I though it was the whammy cause in the riff you hear a kid of vibrato efect (not finger vibrato, more like a whammy bar vibrato) and also it goes really loud and high pitched, something you can do with the Whammy pedal. Yeah, but you can have this feedback sound easier with some compressor or delay. Or if you put the guitar really close to the amp (wich is not the case)...
