Celebrities - Join Together Again!  Posted by Rose Quintiliano on Sep 18, 2005, 11:41

Celebrities once again have joined together to raise funds for the recovery of New Orleans and the damage by Hurricane Katrina. One of the largest events took place on Sept. 10, a concert special that raised money for the Red Cross and promoted volunteerism. The artists included Green Day, Ludacris, Usher, Alicia Keys, John Mellencamp, Dave Matthews, Rob Thomas, David Banner, Chester Bennington of Linkin Park and Gretchen Wilson, to name a few. The donations have been pouring in by celebrities, including best-selling author John Grisham and hotel magnate Leona Helmsley. On a personal note, my heart goes out to all the victims of Hurricane Katrina and I will continue to pray.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I can?t get no satisfaction! Or, at least a half-time show. It looks like the Stones will be performing at the Feb. 5 Super Bowl, according to close sources and reported by the Detroit Free Press. Mick Jagger and his Rolling Stones have kicked off their 37-city "Bigger Bang World" tour, which coincides with the release of their new CD, "A Bigger Bang." It?s their longest studio album since the 18-song "Exile on Main Street" in 1972. Did you know that "Satisfaction" by the Stones was inspired during their tour of North America in 1965? Keith Richards woke up during the middle of the night in a Clearwater, Flor. motel with music running through his head and tape-recorded it. The following morning he played it to Mick, and the rest is history.

Speaking of legends, Axl Rose has been plagued by legal woes for years. The most recent lawsuit against the frontman of Guns N Roses was filed on Aug.17 in federal court by former band members Slash and Duff, legally known as Saul Hudson and Michael McKagan. The lawsuit accuses Rose of directing the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) to send all royalties to his publishing company, bypassing the other band members. Another pending lawsuit was filed last year by Slash and Duff which alleges Rose had blocked the two former band members from licensing the band?s recordings to movie producers. In a recent press release, Axl Rose?s attorney Howard Weitzman said that Slash and Duff need to get their facts straight.

"The amount ASCAP mistakenly sent to Axl?s publisher was never received by Axl nor was he ever made aware of the error. The publisher alerted ASCAP to the error, returned the money immediately and asked ASCAP to remedy the situation by distributing the funds appropriately."

Weitzman also said that Slash and Duff have a history of filing "sensational but baseless lawsuits for the purpose of generating anti-Axl propaganda." Even though Axl Rose is facing legal problems, it didn?t stop him from chatting and signing an autograph for a fan in Malibu a few weeks ago. Axl told the fan "Chinese Democracy" will be released early next year, and Guns N Rose?s is also looking to put a new song on "The Da Vinci Code" movie soundtrack. The movie, based on Dan Brown?s controversial best-selling novel, is currently in production and stars Tom Hanks. Could 2006 be the year for legendary Axl Rose?

Rose?s Scoop: Jennifer Lopez recorded a reggaeton song a few weeks ago with Pharrell Williams in Puerto Rico. Reggaeton is the latest craze, a mix of Jamaican reggae, hip-hop and Latin beats. Sheryl Crow will be tying the knot with Lance Armstrong next spring. Crow?s fifth album, "Wildflower," will be released later this month. Finally, The Emmys will be aired on Sept. 18 with host Ellen Degeneres, a New Orleans native.

I dunno.. lol im happy. First news/rumor I've heard in WAYYYYYYY too long. This board is going insane because we have no news to speculate on. Im starting to lose my GN'R illusion.. I just wish Axl would put out a press release.

O well. I'll stay.

I don't know why this piece of news has me optimistic, but it does.  Just makes it that more disheartening when we find out its probably bullshit.

I for one read the book, and if thier is any interset in axl and gnr doing a tune or so for this, its gonna be killer!!!!!!!!!!!

But then again a tune may have already been written , and fits well, who knows, but to me this is more believable than anything else , I read rumor wise. :peace:

Chinese Democracy starts n--

Oh.

In 2006. Chinese Democracy starts in 2006.

I bet Axl has read and enjoyed the book, though. Not sure why, but I do and the soundtrack would be as good a place as any for a really deep and cool new GNR track. It is a great book and the film will have a built-in worldwide audience.

