Ok, so I was talking to the dj of a radio station here in NJ. And trust me when I tell you this...shes straight foward and truthful..plus she knows Im a diehard gnr fan.....

so anyways here it goes....

Axl has been in the city for a number of reasons..One is obivious.....The other is that he was getting either the first single and or the album mastered.I think she said the first single....

She said that mgmt told her that the first single of this new era will be released 4-6 weeks from now to go with their launch.....she also said they werent gonna announce these warmups till Monday but MGmt gave all stations and the venue ok to do it today...




and btw...I will be trying to get as many tix as I can. SO if any1 doesnt get lucky and wants to go hopefully I can hook my loyal friends up..{haters or no haters}...{mike? :)}...

and hopefully some1 here can hook me up if i dont get lucky......

not to rain on your parade or anything but why are people always saying that, just because you heard those two song titles mentioned somewhere? why wouldn't you want axl to pick any song he sees fit, whether we have heard the title of it mentioned or not?

This titles that have been mentioned by us were all mentioned by people who have worked on the record.
'Prostitute' is said to be the strongest track by both sanctuary and some others who have worked on the cd.

I know that. But we don't have a clue about how they sound, or did I miss a few leaks or something? :hihi:

I hope they release Better, for sure.? Unless there's a catchier, heavier, more in your face track that we haven't heard.? Better will grab the casual fan's attention and spark interest.? If it's any of the other leaks people are gonna have that "this is what took so damn long!?" impression.

I'm not sure if Better would do well on the radio although it is a very powerful song. Guess we'll just have to see..

Trust me, it will be IRS. This song had a limited impact for me originally, but having heard the other leaks (which I think are amazing btw) IRS is the song that sticks with me. I sing it in the shower, I hum it whilst at work, fuck I love it.

I also think it has the most universal appeal of the 'new' songs. IMO!

I agree.  "Better" is killer, even in demo form.  Definitely a great choice for a 1st single.

That's odd. They have just added it then.
Because I typed the name of the venue earlier and Guns N'Roses wasn't listed.

I think the singles should go....

1. Better (It's catchy at first, daring when it goes into the metal part, and strong enough to get the old fans interested and get new listeners interested)
2. The Blues (A great radio song, and touchy enough to even get a lot of casual music female listeners interested.)
3. Gnr's best track on C.D should come here...
4. Finish it off with "There Was a Time"

The problem with your list is nr 3, what if Better or The blues is the best track on CD?
What if it is more than 4 tracks that is strong enough to be singles ?
My point is that without listening to the tracks on CD, none of us should have opinions on which order they should release singles.

It's named after album which seems to help people. It's a rocker not too long not too short. Many will go Chiense Democracy? Singles being released now I remember the album's named that oh yeah. It's catchy lines I remebered after one listen were "Even with an iron fist" "tim than you've got for masturbation" "chinese stew" "falun gong" i sing along to this song. IRS or Better could be good choice also. But maybe there is something. We can't properly judge without hearing the album but from what we've heard then yeah. If they've done some more work on silkwroms then maybe. Possibly Rhiad as well. Anything that sounds rockish no ballads as first single. Ballad can be second or third.

What if the songs we've heard aren't the best ones Axl has up his sleeve? :peace:

First single is for sure gonna be rocker though.. Not the best track on C.D but a straight rocker, not to long (or short), and maybe a bit radiofriendly.. I think Better is maybe 'too hard' for the mainstream public..  ???

The first single should be the best rocker on the album. The first single will have to sell the album, it needs to be a killer song.

If it's up to the record company, or even up to me, I would put out a rocker, very radio friendly, if you want to sell albums-don't try and make a statement about how different Chinese Democracy is than previous GNR work is-Van Halen made this mistake with Van Halen 3 (Without You), Motley Crue also when the came back in '97-I love GNR, though, even if they sold 10 records, don't get me wrong

I'll get chills the first time I play Madagascar at the bar and have them blast it-its my fav new song, not sure if public would buy it right away, though

From the ones I've heard, my vote is for TWAT, but who knows? People keep saying The General is the big gun, so that could be it.

The problem with TWAT is that it's not the most radio friendly.  It's too long and the solo's take up too large a portion.  I think Better is the best choice of what we've heard but it all depends on what else they have.

They need to have a short, catchy, radio friendly song that sticks out from the first notes, which Better does.  Once they've reestablished themselves and gained some credibility they can start to release stuff that doesn't fit the perfect 'single' genre.

Well, maybe IRS then... whichever, I just hope it isn't Better.

In terms of a single, "killer" = catchy, memorable, and representative of the band's sound.  I'm not saying it should be the best track off the album per se, but from the demos so far, "Better" seems to fit the bill (in a purely subjective, opinion-filled way, of course!).  Hell, I don't really care what it is, as long as there is a single released and an album that soon follows...

