I want to go to the Hard Rock, but am not sure about 5pm.  How long will everyone be there?  I am getting so excited!  It's going to be hard to top my memories of NY in May, but still it should be an awesome show!

I want to go in at like 10:30 or 11.? Do you think I will still be able to get in that late?? I like Helmet and Bach but I wanna be lit for GNRs set.? ?I saw Helmet at Warped Tour already too(they were the reason I went).? Also I don't want to risk getting tossed for? :smoking: inside so I gotta do it before.? ?I may try to get there for the end of Baz's set.? I'm just worried about them shutting the doors early.? Were there people coming in late the other night?

First of all...there was lots of bud smoking on sundays show. Or you could do what I do and buh buhda buh....eat the medicine in a fine and yummy baked muffin (or whatever).

Next lets clear some shit up. Am I the only one who loves the Suicide Girls? You fuckers don't like watching girls strip? I think they are a stroke of fucking genius having them open. I wish every GNR show from now 'till the end of time have the Suicide girls be one of the opening acts. Its a fucking Rock show...and there is chicks stripping. Whats the problem dudes? Eh...Im gone for the night...check back from work tomorrow...good fucking night!

With the album planned for March, I don't need them to play any new songs, I've already heard too much due to my impatience!!!

With that said I'd LOVE them to play Perfect Crime, as it appears to be on the options list, I am desperate to hear this given today's Gn'R's sound and abilities  : ok:  It has always been a personal favourite.

What time did they go on the 17th?  I want to go tonight or tomorrow but I get off work at 9pm and have a two hour drive to LA.  I should be fine using the timing of other concerts but wanted to confirm that they did not go on early (11pm) on the 17th.

Thanks!!

Nowadays, with how report cards are printed, you can't possibly change it.

Unless you're parents can't figure out that like your 65% is not a B.

WTF, D isn't failing and especially in a garbage course like Language Arts. lol whew that's rough.

To get to the front just:
1. get there early
2. be obnoxious and push your way to the front.

Just got back from the show.  What an amazing setlist and performance!!
Bumblefoot and Eruption was amazing.  Bubbles came on stage but did basically nothing.  I liked how Axl gave a background on Used to Love Her before singing it.  GNR played the new songs so well tonight.  Better and The Blues were incredible.  BTW, I heard Axl mention somthing about "you never know tomorrow night" or something.  After seeing this show, my friend and I are definately going again tomorrow.  I must head off to bed.  I just wanted to chime in but I must head to bed now, its 3am.

Hello guys...just got back to the show....BEST G N' R show in L.A. since the Forum in 1991!!! The band has gelled. They are now a tight unit.

Highlights:

1. The WHOLE show of course
2. Frank's drumset catching on fire (I thought they were going to end the show)
3. Topless women GALORE!!! ? :o ;D
4. Izzy called on stage but nowhere to be found (Axl: "Welcome to my world")
5. 5 Chinese Democracy tracks

I will also attend tomorrow's show. Since its the last of 3 shows in L.A. AND the last show of the tour, I'm hoping they throw in "Prostitute" and "T.W.A.T".

Thanks for a great show!

 :peace:

he flipped of Baz and thats when he tapped the security on the shoulder and told him to kick him out and while he was saying that he just kept on flipping of Baz from what i saw and when the main security guards went to go get him Baz said "That fat piece of shit right that with the metallica shirt" something like that.

For Franks kit there was a small fire on the bottom of his drum set right after the sparks came down from november rain.

Wow I had so much fun at this show! ?That was such a great setlist. ?I was hoping they'd play Rocket Queen and they did, I was so happy. ?Plus it was cool to hear DOTF, Out to Get Me, and Used To Love Her, plus the Izzy bonus! ? I was pretty close too, only like a few rows back in the pit. ?I really feel like we got a cool and special show cuz of how the songs were ordered. ?I really like the new songs and the new band is great. ?Tommy was really cool and all the guitarists can shred. There is now no doubt in my mind that GNR are still amazing. ?Oh yea the hot chicks flashing was great too (during Rocket Queen, and during Sabestion Bach's opening set) ? Yea and Axl started yelling at a security guard I guess during Paradice City. ? I Gotta get some sleep now.

I ran into Garry tonight and he told me that GNR played way beter the 19th than the 17th. I think the 20th can only be better. So much better than Inland Invasion. GNR was great. The crowd was really loud, awesome, into it. Baz kicked ass too. Such a good one.

