Title: Disturbed Thread
Post by: Malcolm on June 16, 2005, 03:49:50 PM
Launch Radio Networks reports: DISTURBED has set "Ten Thousand Fists" as the title of its third album, according to a posting at the band's official website. The album is also tentatively slated for release on September 20, although that date has not been officially confirmed. It's been three years since the group released 2002's "Believe", and frontman David Draiman told Launch the new album is worth the wait. "I personally feel, and I think the rest of the band shares that opinion, that this is the best material we've ever written, and we're ready to do what needs to be done, at a time when it needs to be done," he said.

The title track has been tapped to appear in the next NFL Madden video game.

The Chicago-based quartet recorded 20 songs, from which 13 will be chosen to appear on the new record. A single, possibly a song called "Stricken", should arrive at radio stations sometime this summer.

DISTURBED will begin a four-to-six-week North American tour on August 6 in San Diego, California. The only other two confirmed dates so far are Portland, Oregon on August 10 and the Black Hills Motorcycle Rally in Sturgis, South Dakota on August 12.

DISTURBED will also headline the Jagermeister Music Tour in November, followed by the Music As A Weapon III trek in 2006.

Launch Radio Networks reports: DISTURBED recently made a song from its upcoming third album available online at both the iTunes store and myspace.com/disturbedofficial. Called "Guarded", the track is not the first official single from the band's new disc, called "Ten Thousand Fists". That is likely to be a tune called "Stricken", which is expected to arrive at rock radio around July 19.

DISTURBED frontman David Draiman told Launch that "Guarded" was released to give fans a taste of the band's new effort. "'Guarded' was put out there to just whet everybody's appetite. It's one of the more aggressive tracks on the record, just to remind everybody where we came from and who we are. Kind of give back to the core a little bit. It's a song that reflects what choosing this life forces certain people to do in a certain way ? you have to remain guarded on a certain level."

"Ten Thousand Fists" is set for release on September 20. The album features the debut of new bassist John Moyer.

The title track has been tapped to appear in the next NFL Madden video game.

Liisa Ladouceur of ChartAttack.com is reporting that DISTURBED shot the first video for their new album in a hospital once used for "A Nightmare On Elm Street".

The video for "Stricken", from the band's upcoming third album, "Ten Thousand Fists", was directed by Nathan Cox (LINKIN PARK, QUEEN OF THE STONE AGE) in Los Angeles last month, just before rehearsals for the band's first tour in two years.

"For an old abandoned hospital it was actually the furthest thing from creepy," DISTURBED singer David Draiman told ChartAttack.com. "We shot the main performance parts in a neutral, brightly lit room that looks like a loft. Then again, Mike [Wengren, drums] did a solo sequence in the boiler room, where they did the Freddy Krueger sequences, which was a bit creepier."

"I was expecting to see some Freddy, for him to come out and kick my ass," Wengren laughed. "He didn't want to come out though. He's too scared. He's got the claws, but I've got drum sticks."

Although "Ten Thousand Fists" is pretty heavy on the old-school metal stylings, with some of the lyrics about soldiers going to hell, the band don't call it protest music: they insist they are "staunchly pro military."

"We have the utmost love and respect for the soldiers," Draiman told ChartAttack.com. "We have friends who are soldiers, some of whom have died in the process of this conflict and many of them will play our music going into battle as a means of empowerment, or stripping of their fear. We couldn't be more proud. Never let it be misunderstood that because we are against war ? which I will always be ? that we are against those who fight. We've been looking into doing USO-type of shows along the leg of this record cycle because we'd like to really show our support."

NME.com is reporting that DISTURBED have been forced to cancel the rest of their European tour after singer David Draiman was diagnosed with a severe inflammation of the vocal chords.

Draiman has been advised by a throat specialist in London to completely rest his voice until he receives a clean bill of health.

He has now travelled back to Los Angeles to receive further specialist treatment.

A statement from the band said: "Please note that all cancelled shows will be rescheduled and the new dates will be announced as soon as they're confirmed. Fans are asked to keep hold of their tickets as the dates are likely to be set for next March."

