Here Today... Gone To Hell!

This board is becoming slower and slower, and the amount of times it locks up and displays the have patience message is all too often.

What's up with it?

Too many people on the board.. I dont know...

But I guess this thread belongs in the Administrative, Feedback & Help

The server never was optimized in the first place and recently it's been busier than ever before.

Combine those two and you have the answer.

maybe it's time to start  all  contributing to the site ?

I don't wanna be the suckass but if you can give me an adres or a bank account, i wouldn't mind contributing to my favorite board :)

Thanks, but at the moment it's an issue of figuring out what exactly is wrong and fixing that.

tonight is the fastest the board has been in a long time though, i havent had any problems at all, its 1:04 am eastern time and its running bout like it use to a year ago or so.

so i got my fingers crossed! : ok:

Jarmo, is there substantial improvement in the board's speed when you dont allow people to lurk?

In a way it's better because I'm forced to do my work instead of reading threads  :hihi:

Seems like it runs faster when we have maybe 50 users logged in instead of 50 users logged in and 150 guests...

That would be the logical assumption, I agree.

But right now (10PM Pacific time), there are 9 guests and 21 users.  The board locked up for me, for several minutes, and then magically became fast again.

I was thinking maybe it's when a user tries to access a really old thread that the board has to do more work, and it hangs on this request?

Are you implying that God doesn't know how to run a webserver? Cause He will get mad on your ass...  ;D

which means 200 users querying the database 18 times a page, not 50 :P