Maybe for his next book, Dan Brown can have Robert Langdon investigate the many veiled meanings in Axl's recent faxes and the secret clues hidden within the Use Your Illusion records and trilogy videos to discover the long-lost secret location of the CD master tapes.

The timing seems fine. The album is released in march/april or May, they release the original soundtrack for the movie, let's hope it will do great on charts, then they start touring with Rock in Rio (late may/early june), and stay in Europe for the summer, doing a couple of shows.

Amazing. I loved the DVC book, and I'm sure the movie will be amazing (Howard behind the camera, Tom Hanks, Jean Reno and Audrey Tautou in the casting, fuckin great).

That would be awesome if GN'R would put up a new song on this soundtrack. We'll know soon enough I guess.

Da Vinci code ? A fun read but I didn't actually like the way it was interpreted by most of the readers ... as if the historic events were real ... But hey, if GNR really is on the sountrack it's good news !

With Jean Reno and Audrey Tautou, the movie will have a big exposure in France. It may be good for GN'R popularity in France if they do the soundtrack don't you think?

The release of OMG on the End of Days soundtrack spiked rumors of CD being released.? Yet, 6 years later, the world is still waiting.? Hopefully this tidbit of news in true and Axl will make good on his word.? We'll have to wait and see if 2006 is THE year.  I'm not holding my breath...

It's funny that two people as wholesome as Tom Hanks and Ron howard are joining to film a very controversial movie, and now may add the most dangerous band in the world to their soundtrack.

I'm not trying to say he doesn't talk to his fans at all. I just find it hard to believe that, he'd tell one fan such information before he tells the entire fanbase, it just doesn't make sense, but it is Axl we're talking about so it could be true, I'm hoping it's true. I'm just a bit suspicious is all.

The confidentiality agreements seem to relate to Axl's distrust of the media.  He doesn't want his maid or someone working on the album going to the media and spreading a pack of lies about him, which is entirely understandable.  Generally when people meet Axl they report that he is a very friendly and open person and it looks like someone asked him a question and got an honest answer.

I think the movie comes out in May of 2006.  The soundtrack would probably come out at about the same exact time.  May isn't too far away.  This could be huge.  But like other people have said, it can't be too reliable coming from a fan.  We will just have to wait and see.

I think next spring/summer will be very hot concerning GN'R. On top of that it will be the Football Worldcup. Everything is going to be big. Everything is going to happen in Europe, RIR, GN'R come back (?), the Worldcup, plus the Da Vinci "la Joconde" paint is in "Le Louvre" in Paris, and I guess the movie will bring a lot of people (sighseeing) to go to Le Louvre. And in people's mind, inconsciently, they may associate the paint to the movie, and then to GN'R.

Everything combined could be a phenomenal promotional push for the band. Definitely MUCH bigger than in 2002. It could be even bigger than in 1991 with Terminator 2. Very good news (if it's true). Everybody wants something big. Beeing big is what GN'R is destinied for. This is the status of this band. This band is destinied to be #1.

he played it to Mick, and the rest is history.

Hey, How is it possible that a "Fan" was able to CHAT with Axl, isnt that frustrating? We all Guns N Roses fans, have been asking for a chance like this, but Now again, How is it possible that, THAT Malibu fan was able to chat with him? Well it pisses me off dudes... And By the way,  How can we, simple mortals, ever chat with him?   :crying:

Anyway, Viva el reggaeton es buena onda eh ;)

Well, apparently Merck prefers to stay on the fence on this rumor - which, in itself, isn't bad news for us.

Let me explain. We exchanged multiple emails about the published story about the Da Vinci Code soundtrack and the rumored early 2006 release date.

At first, he said he can't take the time to respond to every single rumor. So, I pointed out that this particular one appeared in a published newspaper article and was quoting Axl. So, I asked if Axl had been misquoted.

After a few more exchanges, where he gave rather cryptic replies, I simply asked flat-out if he would confirm if the two rumors were false.

His reply:

".... It means it might be true and that equally well it might not be true."

*sigh* ... Ok, I know this isn't the answer many wanted - but it does offer hope. Keep in mind - in the past, Merck would flatly dismiss rumors that were totally untrue.  He didn't do that this time.

Merk reply is called a "diplomatic" reply. It means the rumour is TRUE. It's like when 2 companies negociate. They never say "yes" but "it might be not false". They never confirm, they just avoid to deny it.

