Title: George Thorogood Post by: Sakib on January 16, 2006, 02:37:54 PM Hey guys,
I pal of mine introduced me to his stuff a little over a month ago. I think he's pne of the best rock n roll frontmen of all. My favourite song of his is Bad Boy. I also like 1, bourbon, 1 scotch 1 beer or summat like that. So any of you fans out there? I think "One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer" is actually a John Lee Hooker song. I've heard the original, but never Thorogood's cover version. It doesn't surprise me that they covered it, though, since they're basically a bar band. My folks have a copy of his Bad To The Bone album, so I occasionally hear that. Aside from the title track, which I loved as a kid but which I'm kinda sick of now, there's a whole bunch of good tunes on there. I especially like "Back To Wentzville". They're a good band to get drunk to. Title: Re: George Thorogood Post by: sandman on January 17, 2006, 01:32:58 PM i've been a big fan all my life. he has tons of great songs - straight up rock n roll.
but i've always wondered....is his popularity regional, or is he popular all across the US (or even the world)? i live in philly and he's from DE, so he's played on various radio stations all the time. is it like that everywhere? Title: Re: George Thorogood Post by: Sakib on January 17, 2006, 02:36:45 PM i heard he's pretty big in Canada. As in the UK, I don;t know anyone that knows him. i believe he's hugely underrated. He could be a fairly underground rock n roll artist in terms of international popularity

"Bad to the Bone" is a good song, but cant say I know any others by him. Goo bar music at the minimum.. |
