Title: GnR on the Aerosmith Bio
Post by: ZhouGongjin on March 09, 2006, 12:10:24 AM
"Also memorable in 1987, was the Permanent Vacation tour. Although a good album, Aerosmith made the mistake of taking Guns N' Roses with them. Guns N' Roses dominated the stage, overshadowing Aerosmith's performance."

From the Aerosmith Bio on Wikipedia.

All Hail GnR!  : ok:

That was in 1988.

That quote kind of made it sound like a bad thing, but I think Aerosmith knew what they were getting into. I think Aerosmith looked at it like they were passing the torch to the next great American rock n' roll band & weren't really concerned if some band 1/2 their age overshadowed them a little.

I'm not sure but if I remember right, Aerosmith manager said that they were really pissed because of the attention Gn'R got when the tour ended and they were making some interviews. But like W. Botaxl Rose said, I think they knew what they were getting into..

Aerosmith was good friends with Guns N' Roses.

Joe Perry is Slash's idol. Steven Tyler told Adler and Duff and Slash to be careful wit alcohol, gave them some good advice.

Aerosmith also did a second tour with Guns during the Illusion days.

Didn't Steven say that he screwed Tyler during that tour in the MS interview?

Can you really listen to anything Steven says?

Aerosmith (aerosmith-rocks) is GREAT, to me they are (were) one of the best bands around but one of the best parts of Walk This Way (the book) was when Slash bought Joe perry's guitar back after Perrys ex wife Elyssa Shivved it from him...that mad eme super stoked

I remember reading an article about that. Izzy also said Tyler warned him that if he starts to see "worms" then it's time to quit the drugs.  And then Izzy did hallucinate about worms coming out of his drawer and he knew he had to clean himself up.  I think Tyler and Perry are very good friends with Slash and Izzy.

we need IzzyDutch to tell us which article this was in!