Guys, it will be huge. The countdown has already started.

Sounds good to me Nesquick! I like the sound of this theory!! I for one would love to see a GnR song on the Da Vinci Code soundtrack, because it has been one of the best books I have read in ages along with all of Dan Browns novels!

I could care less about a soundtrack appearance, I want the damn CD!!!!

Seriously, GnR should put everything else aside until that hurdle has been jumped,

we've already had like 2 (End of Days and Interview with a Vampire) or 3 (if you count Big Daddy) soundtrack songs since TSI. Enough already, release an album then whore out your songs to movies.  ;)

I tend to think that the rumor is true... It makes a ton of sense... and would certainly seem to vindicate Axl's waiting all these years for "just the right moment"... etc... Plus, plenty of reasons ($$$$) for Howard, Hanks, Brown, the movie studio, record label, GN'R, etc. to want this deal to go down...

My worry is about whether Axl can deliver the music in time. We know he doesn't respond well to the pressures of deadlines. This type of transaction only adds on another layer of people (movie studio execs.) barking at Axl to get the project finished... ?

If Axl is already done with the album, or virtually done... I like the chances of this going down. But if he has say 15% still to go- I have a hard time seeing Axl busting his balls to get the record (or track) finished just so Ron Howard can have his music for his precious movie... :nervous:

Hopefully the finished record is sitting in the can (as some have speculated) and Axl is just waiting for the right time to put it out... and thus DVC can be the vehicle he's looking for.

Seriously dude! Plus, if they are gonna do the soundtrack bullshit, why not go for one of the big blockbuster releases? I don't know much about this thing (I just watched the trailer and it was nothing but hype, so I couldn't get a sense of what the movie is about), but it's not even a Memorial Day or Independence Day release. Furthermore, it's based on a book, so it's most likely going to get a load of criticism from fans of the book who didn't like how the movie was made (with a few exceptions like LOTR, this almost always happen). Tom Hanks doesn't have the starpower he used to. His last few movies have not done that well. Then we're gonna have people saying that Axl is copying VR cuz they did soundtracks. This is an all around bad idea.

If all of this does pan out , the spring of 06' is going to be pretty good for GnR fans . The release finally of the new Guns record, a new single by GnR, and a new VR album. Hell that is enough to tide me over for the whole year. I dont even bother calling it 'Chinese Democracy' anymore, i really will be surprised if they still use that after all of these years.

This movie will be huge - a blockbuster
The book has been a huuuugeee success as in one of the biggest phenomenons the literary worlds ever seen - broken records as a bestseller etc...
Mark my words, Tom Hanks waning starpower will not stop this movie being a huge one - it has an enormous ready-made fanbase

No movie,  no matter the budget, hence,   'Black Hawk Down'    is any kind of justice to the songs of GNR.   these movies are just
corporate marketing blunders trying to whore out the great songs of old bands like GNR.   Yeah they have great tunes  like 'Jungle'
'sweet child' already put into shit soundtracks, but does that even do justice to a band of great stature like GNR?   Not enough corporate money can justify that.   Thank God Axl is the ONLY one thinking of preserving their roots,  not like Duuf and Slursh trying to whore anything to pay for their mansions!

Lol

Btw, Nesquick has a point about the chance. Besides it doesn't matter how good or worth is the movie (GN'R used songs like KHOD in average movies). The attraction matters most. End of Days wasn't a worthy movie too and oh my god doesn't remind us the movie that much. It doesn't mean the song will be willy-nilly connected with the movie content. Just a metaphor, so relax. It won't hurt the reputation of the songs. I don't like the da Vinci washout, but it's a good movement if it's gonna be real.
And Tom Hanks is still big star, mind you.

The reason why they wanted to put Jungle on the blackhawk down soundtrack was not to "whore it out" but because it was based on a true story and THEY WERE REALLY LISTENING TO JUNGLE in a part of it.