DISTURBED were in London for a sold-out show at the Astoria last Thursday (October 13).

DISTURBED frontman David Draiman recently spoke to MTV.com about the severe acid reflux that contributed to the band's decision to cancel the last seven shows of their European tour last month and fly home.

"I had been taking Prevacid for about four years and my body built up a resistance to it, to the point where it wasn't doing anything anymore," the singer said. "I had a night of drinking in London followed by a full day and night of drinking on a day off in Dublin, because what else is there to do in Ireland but drink? That, coupled with a show where I had monitor problems, and I pretty much trashed my voice."

A visit to a doctor in Dublin confirmed his fears and Draiman was ordered to rest his voice. When he got back to Los Angeles, he immediately underwent an endoscopy to make sure the surgical work that had been done in the past hadn't come undone.

"Thankfully it was still intact, so I just switched to this drug called Protonix and that got me on the right track," Draiman said. "But I gotta watch what I eat a little bit, and I can't drink anymore. How ironic ? we start the J?ger tour and I can no longer drink!"

DISTURBED's "Ten Thousand Fists" debuted at #1 on the Billboard albums chart in late September, and has sold 581,000 copies in the United States so far, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

"People continue to proclaim the death of rock and try to figure out where DISTURBED fit in the scheme of things, and the truth is, we really don't fit in," Draiman said. "You look at the majority of radio programming and it's about 20 bands that all sound pretty much the same. They're either pop-rock punk bands or a pop-rock emo bands, and I can't tell the difference. But obviously there's still a pretty strong place for us. We're in it for the long haul and we're going to take much delight in proving to everyone that we're still viable and we're still here."

DISTURBED will jump-start 2006 with the newly announced second leg of their headlining J?germeister Music Tour. Launching January 6 in Spokane, WA, the trek will follow their in-progress dates, which run through December 22 in Baltimore, MD. Led by David Draiman (vocals), Dan Donegan (guitar) and Mike Wengren (drums), DISTURBED will be joined on the second leg by BLOODSIMPLE.

The J?germeister Music Tour caps off a year that solidified DISTURBED's standing as one of heavy rock's most commanding and relevant bands. Highlighting 2005 was the release of "Ten Thousand Fists" (Reprise), which became the band's second album to debut at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 chart, after 2002's "Believe" reached the top of the chart, building on the momentum of their triple-platinum debut "The Sickness". "Ten Thousand Fists" has sold 581,000 copies in the United Sates so far, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Looking ahead, "Just Stop" has been selected as the next single from "Ten Thousand Fists", which charged out of the gates with the #1 Active Rock smash "Stricken" and the Top Ten Mainstream Rock track "Guarded". Driven by compelling guitar leads and jackhammer drumbeats, "Just Stop" is a defiant hard rock anthem that glorifies the power of conviction. The song's chorus features Draiman fighting back at cynics, singing "All that you want is to criticize / Something for nothing / And all that I want, is forgiveness one more time / To be the best in the world."

DISTURBED have postponed their previously announced spring 2006 European headlining tour, according to various online ticketing agencies and press reports. The trek, which was scheduled to kick off in early March (with NEVERMORE in the support slot), was reportedly called off in order to allow singer David Draiman to rest his voice after several months of intensive touring in the U.S. in support of the band's platinum-selling new CD, "Ten Thousand Fists".

Back in October 2005, DISTURBED cancelled the last seven shows of their European tour because Draiman was suffering from severe acid reflux. When he got back to Los Angeles, Draiman immediately underwent an endoscopy to make sure the surgical work that had been done in the past for his uncooperative stomach hadn't come undone, MTV.com reported last November.

DISTURBED, who are slated to stay on the road in the U.S. through February 24 in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, have rescheduled their European tour for September. It is not presently clear if NEVERMORE will still occupy the opening slot on the new dates.