And the suicide girls dancing to Prince!

WOW

It's only 6:30 in the morning and I can barely see from waking up. But drums catching fire somehow made my eyes open wide. LOL Funny stuff.

After the drum caught on fire, Axl joked that they should go "spinal tap" and light the drummer on fire. ?

Anyone find it amusing that Axl kicked someone out as he was being interupted while saying "Good Fuckin Night" at the end of PC. ?Axl said he kicked his security guy out as well.

So, did anyone hear what Axl said when the band came out for a final bow?? ?Like I stated in a prior post, it sounded something like "you never know tomorrow". ?

Can't believe someone pissed on the guy's sister's leg.   Fucking disgusting.   Wasn't there someone here that posted that he does that stuff in the pit?   Might have been a forum member that did it!

Sorry about the off-topic. I'm hoping that everything goes incredible at Gibson Amphitheatre's last night and, if it's not asking too much, surprises keep coming.

Amazing show.  TOTALLY surpassed my expectations and was much better than Inland Invasion.  I got to hear four songs that weren't played at Inland (Down on the Farm(!) Used to Love Her, Chinese Democracy and Think About You which is one of my favorite songs) and plus Izzy was there as well.  It was funny that Axl kicked out some guy at the end of Paradise City.  It was also pretty funny when he said "Oh, let's bring out a friend, Izzy Stradlin" and then he said "oh, he's not here right now?  he might be back later, but we're not sure?  welcome to my world motherfuckers"

Title: Re: December 19th Gibson Amphitheatre (Updates, Discussion etc...)

Last night was another Amazing show!!  GNR is on FIRE right now, they totally kicked ass!  Axl was more talkative last night as well, which is always cool.  Izzy jammed with them again on Used to Love her, Patience, Nightrain, Think about You and Paradise City.

Izzy was awesome and it was really great to see him again! He played the intro to Patience by himself preceded by a little solo.  He also did the Think About You short solo!! and then the 2nd part with Fortus. that was awesome!!  Izzy was having a blast, running around, jamming with the guys and enjoying playing again which made me happy.
When he first called out Izzy, apparently he disappeared and then he joked, "Now you motherf'ers see what I go through".  Later on he joked that Izzy took Axl's car for a spin and they had to use a GPS to find him and fly him in from Baja.  He was pretty funny.  He also called him out and said its "Tyrannical Rose calling Izzy, Tyranosaurus Rose."

The sound was once again excellent. I found myself hearing things I was never able to hear clearly before at any other GNR show I've seen. For example the keyboards in Chinese Democracy, some of Bumblefoot's parts, congas, keyboards in many other spots and many of Pittman's sound effects.

The songs were similar to the last show except they added Rocket Queen which was a pretty great performance, and Down on the Farm which they had down perfectly.  Love the english accent on this one, and the ending was complete with sheep bleating! :)
The show last night was about 2:35 long!!  Last night Bumblefoot also got a solo which included Don't Cry.  He was prodding the crowd to sing along which we did.

Axl threw picks into the crowd near the end and was shaking a bunch of people's hands.  He came over to sing to this kid who was up front a few times too.
Tommy was really into the show as well. He was singing along to songs and sitting up front, singing to people.

The new songs got a pretty good response all things considered. Unlike what I expected, there weren't that many people sitting for the new songs but during the solos they did.  Great crowd reaction and attendance, especially for a week night show!

Axl had to kick someone out for fighting at the very end of Paradise City but he said the show was great and they had a great time anyway.  Apparently Security was "asleep at the wheel"!  He also had some problems with his earpiece but they were fixed pretty quickly too.
One other kind of funny thing happened - the drum set caught on fire from the pyro and it also partly fell over.  After November rain the sparks lit several things on fire, and later Axl said  "Maybe tomorrow night we'll blow up the drummer like Spinal Tap!"

Another strange and unexpected thing that happened was Bubbles came out during My Michelle and he tried to play some guitar which was hilarious. I don't think Axl knew about that one.

All in all, a most excellent show and there was nothing I would really change. Tonight is going to be Epic, I can't wait!!  During this run of shows, GNR is playing and sounding the best I've ever heard of all the shows i've seen!!

