Title: T-rex cover - RUMOUR
Post by: allwaystired on December 04, 2018, 12:26:05 PM
Obviously only a rumour- but quite specific.

Is this guy a reliable source?

 Mitch Lafon@mitchlafon

Unsubstantiated reports claim Guns N’ Roses have recorded a cover of T-Rex’s Children Of The Revolution for inclusion on a upcoming tribute album. Other artists on the album are said to include U2, Elton John, Foo Fighters and Joan Jett. Until released consider this to be rumor. pic.twitter.com/PRVpfMonCh

If somehow this turns out to be true, it would be a pretty solid appetizer while they're getting around to record a proper album next year.

Looking at Slash's schedule for next year, it's difficult to see how the sustained amount of time needed to record an album will be found. It's going to be a long process and require a period of relative silence to outsiders I would think. That's the case with most bands really- even more so for GNR who haven't been in a studio together now for a long time.

A one-off cover though? Yeah that might be possible.

Maybe the song was recorded during the Spaghetti sessions... and 4tus recorded his new parts during the last couple of months..
Or they recorded it before the whole not in this lifetime tour was announced. Afterall there was that whole period of silence from fall 2015 up to April 1st 2016....
Whatever...I'm feeling excited ! :peace:

That's an interesting suggestion- perhaps it is an old cover from that era. Were there ever any suggestions as to 'outakes' from TSI?

There was one Hanoi Rocks song recorded that never saw the light of day.

The real question is whether or not Slash and Duff will care if Axl brings in Paul Tobias to add his guitar parts?    :hihi:

What song was that? They were such an influence on the band in the day, would love to hear it.

The song is called "Beer and a cigarette"

It's a weird song, I really can't imagine GNR covering it.

From what I've read,Zak Starkey play's drums on the track and (just speculation) - Axl may not be done with recording with AC/DC even though the Back In Black line up (sans the Late Mal) has recorded new tracks in Vancouver.

This was posted on Zak's facebook page in Aug.  Doesn't say where they were.

Hope that and the Stooges’ “Down on the Street” turn up some day.

I think Zak Starkey is the drummer for The Who and that was taken at the festival that both bands were on the bill of last year.

I can't see why Frank wouldn't be drumming. We know Axl is loyal- and there would seem to be no reason for him not to be playing on any new recording.

That's this thread done then! Pretty clear this rumour isn't true.

Though, that record producer said “There is a rumour that Axl Rose recorded that song for a different Bolan project without Guns N’ Roses, but again, it is not ours.”

I'm going to treat that further rumour with a LOT of suspicion!