The writer/reporter, Rose Quintiliano, says Guns N' Roses is his all time favorite band, and that he's a "die hard" fan of Axl...
it appears also that he is a fan of heretodaygonetohell.com  : ok:

From Canyon News' Star Gazing by Rose Quintiliano:

Nov. 1, 2003:  Axl Rose Guns N' Roses frontman who I've been hunting down, is harder to find than Osama Bin Laden. Been under a rock? Then, and only then, have you NOT heard of "Chinese Democracy."The question on everyone's mind is when is "Chinese Democracy" going to be released? The talk on the street is that he has been working hard on the most promised album in the history of rock which we are hoping will be released by the end of 2003. According to one of my sources Axl is very down to earth and very friendly contrary to popular opinion and press reports. A lot of people commented on how good he looked as well and in person Axl did appear fit and youthful. He seems hopeful that patient fans would finally have the album by the end of the year. One thing that may bear in the equation is the recent changes with Geffen Records. It seems that MCA Records was effectively folded and most of the roster was moved over to Geffen. Word on the street is Geffen will be reorganized and in effect become once again a full self-standing record company (over the past few years Geffen was ran as part of Geffen / Interscope / A&M). What that means is there will be more muscle behind a new GNR release when the time comes. According to the source Axl didn' touch the subject, it may be a favorable factor in the release of the album. Or it could mean that Axl, like many musicians, is simply a perfectionist and couldn't sit with the idea of releasing music he felt wasn't perfect. The last tour of Guns and Roses, was promoted by Clear Channel Communications. More than 5.7 million Guns and Roses fans can't be wrong. I'm a die-hard fan of Axl Rose, and all I'm going to say is remember "November Rain", I'm on your side. What do I have to do get a tattoo of Guns and Roses?

NOTE: It was brought to my attention that the write-up on Axl Rose that I mentioned that was sent to me by email is old news and that the information was from the Anti Music board. Unfortunately I took the information at face-value from my source, not realizing that I should verify everything first. In an email from Keavin Wiggins Publisher/Editor of Anti Music that I received dated October 31st he stated as follows regarding the release
of "Chinese Democracy":

No date yet. Axl came to our Led Zeppelin DVD release party and told us that he hopes to have the recording done by the end of the year. Basically he wants it perfect and he's co-producing it. That's all we know off hand at this point. As with anything GNR related, believe it when it happens.

May 21, 2004:  Guns N' Roses (my all time favorite) is in the top ten with the release of their "Greatest Hits." GNR is No.1 in the UK and Ireland, and No.3 in Belgium, according Jarmo Luukkonen, whose website www.heretodaygonetohell.com is one of GNR?s top unofficial fan websites.

Mar 20, 2005:  Star Gazing read the March 6 article in the New York Times ?The Most Expensive Album Never Made? regarding Guns N? Roses infamous ?Chinese Democracy? CD. As you may know, the die-hard fans of the group have been hanging on for decades, waiting for a glimmer of hope on the release date of the most anticipated CD of the 21st Century. Axl Rose, who has often been misunderstood if not excoriated by the press, has kept zip-locked about the article. Merck Mercuriadis, the chief executive officer of Sanctuary Group, and who currently manages Mr. Rose, responded to the article by writing a letter to the editor of the NY Times. The letter was posted on www.heretodaygonetohell.com, the unofficial Guns N? Roses site. ?Chinese Democracy? will undoubtedly be critically-acclaimed, if and when it will be released.

I don't think this writer would have printed this unless he/she had reason to believe it to be true.  And its good news...   So I'm pleased to hear it... and remain, as always, a believer and supporter of Axl and the new band.

I think you may have forgotten a little minor detail.  In 1991 GN'R were the biggest band in the friggin' universe.  That just isn't the case anymore.  You're really over-estimating the demand for GN'R.  If CD comes out, it'll be big.  But thinking it'll be bigger than UYI in '91 is just dillusional.

The movie's official site has gone live: http://www.sonypictures.com/movies/thedavincicode/

So I guess we'll soon get the soundtrack info there.

I just watched the trailer in some sort of desperate hope to hear a GN'R song.. hehe no luck as I guessed.

Where can I find, the "chat" between the Fan and Axl Rose?
From the opening post.

Even though Axl Rose is facing legal problems, it didn?t stop him from chatting and signing an autograph for a fan in Malibu a few weeks ago. Axl told the fan "Chinese Democracy" will be released early next year, and Guns N Rose?s is also looking to put a new song on "The Da Vinci Code" movie soundtrack.

OK?