Thanks man. You know it is something when you still get really excited to hear the songs you've seen many times before when they are just playing so good and having so much fun up there!

by the way, I spent most of the beginning of the show looking for the Buddha Master!
i guess you must have left hard rock kind of early ?  Dude, you gotta come tonight , it is going to be so great!!!

p.s. Garry are you the one who started the chant for Perfect Crime? whoever did that is awesome.. Axl just kind of laughed!  :D

ahhhhh It was so incredible makes me wish I could go again tonight!  They played almost 3 hours 11:40 to 2:20am and the place looked full to the very end.

The new songs received a good response overall. I saw a lot of folks rocking out to Better and CD, and Madagascar sounded great.  IRS was ok.

Axl really ripped it on Rocket Queen and DOTF!  I was really happy I could hear him crystal clear from where I was at.

He introduced Used to Love Her by saying him and Izzy were living in a shithole and they just couldnt stand the pussy hair metal song being played on the radio, and UTLH was born as a result  :hihi:

At one point it seem like some of pyros landed on the drums because Axl was joking about going spinal tap and setting the drummer on fire. And when they played a little bit of smoke on the water, Axl sang SMOOOOKE ON THE DRUMMER! really cracked me up

I could see Izzy having a great time with all the guys.  At one point he and Fortus went up the front of the stage, smiled at each other and then rocked out!  And then he shared the mike with Tommy for some background vocals.

November Rain was a personal highlight for me, Axl sang with emotion and I was really caught up in it.

damn, I want to go again tonight!

you should go again tonight man, just do it! it will be worth it :)

i forgot about Smoke on the Drummer! hahahah, that was so funny!  Izzy and some of the others started playing Smoke on the Water and Axl sang that. nice one!

p.s. someone said they thought Ron wasn't in a good mood sunday, well i disagree and last night he was having a blast and running around a lot, even during don't cry!

p.p.s. Bach was hilarious... i bet his neck hurts from headbanging. i dont like all of his songs but his set was pretty entertaining to say the least! :D

Alright just catching up on the impressions. Again, nicely done Chief. And hey, I was at Hard Rock until 8 (sitting near the GNR section with my mom and co worker).

This show was so fucking awesome I cant stop replaying it in my head. It was one of the most memorable Rock shows of my entire life. So many fucking moments, it was just unbearably great. My mom got the entire experience of a badass (in the absolute best sense) motherfucking Rock show.

Alright so let just say some things (and I apologize if this was already said). Anyone know the lowdown with the dude getting kicked out by Baz? I heard he was flipping him off and shit. And also at the end when Axl was yelling to the dude to back the fuck up.

So where was I. Did we talk about that Trailer Park Boys dude named Bubbles? Hahahahahahaha. Seriously...that was as awesome as it was crazy. This down syndrome dude, being allowed to stay on stage, and later given a guitar!!! He looked like he was about to smash it at the end!!! Fucking wow. Axl and Baz were laughing their fucking asses off. Axl was all dancing near him and they were both saying shit like "who the fuck is this?!"

Godmnit I am sure everything else has been said. Chief is always good with this shit. My mom had the time of her life. She started crying during Thal's Don't Cry solo. And again during November rain. We had a moment that we have never had. We had our arms around each other, and I remembered a poster here, saying I should give her a kiss, and I did. And the poster was right. It was a bigger bonding experience then anything in the 32 years I have known my mom.

Man...again I keep replaying the show in my head. It was special beyond words.

On sudnay, right up front, we couldn't hear axl's vocals that good but last night, they fixed the sound and I could hear everything perfectly and wow was axl on fire. He didn't miss a note. All the shit that has already been said was hillarious(fire drums, izzy left, bubbles, etc) but damn, this is the best show I have seen out of the three times I have seen them. I just can't wait to see what tonight brings.

Here's MY review:

I gotta say something first though.  the 19th blew away the 17th.  They just keep getting better and better.

My buddy Boris and I went to get a bite to eat at the Hard Rock at around 4-ish.  We were hoping to meet a few board members, but we were there early so we didn't expect to see anyone.  So we just wandered around, got some coffee and at about 6:00, we went in line.

The line wasn't very big, so we were very thankful.  We met some hardcore fans, including our very own BumbleFinck.  We was wearing Axl's "Mean Machine" jersey.  Very cool.  GN'R fans are the coolest ever, we're so easy to get along with and we have good times.

