I hope this movie brings attention to the heroic struggle of the Koumintang . It looks like it was being referenced to in the clip , though with out naming them . They have struggled far to long after having promises broken by the Allied Powers after WWll .

Im starting to see a pattern with stallones movies here. You got Rocky I & II which were awsome and then you got the sequals which sucked big time. Then you got first blood which was awsome and the sequals which also sucked big time. Then you got these comback films (Rocky Balboa & John Rambo) which are awsome films. Now if stallone would have done this every time his career would be alot better IMO.

Rambo 2 was good. Rambo 3 not so much.  Rocky 3 and 4 were good as well.

This looks fucking great! What gives me the most hope, being an avid fan of he first 2 Rambo movies, is that it seems to have a good plot to justify the gratituous violence. The style does seem to very much like Rocky Balboa (a film I was totally against but ended up being a huge fan of) so this could seriously be a big hit.

That pretty much rounds out the top 8 movies of 2007, with only 300 and, debateabley, Pirates of the Caribbean being REMOTELY realistic (and even then, they're pretty fantastical takes on realistic things).

It's a movie.  If you can buy Bruce Willis as John McClane driving a motorcycle off a ramp, and into a helicopter...I think you can buy Stallone as a 50/60 year old badass vet kicking ass.

It's escapism.  Not Oscar aimed period pieces.

when i saw the trailer and figured it was worth a shot, i was let down at the end when he did'nt win, but over all it was a good Rocky movie.
and this one looks like an awesome rambo movie, i like how violent it looks,  i just hope that thats those aren't the best parts of the movie.

I don't think I've ever heard a director so completely understand the purpose of an action movie. A great action movie is supposed to make you shit your pants. (only, without the shit) You're supposed to grip the armrest and/or date. You're supposed to squirm in your seat and say things like "Holy Shit" or my favorite - the "oh fuck oh fuck oh fuck" chant. You know what your reaction is to a great action sequence. Some play it cool - just smiling or clenching their teeth. Others spill their drinks. Whatever your reaction to great action on screen... you'll have that reaction, then some with RAMBO.

Just saw this movie and it's great. Sly seems to make better movies the older he gets. If you've seen the trailers that are quite violent, the movie is 10 times that. I definately recommend it.

the movie lasts about 90 minutes, I felt like I was in the theater for 20 minutes.
It flies by its so action packed and amazing.

in making a rambo movie. When the action you get is only in the last half n hour, and that action is tame compared to the previous movies.

That movie did not excite me very much at all.

rambo movies always balanced good story with alot of great over the top action.

This one is just a load of story, and moaning. and then a little bit of action at the end which was good but nothing on the old rambos.

Look at the movies right, look at the level of action you get in other rambo movies, stunts, big scenes. And then look what they palm you off with in rambo 4. The end half an hour is the only real action you get and its not even that great, rambo on a gun turrent spraying some men down, i wouldnt call that amazing to watch.

Id much watch something like in rambo 2 where he jumps off that cliff edge with a napalm going off behind him. Or rambo 3 when hes fucking that base up setting all charges off.

D, great post!!  I disagree on a couple items.  Arnold could hold his own on action flicks.  Also, I LOVE the bourne identity movies.  They are well thoughtout and Jason Bourne is a bad ass motherfucker.  I also liked shooter. But Rambo is different. Its old school action. And I love it.  This is my favorite rambo ever.  The effects were just amazing no cheese or fakeness to it at all.  Plus great lines by stallone.

i just saw this and it was fucking awesome. just a balls to the wall gritty entertaining action flick. the last 20 minutes were INTENSE. this movie was so much fun.

what i also liked was that stallone dropped alot of the cheesy elements from the other two sequels. oh and the ending action sequence was probably the best i've seen in a long, long time.

one of my favorite parts was towards the end when they were about to execute everybody, and they show the soldier dude behind the mounted gun. and then u see rambo come up behind him slowly with that pissed off badass look on his face. i just burst out laughing at the pure awesomeness of it LOL. then he cuts his head off with his machete. my god.

also i love how when they go in the base to rescue the group, all the mercenaries have assault rifles or some kind of gun, and rambo is simply rockin' his machete.