The writer says Axl spoke to a fan "in Malibu".  Given that the publication, Canyon News, is local to Malibu, its to be inferred that the fan related this to the writer personally.  The writer however does not relate in what context or the hows or whys the fan related this to him/her.

"The rumor is not false or true at this stage". Do you really think that's clever? Out of the 12 long years of waiting, its actually the most moronic comment I've ever heard. Keep making statements like that, and there wont be anybody left to buy the album, speculate at the forums, or support any half assed tour. By the way, the reason they're all happy(Sanctuary AND Mysteron) about everyone discussing this new rumor, is because it lets them off the hook for their lame 2005 predictions.

For the fist time i agree with James, not that i care about de 2005 predictions, they are not God, things change "and it's not like they promised and hope to die". I still believe that a lot of the time this record is taking, has to do with geffen interscope or whatever their name is this days, and their expectations on the sort of music GNR sould be doing (comercial rockn Roll, forget the sex n drugs and just sell your soul), and the music they actually want to do.

But or they (GNR N maneg) are against rumors period, or they like it and then they can't keep their mouth shut calling us the fans stupid by saying we can't explain what really is going on. If they're bad rumous for GNR image the came running putting jornalist on the line, asking forums not to promote IRS spreed, not to believe everything you read bl? bl? bl?, and  i agree with that stand, can't say ? Say nothing at all or you can and a simple yes it's true or it's false.
But it's a good rumor for GNR  so, "please you the fans this is a good rumor you can spread it all around"....and if you keep being a good dog and pee in the right place w'll give you a bone ...in a near future (as soon is not the word), we'll actually give a concrete answer.
it's hypocrite and i'm really Disappointed.

the original rumour states " Axl told the fan "Chinese Democracy" will be released early next year, and Guns N Rose?s is also looking to put a new song on "The Da Vinci Code" movie soundtrack."

the first thing is to establish, what is it that we are questioning... and what is it we are assuming.

we, i believe, don't seem to care whether Axl did in fact say these things to a fan or not

we, it seems, only wish to know if the things which are claimed to be stated are true.

the first thing claimed, that Axl said these things, is being regarded as irrelevant

the first claim being considered is "Chinese Democracy will be released early next year"

Is THIS a fact that could be either verfied or denied by Merck or Management?

No.? Only facts can be verified.? What "wil be" is not a fact, and as such can be neither verified or denied - it is unprovable.

This alleged claim is niether true nor false.?

The only proper question would ask if there are plans to release the album "early next year".

Why does not Merck/management address this?? Please review the next claim being considered.

the next claim being considered is "Guns N Rose?s is also looking to put a new song on "The Da Vinci Code" movie soundtrack"

Merck is being asked if? GN'R is in fact, "looking to" get a song on the soundtrack.? (or is GN'R "planning on" releasing the album early next year)

Assuming that Merck is aware of any such action... it would not be in the best interests of GN'R to either verify or deny this.

If it is true that GN'R is looking to put a song on the soundtrack, (or planning to release the album early next year) and it does not work out, then it will not look good for GN'R.

So, then we ask, if he knew it not to be true -(that there is no effort to get a movie on the DaVinci soundtrack and/or that there is no plan to release the album early next year) he would say so, wouldn't he?? He's done that in the past (denied false rumours)!

So, as many have concluded - his lack of denial, eve with his lack to confirm, would indicate an affirmative response.

Why didn't he just say it was true then?!? Because that would not be in the best interests of GN'R, as I have already explained.

"But what about the fans? Don't we have a right to know?? Don't we deserve that much?! Etc., etc...."

What is done in the best interests of the band, should not be begrudged by those who claim to support it.

Not that Merck/management doesn't recognize and acknowledge us fans.? He has done just that time and time again.

Their 'being happy' that the fans are discussing this rumour is evidence of this. ;)

He just can not place any quest to be popular with all fans of GN'R, or any desire to please GN'R fans, above his responsibility to the band.

He's not being a hypocrite... don't be dissapointed. ;)

Now, as for the first thing claimed, that Axl said these things, being regarded as irrelevant - this to me is the most important part of the whole rumour/story.
Axl talking to a fan (or sharing these plans with anyone for that matter) to me is a great indication of his state of being.
Despite all the setbacks/ delays and doubts expressed by the media and the public ('fans'), what is claimed, would indicate that Axl is extremely optomistic.? ?

