Title: GNR and High School in 1989
Post by: jameslofton29 on April 29, 2005, 06:37:18 PM
I was a high school freshman in 1989, and for some reason, GNR and Metallica shirts were banned at the school. I had every GNR shirt at the time and wore one each day of the week. As soon as some annoying teacher spotted me and my shirt, I would have to go to the gym and put on my gym shirt. But that didn't stop me from wearing GNR the next day. This went on for months, and finally I got sent to the principal's office. When I was asked why I kept doing it, I told him that as long as girls were allowed to advertise New Kids On The Block, I was going to advertise GNR. He didn't really know what to say to that, so he just let me off with a warning. I kept wearing the shirts though. He must have been a closet GNR fan. Did anyone else go through a similar situation at their high school?

Guess I was lucky, in High School we could wear pretty much whatever T- shirt we wanted provided it wasn`t porn or profanity.

Great response!  : ok:

We could wear what we wanted to school as long as it didn't say "fuck" on it.

A friend o' mine who was a teen during that lovely era told me that everyone in school had a Guns N' Roses t-shirt, even those who were listening to New Kids on the Block.
Those were the days...

My high school had school uniform. We could wear whatever T-shirt underneath it.
Once I even found myself still in my nightshirt when changing to my gym kit.

How 'bout Ye men?