DISTURBED's newly rescheduled German shows (more dates to be announced):

Sep. 14 ? M?nchen, GER @ Tonhalle
Sep. 17 - Berlin, GER @ Huxleys Neue Welt
Sep. 20 - Hamburg, GER @ Gro?e Freiheit 36
Sep. 21 - Bremen, GER @ Aladin Music Hall
Sep. 24 - Dortmund, GER @ Westfalenhalle 3A

Sep. 15 - F?rth, GER @ Stadthalle
Sep. 17 - Berlin, GER @ Huxleys
Sep. 20 - Hamburg, GER @ Grosse Freiheit
Sep. 21 - Bremen, GER @ Aladin

Sep. 24 - Dortmund, GER @ Westfallenhalle 2
Sep. 26 - Amsterdam, NETH @ Paradiso
Sep. 27 - K?ln, GER @ Palladium
Sep. 29 - Newcastle, UK @ Academy
Sep. 30 - Glasgow, UK @ Barrowland

Oct. 04 - Nottingham, UK @ Rock City
Oct. 06 - Birmingham, UK @ Academy
Oct. 07 - Liverpool, UK @ Academy
Oct. 09 - London, UK @ Astoria

DISTURBED were forced to postpone their international tour dates last month after vocalist David Draiman suffered a recurrence of the severe inflammation of the vocal chords that he originally suffered last year.

"Having returned to the live arena too soon after his last vocal problems, recent dates of DISTURBED's North American tour have taken their toll on Draiman's voice and he has been advised by his doctor to take an extended break to ensure a complete recovery," the band's management wrote in a statement.

Launch Radio Networks reports: DISTURBED has announced the cities and dates for the first leg of this year's Music As A Weapon tour, which will begin on November 15 in Providence, Rhode Island and conclude on December 22 in Madison, Wisconsin. The Chicago hard rockers will be joined by STONE SOUR, FLYLEAF and NONPOINT on the road trip, which will also extend into January and February. As for DISTURBED's show, singer David Draiman told Launch to expect a blockbuster. "We're looking at potentially playing for anywhere from an hour and a half to two hours, probably closer to the two hour end of things," he said. "There's going to be more crowd participation moments within the songs, there'll be different versions of the songs, there will be a lot more production, even more than we brought out for OzzFest this time, there'll be pyro, explosions, fire...we're bringing out all the guns this tour, so we're really looking forward to it."

DISTURBED is still touring in support of its third album, 2005's "Ten Thousand Fists", which includes the single "Land of Confusion".

Draiman underwent successful surgery on August 15 to repair a deviated septum. The damage, caused by three broken noses over the last few years, made breathing difficult for the singer and affected his singing onstage.

DISTURBED frontman David Draiman recently spoke to MTV.com about the band's upcoming Music as a Weapon Tour, also featuring STONE SOUR, FLYLEAF and NONPOINT.

"It's our major headlining run," Draiman told MTV News. "We bring out all the bells and whistles ? it's our stadium run. The bill is really strong, and we're looking into pyrotechnics this time around, as well as different stage setups, different versions of songs, solos, extended sets. It's going to be the big rock show that people expect from us. You have to keep raising the bar each respective year. It gets more and more difficult to do that, but it's definitely going to be one big, crazy rock show this year."

Draiman said the band will encourage more crowd interaction on this fall's Music as a Weapon, and plan to stage even more dramatic moments during the trek.

"We've become the type of band you can count on to pull off live versions of the songs that sound close enough to what you hear on the record," he explained. "But after awhile, it kind of gets monotonous, playing the same versions over and over again ? especially the hits you have to play every show. So, making it a little bit different, giving people a little something they didn't expect and keeping the show fresh is very important."

DISTURBED's Music as a Weapon Tour dates:

Nov. 15 - Providence, RI @ Dunkin Donuts Civic Center
Nov. 17 - Portland, ME @ Cumberland County Civic Center

DISTURBED has entered a Chicago studio to begin recording its fourth album, the follow-up to 2005's platinum-certified "Ten Thousand Fists". The band, which features vocalist David Draiman, guitarist Dan Donegan, drummer Mike Wengren, and bassist John Moyer, has chosen to produce the album itself. The as-yet-untitled CD will be released by Reprise Records in the spring of 2008.

