here's a very rough translation from what i read on swedish aftonbladet.se:

Her body has now taken severe damage because the diet and weight, her bone structure can't hold the girl and she's moving arounf by crawling.
furthermore the doctors are saying that the girl might not even reach the age of 8 if nothing changes in her weight. but the parents chose to ignore the advices from the doctors, even though the mother has tried to do what the docotrs say for a short period of time. "the first 7 weeks she cried a lot, the doctors said that she had an ache in her stomach but she was hungry so i gave her a bottle and she only wanted to have more and more, she was constantly hungry says Carolyn Guide according to ekstrabladet.dk."

I don't know the whole story, I'm sure part of this is medical, but still - her parents should be charged with abuse. And the media should be ashamed of themselves for turning a sick child into a freakshow.

I was going to make a smartass remark about another thread , but I won't .
It is child endangerment ; the child should taken and put in a safer environmrnt .

I agree...the poor child :(...her parents should be held accountable.....ignorance or not on the mother's behalf, there are better ways to 'feed' the child that is ALWAYS hungry...usually it is because of bordom and very little to stimulate the child....I have teenage boys and they eat me out of house and home but they do not get chips, soda, cookies,sweets or fast food...within reason junk food can be a treat, like when they go to a movie with friends or out for dinner with myself or their father but definately no a staple by any means. We have 3 main snacks in this household, low fat yogurt, fruit or veggies with a lowfat dip :yes:

That is dead set disturbing. Those parents should be prosecuted for child abuse. I mean c'mon ... the kid is going to have a seriously reduced life expectancy and quality of life as a direct resut of the actions of the parents.

An example needs to be made of these parents.

well.. anyway I slice it it would've been helpfull if she just wouldn't been given that much food, I mean we ain't talking about a slight overweight.

Atleast I would get a thought that maybe I'm giving my child a bit too much to eat if she's so fat she can't even walk.

theres loads of obese people in england, we've had our fair share of programs on fat people, so this doesnt surprise me.

Seriously, read the article I posted.  It's an old story.  The kid has lost about 300 pounds.

I read that the first time you posted it.. but that it can happen si why we still discuss it.. posting that link to the news over and over is like saying well the WW2 was 60 years ago so no reason to talk abouit it now and it's peace now in europe and whatever..

The parents should be sued for child neglect.