Playing Better at school, yeah, the response was great...That should be the first single, unless there is something we don't know about.

Yeah even the casual, not so casual GN'R fans like 'Better'. I played it for a girl at my school, and she's not really a big GN'R fan. She said she like 'Better' better than GN'R's old music. The next day she came in and told me that she downloaded all GN'R's new songs. Every person I played the new songs for agrees that 'Better' is the best. Thats not to say that there is anything better that will be on Chinese Democracy. But we can only go on what we've heard, so I say 'Better' from what we've heard. It catches both die-hard and new up and coming fans.

Whether you like "Better" or not, it's the most radio friendly song yet. IRS got lukewarm reception at best. The casual fan isn't going to want to sit through a long ballad like TWAT or Madagascar, or even The Blues. They need something fast, that stands out from the beginning, and changes tempo. "Better" does that while the intro to IRS can best be described as boring.

why do so some people still mention 'the blues' or 'madagascar'? axl said in 2002, that those tracks aren't considered as singles. although plans can change i don't think that it'S the case with those tracks.

from what we've heard ebtter would be an awesome single, but i guess it will be prostitute. if it's considered as the strongest track, then it's the best choice as a single/comeback-track.

Gn'R's first commercial hit single in nearly 10 years isn't going to be one with a demo or bootleg already existing.

I think it will be Prostitute. Supposedly it is one of the seminal songs on the album, it has a great title, and supposedly has a mix of hard and soft melodies.

Keep in mind this is just a dj so theres a chance this all cannot happen. The reason I think she has valid info is because she sounded confident, doesnt really care either way, and she knew about the 2 warmup shows for a week....so i though her info was atleast worth mentioning....

Yes, indeed. Here in Sweden they sell singles with rare B-sides. Most bands have that. It?s great!!

In some markets they do. But the "new" kind of singles are sold on Itunes Music Store.

$0.99 for a digital single. I assume that's how GN'R would sell theirs when they release one.

It might not be a common thing now, but back in those days alot of bands did it. Im pretty sure Metallica had a Enter Sandman single before the Black album was released, and Skid Row had a Monkey Business single before Slave. :beer:

Yea - I remember, back in the days before the internet was widely popular singles were a great way to generate hype about an album. Also great money makers because pretty much all fans would buy the singles.

And that's how you get it on the radio!

Im def buying all the singles and merch and assorted crap I can find from CD. Im going to start that GnR collection that I should have back in the day.

Frankly at this rate and pace GNR are goin, and all has been pretty much positive, there well may be a single out later this summer, before the fall release. BUt I suggest instead of harping on it, let the guys do thier thing , play these gigs, entertain the fans, and letthem build thenselves up to whre everyone can say. and agree this is truly now GNR. I did awhile ago. Some ae starting to see that now. Adn a lil thing like GNR taking out a full page add, jsut to thank people for a great time, really hit home for me. These guys are fucking serious about taking off. And I think Axl is very serious.

So for now , relax, I know its hard, reust me, lol, but I guess, as Im not so much younger than axl, Im not as impatient anymore. And expecially not after the marathon of shows I got to see in NYC. MSG 2002 was nothing compared to this . And I thought that was awesome.

Great post man, like the guy said, it is nice to here some positivity and some hope that things will get "better" and there will actually come a day when we will look back and say, "twat" when one of the most incredible awe inspiring albums came out and he called it "Chinese Democracy", GnsnfnR's!!!!!!!!!! ?To excited for what is to come, You know if it is any better than Stadium Arcadium I will be a happy camper yet I am not a skeptic, so It will be light years better and that is dam good if you ask me. ?

One ?thing that I think is funny, if I am wrong, I will accept and won't agree to disagree, so dont damn me. ?This might have been mentioned before hand, but I find it funny for people to think these are the way the songs are going to appear on the album. ?Management already confirmed that the songs sound nothing like this, they have all been revamped and these are only demos. ?So axl says, okay you download the demos you've heard, you've seen, and you conquered a raw demo, now we are going to pacify your longing for new material by giving you new material that will be as it is portrayed in its final form . ?I think Axl definatley will have some prizes in store, I am just glad to see the wheel turning toward us. I just can't wait to witness the inertia when it rolls full steam ahead. ?Talking about the leaks, they really do seem unfinished and uncomplicated, and remember when axl talked about the mixing ?sounding alot like Queen, yeah, give or take,it will be very polished, these songs will be out of this world. Axl is not going to give half of his hard earned work out before even the single comes out. I think we will all be surprised at what he has done as a whole, and more importantly to the songs we think we know , yeah right.