According to Draiman, the forthcoming album "seems to have taken on a darker character than the previous albums. It's more furiously paced and complex." He continues, "producing the record ourselves has been a learning experience that will serve the record well."

Disturbed Digs Deep On 'Brutal' New Album

Heavy, dark and "pissed-off" are the operative terms for Disturbed's new album, according to frontman David Draiman. Draiman tells Billboard.com that the quartet is about 12 songs into the set, which Disturbed is producing itself in Chicago.

Tentatively titled "Indestructible," it's due out in the spring of 2008 via Warner Bros. "We're probably going to track 15 (songs), and we'll put 12 on the record," Draiman says.

The album's tone, he adds, is directly inspired by "a f*cked-up couple of years" in his personal life -- including a motorcycle accident, a garage fire that destroyed his truck and motorcycle, and "a number of bad relationships."

"When we first discussed what we were going to be shooting for, vibe-wise, on the record," Draiman recalls, "I said, 'Guys, listen, my head is in a really in a f*cked-up place. Give me the nastiest, darkest, most brutal sh*t you can throw at me, and I'll write to it.'"

His bandmates delivered. "Mikey (Wengren, Disturbed's drummer) is playing faster and more furiously than ever, with more polysyncopation. Danny (Donegan) is soloing even more frequently, and the riffs are just brutal and honest and dark.

"It still has those big, melodic elements that were brought out" on Disturbed's last two albums, "but it seems to hearken more to the extra syncopation and added rhythms and the dark, primal nature" of 2000's "The Sickness," he observes.

Some of the songs Draiman expects to be on "Indestructible" include "The Night," "Inside the Fire," "Deceiver," "Run," "Enough" and "Tom." The group has also recorded a version of Faith No More's "Midlife Crisis" but isn't sure if it will make the final cut or not.

"This Moment," Disturbed's contribution to the "Transformers" soundtrack, will definitely not appear on the new album, according to Draiman.

Touring will follow the new album's release, with Draiman predicting a run of European festivals first -- although it might be preceded by a short promotional trip through North America. There will also be a Music As a Weapon IV tour during the cycle, though the timing for that has not yet been determined.

Slipknot, Disturbed Set For Rockstar Tour

Slipknot and Disturbed will hit the road this summer on the first ever Rockstar Mayhem tour, Billboard.com has learned. The outing, sponsored by Rockstar Energy drink, will run in July and August, with additional artists and dates to be announced.

Rockstar Mayhem is being assembled by Vans Warped Tour founder Kevin Lyman and John Reese, Lyman's partner on the Taste of Chaos tour.

Slipknot will be out in support of its new Roadunner album, expected in August. Disturbed's new album, "Indestructible," is due in May.

The Pulse of Radio reports that DISTURBED has set June 3 as the release date for its fourth studio album, "Indestructible", and has also revealed the dates and venues for a short U.S. tour that will offer fans a preview of the upcoming disc. The first single from the record, called "Inside The Fire", will be sent to radio stations across the country on March 24. The band has been hinting in interviews that this is its heaviest CD yet, and singer David Draiman told The Pulse of Radio that he hasn't changed his opinion. "This record is definitely a very ferocious record," he said. "It has a lot of textures to it. It is certainly the darkest one that we've seen in quite some time. It's the darkest and heaviest since (debut album) 'The Sickness', there's no question about it. And it takes it past 'The Sickness' on a number of different levels."

Confirmed DISTURBED tour dates:

April 27 - Wichita, KS - The Cotillion
April 29 - Amarillo, TX - Aztec Music Hall
April 30 - Tulsa, OK - Cain's
May 02 - Springfield, MO - Shrine Mosque
May 05 - Myrtle Beach, SC - House of Blues
May 06 - Charlotte, NC - Amos'Southend
May 08 - Orlando, FL - House of Blues
May 09 - Birmingham, AL - Sloss Furnace
May 11 - Richmond, VA - The National
May 12 - Louisville, KY - Coyote's
May 17 - Columbus, OH - Columbus Crew Stadium (Rock on the Range)

so far the new albums kicking my ass.

the single is the weakest track off the album so far, bad choice for a single. The other songs are much harder.