Finally the stupid security people open the gates and we rush in!  It was like the Kentucky Derby, we were all running like madmen!  The asshole security guys kept telling us, "Don't Run!"  but we didn't listen to those incompetent fuckers.  (more on that later)

Finally we get in line, and they keep saying, "NO CAMERAS!"  Hahaha, everyone snuck theirs in.  I told my friend to use the classic Phone-Wallet-Camera sandwich.  It works everytime!  So we got our wristbands and made a mad dash to the front.  I was hugging rail!  I was with BumbleFinck and two guys from England and Australia.

Suicide Girls-  I still don't really care for them, but I have to give them credit for trying.  There was a hilarious moment when some guy yelled at the gothic girl, "I didn't order any cheese with that ass!"

Helmet- Again, I don't want to put anyone down, but every song sounded the same.  Same distorted crap over and over again.  Plus, the singer is really lame.  It's the second time he made "gay" jokes.  He's probably not gay, so why does he belittle himself like that?  He needs to find a sense of humor, and maybe a guitar teacher.

Sebastian Bach!  This man is the fucking fountain of youth!  He gets so into performing.  One thing though, he spits so much during the performance!  I'm glad he didn't do that on my side.  :hihi:

My highlight was Baz recognizing me!

Baz:  Hey, you in the hat!  Weren't you here on Sunday?
Garry: YEAH!
Baz: Right on brother!  (handshake)

;D That Baz, he's like a giant hair metal teddy bear!

His new songs are really good, I think I'll get the album.  The guitarists are really good, and into the show.  The bass player is one cool mofo.  He helped out Helmet when their bass player was busted in Canada for smoking weed.

The Boob Show:  This girl behind me threw her bra right at Baz.  It hit him and he had a surprised look on his face before he finally realized what had happened.  He probably thought it was another "bad" fan, because he kicked out a guy in a Metallica shirt earlier.  He stopped a song just to do that.  He made us all say Bye-bye!  :hihi:
Sebastian said, "I don't care about the bra, show us what's under!  So the girl gets on someone's shoulder and takes off her top!  Sebastian says, "Holy shit, those are the nicest tits I've ever seen!"  At the end of the show, that girl and her friend take off their tops and crowdsurf to the front where Baz takes them on stage and continues to oggle (ogle?) them some more.  Then he proceeds to take them backstage.  :o ;)

During the wait for Guns (WHICH WAS NOT LONG!) we were all thinking about what surprises lay in store for us.  And then......the lights go down!

Robin leads us in with his teaser, and then Axl comes in and they kick into full drive!  Blistering performance, and the whole crowd is singing along.  Little would I know that everyone would sing EVERY WORD to EVERY SONG the whole night!

It's So Easy rolled around, and that's when I shook AXL ROSE's hand!  OH MY GOD!  :o 8) :smoking:  :D

After Mr. Brownstone, Beta took the stage in her tie-dye shirt.  Axl probably forgot an important technical what-cha-ma-call-it.  I yelled BETA! like a lunatic.  I yelled, "Thanks for taking care of our man all these years!"

We literally felt the heat during Live And Let Die.  Axl really has everything down to a T.

Better was amazing.  I was amazed at how many people knew the song.  Axl really appreciated that, he had a huge smile on his face.  Bumblefoot completely kick ass on the solo's.  He makes the song even better than the demo.

I noticed a pick next to Robin's CryBaby Pedal during Better....I helped myself to it.  ;D  Kick ass souvenir!  I just reached over and grabbed it.

Robin's solo is really nice.  At first, Dizzy and Frank join him, so it's a real nice addition.  Then Robin goes off into a world of his own.  And leads into Sweet Child....he's such a character, he kept smiling at me because I was wearing the same hat (not the bowler, the fedora from Europe).  Plus, I lead the lighter brigade AGAIN at this show.  I know the band appreciated everyone showing their love with cell phones and lighters.

Tommy was in such a silly mood.  He made funny faces throughout the show and came up to me and started singing along to the songs.  But in a drunken sort of way...more on that later... ;D

After YCBM...I had another highlight.  After a few months of begging, Ron played Eruption especially for me!  I'm so touched that he remembered, he is such an awesome dude.  He did this tihng right in the middle of Eruption where he quickly went into SCOM and went right back to Eruption.  Then he lead us into a sing-along of Don't Cry.

