same melody, same lyrics, same vocal tempo, same EVERYTHING.... but not Axl singing.
imagine another singer, let?s say, the lead singer from Darkness, or Fred Durst, or Mike Patton, or Scott Weiland, Sammy Haggar... anyone

will you keep saying "holly shit, CD will be the best album ever!" ??

I would. TWAT and IRS are great songs in the making. If done right I would. Better isn't GnR and im sorry cause everyone seems to love it.. But im starting to dislike it more and more.

of course not!!!!!!!!!!!

its all about Axl Rose......your question cannot be serious??!??

its his voice, his phrasing, his long notes, his....his....his.......everything!!!!

the new bands today wish they could live in Axl's world for half a day, and then maybe feel like a true rock star. everyone today is a poser....i feel bad for them, b/c even they know the truth, and even they know they are the sum of a corporation's idea.

Really?

I don't know about that.  Will people still be talking about Better 20 years from now?  Will they be playing it at every sports arena and stadium during time-outs and half times.  Guess that all remains to be seen...

All the songs are good.  But none have that amazing opening riff GnR were always known for.

I don't like any of those vocals/bands anyway, but I can imagine mick jagger, freddy mercury, alice cooper singing them

No, it wouldn't be the same.  Axl is a instrument.  The Axlmonica.

The same question should be asked about all of GNR's work. There is no denying what makes GNR music that special something is the voice.

if axl wasn't singing these tunes no one would be on their thousandth listen that is quite obvious.. Songs these same people bash would get instant classic radio friendly hit status if axl sung them.. You don't really expect honest opinions here...

Man, you picked three outstanding frontmen on that one.  You are right, if they sang this song, it would still rock.  I would love to hear Jagger's expression of these songs.

the estrogen levels on this board are through the roof with all the timberlake like loving, it's like a bunch of 12 year olds saw their first boob on an R rated film...

We all love songs and we all enjoy music but turn it down a notch, most people here are like starving people shown a piece of ground beef acting like it was the best steak ever..

It's easy to see most people aren't gnr fans but axl rose fans and whatever he sings is great regardless of what it is especially since it took so long and everyone convinced themselves cd was the best album ever without hearing most of the tunes

People are going crazy cuz it's finally something...I mean this is more then we have gotten ever and people are expressing all their feelings on the songs.   IRS was great at the time when it was first leaked on the forums.   This is like so much more then that...it's a better version of IRS plus 2 other songs.
I am excited too so yeah...we are all baking in it right now.    While I get your point, it's just great to have so much buzz here, finally feeling that posting about the same shit year after year...this is like our payoff :hihi:   Until CD actually gets releases :peace:

Mike, I know exactly where you are coming from....

Do I need to rehash my pathetic thread "How Pathetic Are We," ?. ?I agree. Look at all the newbies here. ?It is nuts! ?I feel like the guitars are trying to sound like something Slash might play to keep the GNR sound cause Axl knew how important that sound was. ?These songs are good. ?If Pretty Tied Up was one of the leaks, people would say "Oh my god, this is one of the all time great GNR songs...." ?Now, I like Pretty Tied Up, but it is not one of the All Time Great GNR songs, but it is on the level of these leaks if that makes sesnse.....

All I'm saying is yes we should be happy for this long wait is almost over and  we got some good tunes etc, but the chick factor going on is unreal.. Of course PTU would get this too... I won't even say it's lacking slash or anything like that.. Just the reactions are like people bought their first radio..

Polly Not with those singers you listed...

But I definitely will on condition that the vocals should match the songs.

The songs that are the works of the 8 guys are that powerful.

And It seems that some ppl are missing that time all too badly and Out of time.

PPBebe, that second part you said there... so true. :crying:

To all those people who were old enough to appreciate good music back in those days, I am immeasurably jealous of y'all. *sniffle*

Some of these lyrics are really good, but I must say I didn't really like the songs very much.

I hate Fred Durst, and Sammy Hagar.  Freaking whatever that guy said about his phrasing and his voice, and what he just f'n does with music.

Scott Weiland was brilliant with STP but not so much with Velvet.

If it wasn't all about Axl..... wouldn't Velvet Revolver be twice as big?

Jimbo, the only reason VR suck is because Axl isn't the vocalist.

If I ever go to a VR concert, I'm going dressed in full Axl regalia, brandishing a huge sign saying "WHERE'S AXL?"

:hihi:

Although when I get down to painting the sign, I'll probably end up painting a huge long essay on where Axl is, and why he's not in VR, and why VR suck ass, and other such things...

I have a lot to say! ;D

When and if you do see VR, they will rock your ass off, and it will be the best concert you have seen. Read the reviews. VR will rid you of your delusions of grandeur  about a high pitched middle-aged man who obviously misses his mates  to help him write memorable songs that have a melody and  that are  listenable.

SG just to say you'd love a vr concert,, major rock a thon is all I'm going to say..

.. if this was say your third favorite band would you sit here listening to demos that many times trying to decipher(sp) lyrics, and dreaming about how many copies one album might sell, or what would be the best radio single./..

I still think a good classic opening is missing in these songs.. Not a big fan of oh my god but that has the best opening guitar wise for me of the newer stuff

:hihi: Nah. I'm too much of a Gn'R fan to like VR.

I did TRY to like them. I bought the album, listened to it, thought "This is nothing special really..." listened to it again to make sure I didn't miss anything, and then thought "Nah.... this ain't workin'".

Its not like I HATE VR... I just don't like em! They do nothing for me!

Gn'R are the complete opposite end of the scale. They do everything and more for me! Pantera are a close second, and then all the other bands I love are all mashed into one big joint third...
