Title: Bucketheads White Les Paul
Post by: Layne Staley's Sunglasses on April 11, 2006, 01:01:14 AM
What's that hole in it that he sticks his finger in?  Is it standard or is it a modification?

All about Buckethead's White Les Paul is here (http://www.bingeandgrab.com/buckets_les_paul.html). I think the 'hole' u're referring to is the kill switch?

Hmm...interesting.  I had never seen anyone with that ever, until his lessons.  And you know the part in Better, about 2:30 on?  I think he uses it.

I read a few years back that he had Gibson custom-make this guitar at a larger scale because he's so big.  It's longer than a regular LP.  But I don't think it's a baritone, although I could be wrong.

Tom Morello uses a kill switch a LOT.
he doesn't have a button thing like Bucket though, but an actual switch.
you can get the same effect with a regular Les Paul if you turn off the volume on one of the pickups, and flick the pickup selector back and forth, but it's easier with a button thing like Bucket has.

Buckets white LP looks fuckin awesome IMO!

Yeah, at the end of the Godfather theme, Slash would do that (flipping the switch)  That is an awesome looking guitar, a nice solid color.  It looks like a giant cake.

his jackson flyin v has a custom made body, a bigger body, to avoid the contrast between a small body and his big hands.

finck has at least one goldtop with a killswitch to. it's an easy mod to a guitar and comes in handy in live situations. many  players have it.

Yea thats pretty noticable.  I would assume the same thing for his LP.

I believe he had the volume right down on one pickup and up on another.  I could be wrong though.

Actually I think he's just had his pickup selector moved because it got in his way.  But, I could be wrong.

Are they manufactured by Gibson that way or is it a special modification?

It's a special mod, and a cool one at that.

no I think you're right. there's nothing on top of his guitar where the pickup selector usually is. it's just like a black spot there.
I think he's got it placed where the bridge pickup volume knob is usually placed.

I've got a 1979 Gibson The Paul, where the pickup selector is placed near the volume and tone knobs, so I guess there were Gibsons made with the pickup selectore near the bridge.