Its got that typical disturbed sound because of his vocals, but the riffs are better, n the guitar solos are better.

I picked it up yesterday and thought the last couple tracks were the strongest.  Although maybe I was just in a more rocking mood at that time.  First listens are always tough to judge.

down with the sickness is one of the best songs when you're reaally really really angry, frustrated and all kinds of those feelings :headbanger:

First song I ever heard of theirs. I was instantly impressed. I must admit, I haven't been able to catch much other stuff yet.

Love that song  : ok:

Any other songs I should listen out for?

Stupify was the song that got me into Disturbed.  The Sickness was a great album.  They haven't been able to match that effort since in my opinion.  But they still put out quality music.  Stupify though is one of my favorite songs of the last decade.

Actually, I think we saw you when we got in. Or someone wearing your hat  :hihi:

Did you talk to then about the gig? What did they think of the reaction they got? Cos, well, they are not really metal, are they? It wasn't their crowd. In fact they got a bit booed when the Urungus guy mentioned them right at the beginning. But then I think it went down quite well

I won tickets to see Disturbed with Korn last week. Well on Friday the radio station called me and said to show up at the Hard Rock early so i could play poker with the band. Haha, so it was me, my guest, another winner and his guest and the band playing. We played for 20-30 minutes and whoever had the most chips at the end got to keep the custom Disturbed poker set. Well I won that too :) . I got delt a off suit jack and queen. Then the flop was two queens and a jack. I went all in, everyone else folded except for David Drainman, so we went head to head and he only had two pair. Haha. Here's a link to the video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HT3fzYh3_V8

Disturbed To Split
By Paul Cashmere
Yesterday at 10:03am (Sat, 23 Jul 2011 10:03:54 +1000)

Disturbed frontman David Draiman has been quoted as suggesting the band has come to the end of the road.

Talking to The Reverend Ian on Boise, Idaho radio KQXR Draiman said, "There won't be a 'Music For A Weapon' tour next year. We don't know what we're doing . . . We're not gonna do our own thing either. This is gonna be the last tour that the American people get to see us in for awhile, if not indefinitely. We have some things going on internally, we have some personal things going on. So I don't know. It's hard to tell. But I can definitely tell you there won't be a 'Weapon' around next year with us on it. If we end up keeping that brand [and possibly 'leasing' it out to other bands to use]? it has kind of become its own entity, it's something we have talked about in the past, and that's possible. But you're not gonna see a DISTURBED tour for awhile."

If this really does mean the end of Disturbed it brings to a close the most successful metal band to come out of the USA in the 21st Century.

All except one Disturbed album has reached number one in the USA. That?s 4 number one albums in a row.

Their most recent album was ?Asylum? in 2010.

DISTURBED frontman David Draiman, who last year announced the formation of his new project DEVICE, also featuring former FILTER guitarist Geno Lenardo, has posted the following message online:

"My brothers and sisters, my blood, I just wanted to take a moment to thank all of you for coming with me on this new journey that is DEVICE.

"I am eternally grateful for the love that you all have for DISTURBED, and I also understand the defensiveness that can come with any thing that could potentially be perceived as a catalyst to some sort of 'breakup theory' that, I assure you, has no base in the first place.

"If you read the DEVICE bio that was posted on the DEVICE Facebook page, you will learn that the whole project came together quite accidentally, and I'm very glad it did. I think you will be too.

"DISTURBED is still on hiatus. A hiatus is an extended break, not 'breakup.' We have fought long and hard together, all of us, to make DISTURBED what it has become, and are not just walking away from it. We all needed to just give ourselves some time away from it. The existence of DEVICE does not in any way shape or form mean the end of DISTURBED. They are two completely separate entities, and I hold them both in the highest regard. You are about to get your first taste this coming week.

"You have all of my love and respect."