(and less Merck follows Axl around? :nervous: he can not verify what Axl has or has not said to anyone ;D )

The movie appears to be quite dark and mysterious, the trailer looked very intresting. Ron Howard is a decent director, didn't he won an oscar for "Beautiful Mind"?

Let's just keep our finger's crossed.

I wouldn't mind having a new GN'R song on ANY soundtrack out there.

Actually, I don't like Ron Howard. Appolo 13 was ok, but Beautiful Mind was too cheesy for me, made to win oscars (altough Jeniffer Connelly is always amazing to watch).

This Da Vinci Code is not supposed to be an action movie, right? So, the GNR song should be a mid-tempo (or a ballad?) to fit in the history...

Would they release a non-rocker song as the first single of the most awaited album? :nervous:

maybe they release madagascar on the soundtrack. i think it would be cool to have a studio version out and it would make place on the album for another song.  and a soundtrack song release isn`t necessarily a single or am i wrong?

i think the only argument contra madagascar is that it would be another reason for people to complain and whine about axl, because he released a song that we allready know for 4 years.

Hey folks,

If you have never read The Davinci Code, by Dan Brown, I highly recommend you do so.  It really kicks ass.  Here's an interesting passage with something I took notice of, being the GNR fan I am...

"...That's strange, because my grandfather always told me the Rose meant secrecy."
"Sub rosa,...The Romans hung a rose over meetings to indicate the meeting was confidential.  Attendees understood that whatever was said under the rose-or sub rosa-had to remain a secret."

Perhaps this explains Axl's ability to keep folks hush-hush.   ;)  They are "under the Rose."

BTW, I totally think Axl would dig this book, and I'll betcha he'd pay the movie studio to get a song on the soundtrack.

This quote "Sanctuary are happy for the rumour to spread around. It's not a problem". That may be right behind "The rumour is not false or true at this stage." As the second most moronic comment as well. So what is it now, GnR fans have to get Sanctuary's permission to discuss rumours. They outta be happy as hell that there are alot of people left around to discuss rumours. It turns into more of a joke all of the time. It is no wonder the band members have said the same story for the last few years.

They were definitely insulting our intelligence with those remarks. I used to expect some sort of backlash to happen. I dont really think we'll see a real backlash, you'll just see a smaller amount of people hanging out at the forums. Its already happening. Its the same few people who post here all the time. Its like that over at the other forums as well. People have used the analogy that CD is "a neverending joke with no punchline". People get tired of the joke, so they walk away. I just wonder that when the punchline finally comes, will there be anyone left to hear it?

The GN'R new sound, even if it's a hardest Rocker, should go well with a story with depth and work to good effect. I bet.  much better than with actions / "end of the days".

Saw this today at mygnrforum, posted by W. Axl Kev:

Ok,

A couple of days ago I emailed the Newspaper (Canyon News) which, published the article about the fan meeting Axl Rose in Malibu. This paper is released in Malibu, Beverly Hills etc.

Any way I asked if they could confirm beyond all reasonable doubt if the 'fan meeting' actually took place and this was the response I got;

-------------------------------------------------

Hi Kevin,

Regarding the article that I wrote on Axl Rose, an email was forwarded to
me on September 2, from a fan who met him in Malibu a few days before that
date.

The email contained two key elements that I didn't disclose in my article
that convinced me of the authenticity of its contents
. Yes, I truly
believe the fan, and stand behind what I wrote.

Thanks for reading, it's greatly appreciated. I'll be one of the first
people in line to buy CD!

All this talk sounds good, but I get the feeling this is going to fall flat out on it's face...Like every other "Perfect Time" in the past years.

IMO the best time to have released this album was after the MSG show in 2002...Play Philly etc...Then the turn outs for the show would have been getting better.

YOu do know why that is?.......cause it gathers info from all differnt sources, and if things are getting scewered its more than likely in my eyes that , many entitities are grasping at straws, or info is being funneled, to throw off everyone.

It's obvious bullshit. You can't have even a rough edit when they are still filming. The editor needs the whole set of shots to start editing. :P

There's no pirate.

The movie started filming, in Paris, on June 27th.

