubt Cobain would make it past the 5th/6th round anyway. Title: Re: ROUND 3: Best 90's Frontman Survivor! come on, look at the shit on the list, u mean to tell me some of these are better than cobain? i love these games so i will continue playin sebastian bach he can sing but he cant write to be a frontman u have to do it all. Which is why Cobain should not win this. Sebastian may not be a lyrical genius but neither was Cobain...and in terms of vocal ability, those two aren't even in the same league. Title: Re: ROUND 3: Best 90's Frontman Survivor! Post by: D on December 13, 2004, 08:18:09 PM Kurt Cobain vs Sebastian Bach is the ultimate Slash vs Bucket head argument
Buckethead is faster more technical, could blow slash out of a room if they were having a guitar duel but slash is better same with cobain, bach is the better vocalist technically, can sing more octaves but cobain is the emotion dude, pure, real, simple but so fuckin delicate and real i never got into bach too much,he can scream and sing but unlike axl i just never really felt anything when bach sang just like aguitarist playing a thousand notes a second up the fretboard, it just doesnt appeal to me ill take the simplistic SCOM 1st solo over any million lightning fast run up the neck that sounds like abunch of angry bees any day same with cobain, u could feel the hurt, pain and depression when hesang, he wasnt the best singer technically but the way he wrote and conveyed emotion was out of this world. I mean to stick up for cobain......... ever read that journal book that was released? Kurts ;) thought process was wicked & reading his journals has opened my eyes much on him. bach, well i liked him a long long time ago...... but now he's gone. was more of a 'fun' band within the hardrock market heyday = nothing original really. but yes, he could sing, but just a loud mouth -BP Title: Re: ROUND 3: Best 90's Frontman Survivor! Post by: D on December 13, 2004, 08:59:17 PM i have browsed through it at a book store but i dont own it but i really really really would love to have it.
i love kurt cobain, i dont like his spout with axl and of course id take axl over him but i think he is a misunderstood genius and proof that u dont have to be the most technical most talented to make an impact. i relate to cobain cause i am a musician and im not the most talented or technical cant sing all that great but kurt made me feel that it was possible to make it on songwriting ability and just the ability to connect with people on personal levels. Cobain's songs may be gibberish to some but very meaningful to others the song "Dumb" chokes me up everytime i hear it. Title: Re: ROUND 3: Best 90's Frontman Survivor! Post by: BP on December 13, 2004, 10:14:35 PM I hear ya... I'm like that with Jerry Garcia. I have seen Jerry Garcia 17 times before he died. now how many gnr fans are big Dead fans? i've only seen a few. Garcia a guitar genius but not the best singer ...... but has made me cry for how he sang with emotion.
o... & when I say that I hate to stick up for Kurt, I don't mean because of any Axl thing... I can care less. its more that my drummer whorshiped him ;D. I wanted to put Garcia for best 90's frontman for the hell of it, but i'd loose for he was very underground (but go figure he had the most ticket sales $$$ in the 90's per year - more than these other bands combined). -BP Title: Re: ROUND 3: Best 90's Frontman Survivor! Post by: D on December 13, 2004, 10:25:05 PM i discovered Nirvana before they were huge
i was listening to them when the preps and bandwagon people were still worshipping whatever else was big before that so it pissed me off what happened and i like Kurt cause it pissed him off also the people who always bullied him and dissed him and treated him less than human were now his fans and he didnt like that which is cool as fuck in my opinion he is the outcast's hero, the kid who was disenfranchised and ignored same with VR and GNR i can appreciate more than one thing I dont approve of Kurt's statements about Axl but that doesnt mean i cant still like them both u know? Kurt was very human i guess is the word for it. he made dreaming and succeeding seem possible. He was definitely the real thing. Title: Re: ROUND 3: Best 90's Frontman Survivor! Post by: Captain Obvious on December 13, 2004, 11:52:43 PM D, you know people say Bon Jovi isn't given enough credit for their music because of Jon's looks? This is exactly what Bach has. Because he was a stud, a cocky bastard and a rebellous prick, people never take him seriously.