During Rocket Queen, Axl accidently threw his mic stand at Robin.  He didn't really look back, but he was scared!  but Robin played it off, he's so cool.  Axl wanted to make sure he was OK, and Robin was all smiles.

Dizzy played Angie for us, and they did the Blues.  Fortus sat down on the bench with Dizzy towards the outro, that was very cool.  Dizzy recognized me too!  I waved back at him when he smiled at me.  But then.......at the end of The Blues...Tommy went right up to him and kissed him!  :o  We were like OMG...right out of the blue.

IRS was met with a good reception.  Did I mention that we stopped the show several times with our GUNS N' ROSES chant?  It was magical, I don't think that has ever happened in the history of GN'R before.  The whole Amphitheatre was in unison.  We did it about 6-7 times.  Axl and the guys loved it!  ;D  I love all you New York people....but you guys can't hold a candle to us.  :-*

And this is when the Perfect Crime chants began.  Axl notice, and he said he had a surprise in store for us.  Hence the now famous Izzy "cock-tease" so to say.  Launched into a crazy version of OTGM.

They brought the piano out for November Rain, and I can't believe how many girls started crying.  And that's when a part of Frank's drumset caught on fire.  So after NR, the crew was working on the drumset, replacing things and whatnot.  The band had a little jam in the meantime, and Axl made his Spinal Tap reference.

Then he said he had a surprise for us.  DOWN ON THE FARM!  The place went wild.  Needless to say, my pals and I cleared up some space behind us.  Stupid girl kept groping me and trying squeeze me out of my rail spot.  FUCKING BITCH!  Treat us men like a piece of meat.... :hihi:

That stopped the Perfect Crime chants.  And then....IZZY!  MY man!  He's such a cool guy, he saw I was trying to get his picture on my phone, and he came up close.  Awwwwww.  He was wearing his Chuck Taylors, fedora (like me!)  and a black jacket.

Michelle with Baz is always a highlight.  Axl told us a story about the making of Used To Love Her.  He said, being metal tough guys back in the day, we're just a bunch of pussies now.

Izzy played a little bit of The Rolling Stones' "Paint It Black" before going into Patience.  Izzy was mixed really well at this show compared to the 17th.  The tears were flowing again during Patience.

Nightrain is always good with Dizzy.  ENCORE!

They always open the encore with CD, and CD kicks so much ass.  They had the place jumping.  Then they took things down a knotch for Madagascar.  Both songs were greeted with approval from the audience.

Paradise City is always fantastic.  They brought Izzy back out again.  We were borderling moshing during the solo, but we kept it civil.  Tommy was playing on his back throughout this song.  A la Slash at Ritz in '88.  Tommy is a crazy mofo!

People kept crowdsurfing into the area between the rail and the stage.  Axl got so pissed off, it ruined his Goodnight to the crowd.  He kicked someone out, and security too.  Here's my gripe with security.  They care about cameras and people's tickets, but they can't even provide a safe environment for fans and artists?  Stupid fat-fuck rent-a-cops!  (except for the skinny Brazilian guy I became friends with)

Tommy was having too much fun with the confetti....the band took their bows and left.  AMAZING SHOW!

Oh shit almost forgot. Before the Suicide Girls came on, I saw (for you Howard Stern fans), that fucker Melrose Larry Green. I yelled out "Bababooey" and he got so fucking excited. He ran over to us, and was crazy happy to be recognized. My mom thought he was somebody really important. We shot the shit for awhile. lol.

Title: Smoke on the Drummer
(part one of several posts...it was a long, amazing night)

We'll start at the end, after Axl had finished with us. ?Half deaf, the concert still ringing in our ears, after solid stellar performances by Sebastian Bach and Guns N Roses, we were turned out into the dark and cold only to find that there were no taxis waiting. ?We called our taxi company, they came and picked up the wrong person and promptly left. ?Another taxi showed up. ?The driver said, "No go Hollywood, go garage." ?At 3:00 in the fucking morning, even broken English sounds like a foreign language. ?What was he even doing there? ?His cab was surrounded by about 20 people, all apparently wanting to go to Hollywood. ?"No go Hollywood," he said. ?"Well then get the fuck out of here!" we thought. ?He was teasing us with a warm taxi and we were about ready to overrun his ass. ?We were starving, cold, strung out like a wet washcloth, and we were on Axl's time. ?Stuck outside of an abandoned Universal Studios, with the taxis arriving at a slow trickle. ?We conivinced the "no go Hollywood" taxi driver to take the freezing birthday "no help from the Hilton" couple down the hill to the Hilton Hotel. ?Three phone calls to later, two taxis showed up. ?One of them was the "no go Hollywood" guy, who had apparently changed his mind and decided to "go Hollywood." ?We got into the other cab with two gorgeous Norweigan blondes. ?And our driver hauled ass to Hollywood. ?As he dropped us off, we insisted that the driver clear his meter so that the two guests to our country would not be taken advantage of. ?He agreed.