It was STILL filming (see the reports of the Chapel controversy) in late September.

Even if they wrapped in mid October (they didnt', they're still filiming, though I can't find documentation of that), there's no way they'd have a rough cut pirate out already.?The Editor would have barely gotten the final versions of the footage in house, the Special Effects woudn't be done, the sound editing wouldn't be complete, there sure as hell would be no music or score.? About all that COULD exist is some dailies smuggled out and strung together by some production assistant.? And let me tell you....even that ain't out there.

The movie isn't slated for theaters until May of next year, for cripes sake.

A month or two, maybe (because they either get a leak from the studio or a cam shot of a screener).  You're talking, right now, 6 months from release AND the movie is still in active production.

I'll eat the DVD if it's an actual pirate of the movie, provided you'll send it to me for verification.  ;D

Hell, I will eat it after it passes through Pilferk.  No such thing exists, as the movie is still filming.

On another note, even early tests of a film do not contian music in them.  The music is usually the last or next to last piece of production.

I was driving to work this morning, and I was listening to a program called "Back-Tracks U.S.A.," apparently hosted by Kid Kelley.  The program is not local to Delaware.  It's syndicated across the U.S.  This morning's program was all '90's songs.  I'm not ashamed to admit I was listening to Cristina Aguilera's "Genie in a Bottle."  (The chick's hot, and I'm shallow, and the song has a good beat)  As I'm pulling into work at around 8:10 am, the d.j. comes on as the intro. of November Rain is starting up.  He says, "Lead singer of Guns N Roses, Axl Rose, has told fans to expect a new song by Guns on the soundtrack for the upcoming movie, The Davinci Code."  No further info. was given, or a source for that matter.

While I was quite happy to hear it, I'm sure it was info. taken from the same rumors we've heard already.  I kinda laughed and thought to myself, "Axl hasn't said jack-shit to us fans  :hihi:"  Anyhow, I just thought I'd let y'all know!

P.S.  a note for Devoid and anyone else who hasn't read the Davinci Code...READ IT!  It's a very interesting book.  I can TOTALLY see an emotional piano-driven work of Axl being worked into a soundtrack.  Axl should be paying the movie studio to get a tie-in with this AUTOMATIC MOVIE BLOCKBUSTER!  Can anyone say Terminator 2???  I'm totally serious...this would be huge for Axl and the new Guns.

The Curse of Guns n` Roses continues (indirectly):

Royal High Court, London: Dan Brown, author of "The Da Vinci Code" has been sued for plagiarism. The plaintiffs claim that Dan Brown literally copied their 24 year old book "The holy blood and the holy grail". The authors demand the removal of the book from bookshops and want the film to be banned in Great Britain. If being succesful they also want to sue in other countries.

source (in german): http://www.heute.de/ZDFheute/inhalt/8/0,3672,3904072,00.html

Most likely there will be a monetary agreement. If there is not however, maybe the Guns n Roses single (CITR) / marketing strategy is endangered. (if there shoulde be single on the soundtrack...)

A delay?  We've never had to deal with that before.   :crying:
Personally, I doubt DVC will be delayed.  Just my opinion.
The movie will be a HUUUUUUGE  hit.  It appeals to every age, and I remember my single buddy telling me that under the "What's the last book you read" section in all of his on-line dating profiles, 90% of the time it was The Davinci Code.  Females dig it big-time!  Hell, I dug it big-time too.  I repeat, Guns should be paying the studio to get on this soundtrack with an accompanying video a la YCBM.

I'll bet it's the Vatican and Opus Dei who are trying to sue Dan Brown and halt the movie from production. You know why.. because what Dan Brown wrote ITS THE TRUTH....

? ?i don't know if this has been posted or not.? but i was watching the early show here in the u.s.? and they said there is or is going to be a lawsuit between the author of the book and the movie producers or whatever you call them.? and there was some other book in there too for copyright infringement or something.? i couldve heard wrong ,but it's? something like that.? the point being i hope this doesn't get pushed back? JUST INCASE THE RUMOUR ABOUT A GN'R SONG BEING IN IT IS TRUE.

Yeah, the authors of a book called "Holy Blood,Holy Grail" are suing him.  It's a book Brown actually gives a mention in Da Vinci Code.  But, there are enough differences, not to mention enough of the informatiion is in the public forum, to make me surmise the suit is going to get tossed.

