Title: Guilty Pleasures
Post by: Mattman on March 01, 2005, 02:16:18 AM
We've all got a few.? This is a thread where you can come clean with any songs that you like and are slightly (or very) embarassed to let people know that you like it.? You can't pussy out any longer, friend.

Mine are:

Vanilla Ice, "Ice Ice Baby"
MC Hammer, "U Can't Touch This"
Air Supply, "All Out Of Love"
Nelly, "#1"
Anything by ABBA
Good Charlotte, "Boys and Girls"
Cyndi Lauper, "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun"
Village People, "YMCA"

Oh, God...I don't think I can say it...but then that's the whole point of this thread....

...AAAARRRGGGHHHHH!!!

Backstreet Boys, "I Want It That Way"

(sob)

Bizarre - 'guilty' pleasure implies u accept there is something wrong with that song or artist - and yet listen to them anyway......how very queer.

Either u like it or u don't - u listen to stuff pending the approval of others?

FFS!

What they gonna do? Beat u up over an Nysnc album - though i might get ya ;)

Well, sometimes you're aware of the shitty aspects of a song/performer, but still somehow manage to like it.

Here's a few of mine: ;D

Shaggy - It Wasn't Me
Len - Steal My Sunshine
Whale - Hobo Humpin' Slobo Babe

I don't really get the concept of guilty pleasures either. But I will say that "What You Waiting For?" by Gwen Stefani may be the catchiest song ever.

She ripped off Weezer! The verse is straight out of the song Hashpipe.

I love Judas Priest's Turbo album. I don't care that it was their attempt at being glam, it's fun stuff!

I also like Cock and Ball Torture's Sadochismo, which is almost a parody of death metal. It's hilariously bad and catchy. And the vocals are done by machine, of course!  :hihi:

Ha. Wow. I hadn't noticed that before. But all the same, the Stefani song's much catchier. It's basically "hook" followed by "hook" followed by "hook". It's impossible to lose throughout the day. And it allows me to sing lines like "You're still a super hot female".? :-[

Edit: It's back in my head! Ahhh!

Well, don't forget, music is wholly subjective.  So if you usually listen to stuff like Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, you might be a little shy about disclosing that you enjoy listening to the odd Michael Jackson album.

Now you're mixing up things, the whole thing about feeling guilty is related to how others perceive the music. So it's really an objective matter. Thriller is widely regarded as a classic, which is why there should be no shame involved - even if you mostly listen to metal :)

Not necessarily.  I could hate almost every song by a certain artist, but there's one song by them that I like.  In that case, it would qualify as a guilty pleasure in the truest sense of the term.

Well, sometimes I?d rather not call them guilty pleasures...great melodies can also be found in other genres, I guess that?s why sometimes you see and hear rock bands covering Pop songs. I like Wham?s Careless Whisper, When in Rome?s The Promise and George Michael?s Jesus to a Child. i know there?s a lot more that I don?t remember right now.
