Maybe memory issues Locker. And let's be honest. The bit rate is 223. Anything over 192 is great. This is almost CD quality. Itunes high quality is 192 +. Don't be an overally anal audiophile. These do sound great.

about all those people complaining about quality you can go & record yourself it's so easy to make a great audience or an axl's  ear monitor, you just need a small recording machine like minidisc or dat or even the shitty edirol which sucks for audience but which is so great for ear monitor.

after all the whole next tour will be taped both ear monitor (axl & others by the way) & audiences so the more sources we'll have the better

You have to understand that 'locker' is an audophile -- who loves good quality music -- and hates MP3 and stuff. That's all that he's complaining.

Thank you to the taper, and the person who paid for and liberated this bootleg !  The japanese really are excellent audience tapers !  Too bad they're more into selling than sharing...

In my opinion the band sounds great musically.  I feared the worst with Buckethead and Finck gone, with both being so amazing on the album, especially Buckethead's parts. Ron really rose to the challenge however,
and I'm pleasantly suprised and impressed. I also like his stage clothes better  ;D  Dj Ashba still needs some practice though  ;)


A poor vocal performance will sound poor on ANY recording, in-ears or audience recording.  Axl doesn't sound any better on this recording for songs like 'Catcher', 'Prostitute' or 'TWAT' than on the in-ear alternative.  However, in other songs he does sound a lot better than in '01/'02 and '06/'07.  Maybe he'll improve as the tour progresses...

Either way, can't wait to see them in Europe in 2010 ! 

oh ok & i think locker is right for that as i hate mp3 too & prefer wave for sure cause as he says we deserve hi quality. i was not judging him directly but the whole ppl in general always complaining.
but i understand that some ppl want the mp3 in a second time for their poor ipod or stuff like that, you know those things like mobile phone or poor else which arent meant for music IMO but the youngs love it so it s their right. perso i prefer great ear monitor or soundboard in a real hifi system & very loud. just a choice

i totally agree with christiangnr. at least for my ears theres a big difference between this audience recording and the ear-mix-version. this one just sounds a lot better. one just can't recognize all the side noises (i.e. axl's breathing) in an audience recording. you clearly hear those noises in the in-ear-mix...

I think the MP3s sound good, especially to listen on a MP3 player. Waves/ FLACs or better if you listen on a stereo, but it's up to everyone to download whatever they need. Let's not judge people for what they may like/ dislike.

By the way, the concert is great, and it's nice to hear Sorry live with this quality!

Axl sounds devilish in this bootleg. His voice in TWAT, Nightrain, Out Ta Get Me and IRS was just killer, best form ever. And there's a HUGE difference from this bootleg to that Monitor Mix. ALL SINGERS suck in monitor mixes, have you ever listened to an Ozzy Osbourne or Halford monitor mix? They SUCK. Its something inherent to the type of recording, not the artist.

you can have the best quality file in the world, but if you have a shit soundcard/speakers/headphones then it isn't really noticable.

i'll have mp3 on my laptop and flac to burn off onto CD for my stereo. i see no point in having a file 10times the size to run through shit speakers.

Why can't people just put up their various formats, you take what you want and shut up about it.

Agreed. The instrumental volume kinda blend with Axl's voice, and then it sounds way better than just the vocal.

something's very weird with the lack of illusion songs. with any newer line-up since 01/01/2001 Axl only does 4-5 songs from illusion albums:

live and let die (cover-song)
knockin' on heaven's door (cover-song)
you could be mine (written before "Appetite for Destruction")
november rain (written before "Appetite for Destruction")
don't cry (rarely played)

still they manage to play 31 songs within 3,5h!
the sound on here is killer, very good work!

ear monitor really DEPENDS ON THE ARTISTS. i have so many ear monitor bootlegs sounding like real soundboard only because the artist wants it that way... i mean the sound is just like he is listening to the radio
& some other artists want just some parts of the music & not the whole instruments but usually 2 or 3 plus their voice very loud & unfortunatly for us AXL is more in that second case (& good for him cause i think for rock music it is the best choice when you're on stage)... thats why his ear mix will never be that great.
have you ever noticed he only uses one ear. come on i'm sure you ever seen that,  no !!!
his other ear is like in the good old time & just earing with the real speakers that are on stage (the real time where crappy ear monitor didnt exist).
he has the precision of his voice in one ear & receives the powerful wall of sound in the other.  cause if you have not the wall of sound in your face you cant be aggressive & you start to become pop music. remember axl's voice in 2002... he was kinda pop that year... luckily he's more aggressive since 2006.

Yes, but Bumble only commented about Raul AFTER the Tokyo show. I think is pretty fair to assume Axl was talking to a roadie, sound guy or anyone from the GNR crew.

Just realized this bootleg is 29 seconds shorter than the 08.03.91 show.

At the end of the show at Inglewood 1991, Axl thanks the crowd for helping them beat their record for staying on stage "3 hours 36 minutes and 19 seconds". It's only a matter of seconds I guess. Both Ron and Axl confirmed they beat GN'R's record so I tend to believe them. ;)

Actually it doesn't really matter to me, as long as both shows are great. I saw people arguing over which one was the longest but in the end it doesn't matter I think. In my opinion they are basically as long (about 215 minutes), which is a weird coincidence, when you think that they played Tokyo 18 years after Inglewood!

I agree with you Will, but I was just listening to both bootlegs and on my players I got 217:29 for Tokyo and 217:58 for the other.

Based on the master source that was just released of 08.03.91 and the total time.

Either way, I think Tokyo was a better performance.
