Title: the male simple plan fan club
Post by: psycotron on July 31, 2005, 10:41:55 PM
i think simple plan are awesome and im not afraid to admit i like bands like GnR, megadeth, tallica and the crue so u cant exactly say im a complete softly. i went to a greenday concert last year and simple plan opened for them. other guys were calling simple plan gay but i was singing along to their songs lol. they sound more like the 80s hair metal bands then most of the other crap around today. theyre way better than bands like the killers and radiohead. songs like shutup and god must hate me just have energy and they make good ballads to like welcome my life and perfect. i dont care if theyre pop. i enjoy theyre guitar riffs. their lyrics may be cheesy but so is motley crue's lyrics. my girl freind really likes them to and i enjoy making out with her while listening to simple plan lol. so do any other guys like em?

i guess the popularity of the hair bands in the 80s is sort of like the popularity of the pop/punk bands today.

theres not much music around that i dislike.

but simple plan.........they really push my limits.

they in no way sound like 80's hair metal. don't ever say that. 80's hair metal was fucking great.

the thing i find the worst is the vocals.......they are sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo bad.

guitar riffs are awful. how many times are punk bands gonna use that same punk triangle for there songs. you guitarists know what im talking about.

atleast 80's hair metal had good riffs.......and like it or not the vocalists could actually sing.

don't bring them down to simple plan level.

The thing I dislike most about Simple Plan is how obvious and patronizing it all is; "You don't know what it's like..." ...oh gimme a break, while you're at it why don't you just make every 14-year-old with teenage angst queue up and kiss their asses.

I think Simple Plan are okay.  Them and Good Charlotte are a mixed bag for me.  Neither of them is anywhere near as good as the punk-pop gods Green Day or Blink-182.  But they both have a knack for creating some pretty great songs, even if some of their songs aren't as memorable.  Good Charlotte puts out both great songs like "We Believe", "Girls and Boys", and "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous", but also crap songs like "Predictable".  Similarly, Simple Plan has put out some killer tunes like "Addicted" and "Untitled", but a lot of their songs are kinda weak.  Nevertheless, I admire them for crafting catchy pop melodies, even if some of the lyrics are way too juvenile for me.  It's kiddie punk, but catchy.

Bingo!  I was actually thinking the same thing today.  Simple Plan and Good Charlotte are to "punk" as Warrant and Poison are to "metal".  Neither are really that, but they're labelled into the genre anyway.

They don't think they're punk, Wise up. The people and media protray them as punk. They sacrifice the political agnst of punk for teen agnst. It's very well marketed. Make the kids think they are rebelling by buying alternative clothing, and comedy/ "poor old me" lyrics. It keeps them from disciovering true raw music, something the majors cannot control, and at the same time lining their coperate pockets.

I don't see the difference between Simple Plan or GC and anything released on Fat Wreck/ Epiptath. But people who listen to Fat Wreck bands are being marketed too, by a major label pretending to be a punk label, pretending it isn't Warner Bros, pretending it's all fucking music. But it's business baby. Money, not music.

Fuck them all.
