I've gotta disagree, the lyrics to the new songs are excellent.

I have no doubt the new band will be even better.

However classic Gnr is why we are here, they are the greatest band ever - and by some distance

Live verions of new songs have been available for about 3 years.  The songs are

The Blues
Madagascar
Chinese Democracy
Silk Worms
Rhiad and The Bedouins

Try Kazaa or the HUB. :)

AHHHH!!  The Ex-Gunners section is turning into a newGNR section!

Yeah I miss the old band, but I dont have a magic wand.

However, VR just might be the closest thing to a magic wand there is.

I'm sure we all miss old GNR...
but it's fantastic that we have Velvet Revolver getting ready to rock!

Yeah, I've seen 3 out of this. Actually that's what I'm doing right now (downloading them).
I miss Guns'n'fuckin'Roses too. But let's look at this in other way: now we have two awesome bands instead of one.

Yeah, sure I miss them. I was even listening to TSI last night and they were such a great fuckin rock band.
Hell, I think they were THE best rock band to ever exist.

Axl was the greatest rock frontman ever, and long with Slash, Duff, Matt and Izzy/Gilby, such a great band.
Slash's riffs just ooze so much attitude too, it matches with Axl's voice perfectly.
The swagger and attitude even on all the covers on TSI are such a reminder on this.

Imagine they got together again and recorded an album of originals in the same style and mindset as TSI (which really isn't that different to a GN'R original studio album when you think about it, with the different styles on there) & AFD and just said "fuck all the other bullshit, let's do this again."

It saddens me when I think that they no longer exist like that anymore. Maybe it's for the better, maybe not. I guess we'll see when CD comes out.

But I am now so looking forward to Contraband, maybe even more than CD.

They were the greatest rock band ever. This was partly because of STEVEN ADLER. Who you seem to have missed out there.  ::)  ;D

It will be more correct to say " partly because of Steven Adler too"

I know I missed him, but I prefer Matts drumming to Stevens.
I'm not debating about who was the original lineup anyway, I'm just writing about the band that I think was the greatest rock band ever, and I prefer Matt over Steven.

They were Guns N' Roses. End of story.

Axl shud never have carried on the GNR name, as much as i want to here the new material its not Guns N' Roses. Imagine if the GNR name was scrapped and Axl sed ive got a new band and mentioned the lineup now you wud be blown away, the name GNR causes comparisons which will never end. Ever.

Think about it from Axl's point of view though, the band name is the thing that carries alot of weight. If he called it The Axl Rose Band or something then some people wouldnt get who he was.

Also he has paid alot of money to have the name and has worked hard to build up the band, so why shouldnt he call his band Guns N Roses?

So Axl was the only one who worked hard to build up the band, i think you're forgetting about four other musicians who also worked their butts off to make gnr into the band that it was. Its not GNR without Axl, Slash, Steven, Izzy and Duff. Simple.

And he was the only one who did his best to break up the band. So he deserves that name?!

Fuck,  I really miss  them!!
And I?m shure that Chinese Democracy(if its ever realesed)
it wont be better than any old GNR album.
Pretty shure about that!!

Dude, I never said anything like the other guys didnt work hard to build up the band. I never said that. I know very well that the other guys worked their asses off and I will always hold the original line-up over whatever Axl puts together these days. Although according to your logic, the whole UYI albums were not GNR cos Matt had taken over from Steven and they had got Dizzy on board?

I just pointed out that from Axl's point of view, the band name is the best weapon he has for selling records. Also, he bought the rights to the band name so we shouldnt he use something that he has paid money for?

Dont forget the band didnt actually break up officially, the others left the band leaving Axl on his own.

Yea I kind of miss what it used to be. But it was so long ago. That was then and this is now. And that is just how it is. So I don't miss them really. I appreciate it for how great it was, but now look foward to the future (hopefully).

Of course we miss the band. What true GnR fan wouldn't want to see the original 5 back together with a 1/2 way sane Axl atleast.

I definitely miss the old band. I think they could have went on to become the greatest band ever. I always wonder what they could acchieved if they continued on. I guess in a way it's a good thing they broke up  because I don't think they would have been as good without Izzy.
