Title: Racer X
Post by: Walk on October 07, 2005, 08:05:54 PM
This band is mostly famous for having Scott Travis, the Judas Priest drummer. However, in their 80's heydey, they put out some great shred metal! Their solos have Yngwie and Eddie Van Halen feels to them; in fact, they're the best parts of the songs. They know how to play extremely fast and accurately. Their most famous song is Heart of a Lion, which Judas Priest covered. I can't decide which version I prefer, but the song itself is great! If you like fast, traditional shred metal, you'll like Racer X.

By the way, the bassist is also a member of Mars Volta, so fans of that band might be interested in Racer X.

You seem to have forgotten to mention the main man of RacerX, Paul Gilbert. He's the one who does all the shredding anyway. Nice band.  : ok:

I was just gonna say that!!! The high pitched singer spoils them.

are you serious the mars volta bassist used to be in racer x.

thats trippy. such a different style of music. racer x is so precise and technical while mars volta is free flowing and loose.

i know very little racer x. mainly scarified smoke and mirrors.

Their first 2 albums both fit on a single burned CDR. ;) It's very good driving music, but what else would you expect from a band named Racer X?