Now, to the concert, part one of several posts. ?We knew it was rock and roll when a drum caught fire and rolled onto the stage. ?Axl laughed and said, "That's a fucking first!" ?The show went on, did not skip a beat. ?We knew it wasn't supposed to be part of the show, but now it forever is. ?Just one more awesome event in an awesome evening. ?Thanks Axl! ?More to come...

I gotta say i love the fact that there was fire on the stage!!
one other thing i remember is that there was confetti all over and Axl started kicking it around.

Tommy kissing Dizzy was so hilarious i cant believe i forgot about that. i must still be dazed!

I'd love to see Bach come out to sing the choruses of You're Crazy, that would rule!

Buddha Master - looks like we'll have to have a get together some other time.  if i didn't have to work i would have come way early. damn it, i wanted to meet you man. glad you had a blast, that show was one for the record books and i am very happy that your mom had a great time.  I must have got to the hard rock as you were leaving.

Yea the fire was really cool.? It always made me jump each time it shot off and you could feel the heat up in the front.? I remember seeing Tommy try to kiss Izzy too but he was like...no and turned away. lol

Oh and about Helmet.? I didn't see them this time but have seen them before and I think they rock.? I don't get why some ppl don't really like them.? They are pretty much founders of nu metal and they have a really raw and heavy sound.? When I saw them at Warped Tour there were these two wasted girls making out and doing stuff right on the floor!? The only reason I didn't see them last night was cuz I didn't want to wait around for too long so I was drinking somewhere then I went and smoked sum at about 10:40 and caught the end of Bachs set.

I will be much looking forward to the CD listening party. That can be a very unbearably awesome time if planned right.

The show last night the more I think about it...was almost like a rock n' roll cookbook. It had all these fucking crazy ingredients. I mean shit like last night will be very difficult to top.

Dude gets fucking booted out. Chicks showing skin proper like. Fucking fire! Down syndrome dude Bubbles. Izzy. GNR in immaculate/tip top form. Axl yelling at some fools. Suicide Girls. Fucking awesome crowd with an amazing energy. Melrose. Lol shit....and some real personal moments. What a fucking beast of a night.

not sure about that but i don't think its that easy to get cameras in.  they had a metal detector set up and searches before you got inside....

Wellllllll......Last night was my first GNR show since 1992 with Metallica.  I like many others, was hoping that this show would go off without a hitch.  It was a very surreal experience going to this venue, walking around during Helmet, seeing all these beautiful women, seeing a very diverse male audience(all ages, races, and probably orientation).  The surreal part was that I had seen this band in its "prime" back in 89, 91 & 92.  When a lot of these people were preteens or single digit in age.  Now with Axl and a very unknown cast to me, it was time to see if it was worth the wait.  We left Riverside at 8:15, knowing that the Suicide Girls and Helmet were not what I needed to get my blood pumping. An hour and 15 minutes later, we were there. We sat down right as Baz began.  I have seen Skid Row twice, and both times, they were better than the headliner.  BonJovi and Guns N' Roses(I call em' like I see em').  Sebastian is an amazing performer.  I love how old school he is with the wired mic.  I love the fact that he brings hot half naked chicks on stage.  Sebastian was simply great.  I was geared for a Skid Row/Sebastian upstaging of the headliner once again.  When guns hit the stage, I was 21 again.  Axl goes out of his way to  make it worthwhile to the people at his shows.  You get what you put into a rock show.  You don't put out, you get the same in return.  His voice is the BEST ever for hard rock.  I was so pumped to see this legend from 20 feet away.  I know, once the CD is released, this will be an extremely hard ticket to get.  Highlites...WTTJ, How the Fuck did he get to the front of the stage without me seeing him?!?!?  Rocket Queen(one of the top 3-4 songs by GNR).  November Rain fire.  It seemed to me like Frank kicked or pushed the stand that the fire was on to get it away from him.  There were a couple of other small fires on the stage at the time.  I was looking for the exit, but the stage hands did the job they were paid to do and we rocked on.  The three guitarists were phenomenal.  Each bringing something very different to the gig.  It was a thrill seeing Izzy.  He is my personal favorite from the original lineup.  Dude is tall, very lanky.  I might have pissed on somebody's sister's leg had he broken into 14 Years, alas, I did not.  People are very quick to slam Axl and he deserves a lot of the negative press from the past.  He is the best performer I have seen front a hard rock band live.  I have seen VanHalen at the very last gig with Dave in LosAngeles in 1984.  For 22 years, this is what I compared frontmen with.  Axl has overtaken Dave in my opinion.  He was unable to do it with Slash & Co.  But he did do it with Robin, Ron, Richard, Tommy, Chris, Dizzy & Frank.  He has matured and hopefully recognized that he is not alone in his journey, he has all of us to back him as well.  Long live Guns and Fucking Roses!!!!

