I had a draft a couple weeks back.  I was able to get Utley at #12 and Cabrera in the second round (# 17).  One guy was autodrafting his team and took Richie Sexson with the 3rd pick.  My infield is solid and I think my starting pitching should be pretty good.  I held off on closers and OF'ers for awhile though and in a 14 team league by the time I got around to it the pickins were slim.  Closer are Lidge, Benitez, and Dempster.  OF'ers are C. Patterson, Crisp, C. Duncan, C. Blake, Quentin, Ethier, E. Brown (need to use 2 Util too).

I'm well aware of that.? Thanks for the assurance.? Last year I had really good closers (Ryan, Papelbon) and that didn't work out too well.? My starters were lacking.? So I focussed on starting pitching this year.? We'll see how it works out.? I'm more worried about my OF'ers personally.? Saves is only one category.? Closers don't get many wins and mine will certainly get a good a fair amount of K's.? WHIP and ERA may take a hit from time to time, but my lackluster OF covers all the offensive categories.? Patterson burned me a few years back, I'm not crazy about him.? Crisp was hurt last year, may still be.? Duncan, Quentin, Ethier are all young and unproven.? Brown and Blake are average at best.

What do you think about Duncan? I grabbed him in the last round, and I'm actually seeing this guy as having a huge year.

I don't know about a huge year, but I'm expecting good things.  I picked him up last year when he was on a tear, he tailed off towards the end and the Cardinals kind of platooned him.  He had a pretty solid post-season though from what I remember and 20+ homers in a less than a full year.  He's batting 2nd I believe in a pretty good lineup.  I'm banking on him being my top OF'er.  Definitely a solid pick for your LAST round.

Upon further review Duncan had a less than stellar 3 for 22 post-season.  He is hitting the ball well this spring so far, .294, 5 homers.  Although spring #'s mostly mean absolutely nothing.  Hitting in front of Pujols though he should score plenty of runs and see some good pitches to hit.

Of course its free.

I only have 3 people including myself so far, so if we get just a 4 team league, talk about fun, everyone will have loaded rosters.

Not bad.  I'd think about starting Delmon Young over Mora.  More upside for Young.

Furcal's out at least a couple weeks too to start the season.  You'll have to live with Rich Aurilia there until he gets back, unless there are better options on the FA list for you.

I take it you're a Yankee fan with 4 Yanks on your team and 3 ex-Yanks.  Juan Rivera is coming off surgery and I think he's gonna be on the shelf to start the year.  I think.  You may wanna check that out.

I waited till very very late to grab a catcher and posada was the last available.

Damon and Matsui were both the best OF available at the time

I am a Yankee fan but I honestly didnt do that on purpose, just kind of how the luck of the draw went.

Thanks for the heads up on Rivera.

I know Nick Johnson is also on The DL

Ill probably drop Villarreal and pick up another bat to play till they get back.

Hey D, I may not be able to make the draft in an hour. We've got bad weather moving through Dallas so i'm about to shut down the computer to be safe until it passes. It will auto draft from my player rankings if i can't make it right?

someone joined last minute and on  yahoo head to head leagues, if u have an uneven amount of people, it cancels your draft and reschedules it.

We will absolutely have it Sunday night though

Can u make it at 8pm Eastern or 11pm Eastern?

Which would be best for u?

If i have to Ill limit the amount of players till 6 that way we won't have that problem again.

I put the limit at 8.

If nobody joins by Sunday say at 1 oclock, Ill just close registration and we will roll with 6 that way a 7th person doesnt join and mess up our start time again.

Hopefully two more will join though.

Advice for everyone: if no one has done it in your league, pick up B.J. Upton.  In Yahoo leagues, he's eligible at 3B and now 2B, could pick up SS before the end of the season.