A similar suit, filed last year, got thrown out of court too.  I don't think the authors are going to have much luck blocking anything...but it's a sensational story to run with in the press.  Sorta like the Harry Potter lawsuits that got so much press when they were filed...and then got thrown out of court.

I hope so... so that we can enjoy the movie and a soundtrack from AXL.
I hate those asshole who are trying to sue him.

Haven't you heard? Axl's been waiting for this film to be made and released for years now. Ever since he met Dan Brown in 1993 and they discussed a great idea for a book Dan had. If the film doesnt come out, the album doesnt come out. The album is really just a complimentary good to the book/film.

Some people go over the top sometimes without really thinking

The 'Da Vinci Code' thing may hit a very big snag:- http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/4754308.stm

On the BBC news tonight it mentioned the possibility of the book being removed from stores and even the film being prevented from ever being seen.

I'm not terribly familiar with the British legal system (or law in general, for that matter), but I don't see anything much being held up by that law suit, people borrow central themes and ideas all the time.  Seems like a frivilous lawsuit aimed at someone with deep pockets if you ask me.

I'm not sure about that. The two books at the centre of the argument are published by the same company, who are apparently a bit hacked off, but a representative of the publishing company did admit that this could have very serious repercussions.

I agree with what you are saying about borrowing central themes, but the authors of the original book are claiming that Da Brown has lifted such large chunks of their book...

Any updates on the Davinci Code rumors. The movie and the soundtrack are quickly approaching their release dates. Does anyone think that the first single could be included in the movie/ soundtrack. It really makes sense- I think Axl probably did try really hard to get a song on this movie since he is really interested in novels  and religious imagery and the time line is perfect as his New York shows will be less than a week before the release of the movie.  I tried to look for some information on the soundtrack listings to see exactly what type of cd it will be but it isn't listed yet. Anyone have an idea??

"Hollywood shit"...? I guess like Chinese Democracy, we should experience it before judging.
"MTV garbage"...? What has MTV got to do with The Da Vinci Code...?
"Media Circus"...? A great way of promoting the new music, Axl would be stupid to pass on the chance.

Actually, this film should be pretty good.
It has a great director (Howard) and some great actors (Hanks, Tautou) and the book is written like a great thriller-movie.

Not that anyone really needs official comfirmation at this point, but Guns will not be featured on the soundtrack.

:)

I hate to break it to ya, but....it's not the official soundtrack of the movie.

It's just an album "inspired" by the book.

Good call. However, this says origional motion picture soundtrack, with composition by Hans Zimmer.

Yes, THAT is the soundtrack (The Da Vinci Project is not).

I don't see a track listing there, though (I could be missing it).  If you mean the fact it lists just the composer, and no other artists, I'd say I think you're on to something.

I did see one on another web site, awhile back...and it was all classical Zimmer tracks.  Nothing remotely GnR related.

But, now that I'm thinking back...the official Terminator 2 soundtrack didn't have YCBM on it, either. It was all instrumentals from the movie.... I think it may have just been released as a T2 Soundtrack Single, but I'm not sure.

No, it didn't
http://www.mymusic.com/product.asp?myptr=froogle&curr=0&muzenbr=150047

But considering the movie comes out soon, i think we would have heard something on this by now. But then again, it doesn't release until after the NYC shows. This whole tour may have been in the works alot longer than any of us know.

i don't think you will see a GNR song on a soundtrack ala "Oh My God".  But the song could still be in the movie.  Case in point: T2 as well as Big Daddy.

You're absolutely correct, Pilferk. YCBM was NOT featured on the T2 soundtrack as the soundtrack was actually the film's instrumental score (by Brad Fiedel if I remember correctly). YCBM was later released as it's own single (Civil War as the B-Side) AFTER the T2 soundtrack was already out.

I suspect this DaVinci Code soundtrack is exactely that...the instrumental score and nothing more. Which is not to say GN'R couldn't pull a T2 move again, but who knows.

Wasn't Interview With a Vampire done the same way? Instrumental score on the soundtrack and a seperate GN'R single (sympathy for the devil with an instrumental B-Side from the score of the movie)?

nope, SFTD was on the sountrack.