Axl threw picks into the crowd near the end and was shaking a bunch of people's hands.?

So glad I spent the money on Pit tix (although many people in the pit snuck down).? I lucked out and got to shake his hand during Paradise City.? I have it all on video, I will post it as soon as I get home and can get it off my camera phone.? I, along with most others who went last night, am struggling at work today, but so worth it!? AMAZING SHOW!!!? :peace:

I tried using Youtube but the sound wasn't working.  I'll try again later.  Here's the last few minutes of last night from the pit, including me shaking Axl's hand:

Chapter 2
Too Much Security

The security people were overwhelmingly annoying at this concert.  If there's one thing that I hate, it's being treated like I MIGHT do something wrong.  One of these security people stood in front of the walkway just to the left of our seats, legs spread apart in a military stance, her back to the stage.  She had this little pencil flashlight that she shone at everyone who walked by.  It must be a terrible job, to be at a concert that just calls on you to face the stage and rock out, and you have to stand there shining your flashlight at people just in case someone does something wrong.

During Sebastian Bach's set, I noticed that there was a man in front of me, who was obviously quite drunk, however, he was only dancing.  Not causing any problems or trouble, mostly staying in front of his seat, but occasionally dancing in the aisle.  No big deal.  But then all of a sudden, about three songs into GNR's set, a bunch of security people surrounded him and asked to see his ticket.  He pulled slightly back, not resisting, not fighting, just realizing that they were going to hassle him and leaning away from them.  Then he reached into his pocket and got out his ticket and handed it to them.  They shone their stupid little flashlights on the ticket, and then they grabbed him by the arms and took him away.  He didn't fight them, he just went along with them.  I was so pissed off by that.  There was no reason for them to take him away.  He wasn't doing anything wrong, and that was really his seat.  That totally put a damper on the whole experience for me.  I was enjoying myself, dancing, but then I began to think that I'd better not dance too much lest they take me away too.  Later, near the end of GNR's set, the man came back.  He returned to stand in front of his seat, but he wasn't dancing anymore.

It was so surreal.  Not something I wanted to see.  Just too much security, too much fear.  It sucks to live in an environment ruled by fear.

security kinda bugged me too.  I was trying to get to the pit after Paradise City (during the bow)in the off-chance I could show Axl my tat. But he was still guarding it.  The show was over, he could have let me in, but oh well.

First of all thanks to everyone for the updates and the reviews. Kinda felt like I was there. That's how good these reviews were.

wowww Izzy? doenst look like him... he?s thal in this pic

haha... that confused me. yeah, he's TALL in that pic.

I was lucky enough to meet Izzy at some point in my life, and all I can say is that he's way taller than I expected him to be...

So, yeah, the guy isn't what you'd call a shorty...

This show was sooooo much better than either of the GNR shows I had seen before.  Some of it has to do with my level of sobriety(totally sober now), some of it has to do with the music never being heard(pre illusions release shows), I might have taken for granted the fact that I was seeing GNR back then, something that I was thinking was going to happen every few years.  Fourteen years after the Coliseum show makes me appreciate this band quite a bit more.  Could they have been a bit more full of themselves back then???  They were HUGE at the time.  Imagine this tour with one ounce of promotion.
